Yeah I did, I had a sprite category with that name and a GUI button with that number and after I changed both to something else the error went away. Strange thing is both were changed to the same, different name and that didn't cause an error, weird.
Anyway thanks a lot for the help. ;D
BTW, I know this is off topic but since I'm finishing up my GUI, what's the general GUI options/buttons that are most appropriate or commonly used in such games?
Again to the mods I'm sorry this is off topic but I didn't want to pass up an opportunity to ask since I'm not sure where on the board would be appropriate to ask such a thing. I wont make a habit of it!

I can save my game alright but when I try to test it this error comes up and wont allow me to.
I don't understand what it's talking about when it says I've got more than one thing labelled as inventory.

I haven't done anything with the 4th room yet like add any hotspots.

I am all for this idea, having a blog relevant to this myself, however there are some things I would like to know.
1. Ultimately whose decision would it be to approve such a thing?
2. Would it cost a lot of money to maintain it?
3. If this is a serious possibility shouldn't you pm that person mentioned in question 1 and refer them to this topic?
4. Wouldn't a poll would be a more appropriate way of showing whether numbers are in your favour for this idea?

We from www.maniac-mansion-mania.com used "highschool" instead of "college", cause when you're in college you usually don't live at home with your parents any more.  :-\

Most of the kids in MMM do live with their parents, so it's "highschool" for MMM!

Yeah in the USA that's usually the case and they usually live dorms but over here in Australia there's a trend towards people living at home until they're 25(and I'm not talking about the ones that have moved out before and then move back in for certain reasons), I mean the ones that are happy to just mooch of their folks and not want to move out and do a bit of that grown up stuff.

The 20th time, now look, while the room may not look perfect, nor the bricks, striving for such a thing in a way that is almost obsessive is not the way to go. Relax, it doesn't look that bad at all and I think you need to chill out about it being the best and move on with the rest of the game.

Won't rescaling the entire room, bed, desk, and all, make your sprites look too big? I'm mean, you can scale sprites, but having them scaled for the duration of their stay in that room kinda sucks. Just a thought
Well possibly so I decided to go with Ultra Magnus's idea and here is my latest example. You'll notice the wardrobe is missing, that is because I am currently having a new one designed by my part time designer, to sit against the right wall. When that's done it'll be placed in the bedroom. Also I realise the windows don't match up, position wise but I'll handle that latter. Still looking for a free, legal carpet texture to use for the flooring that doesn't require a link back one a website as many do. Also that have clear instructions for how to credit it and/or them. If anyone knows where I could find such a place or flooring please let me know. Also I know the bedroom may still look to big but this is a one bedroom house and this and due to this it's supposed to be a slightly larger than most bedroom anyway.

With the type of brick style you're currently using it doesn't seem to matter as much if the angles aren't 100% in sync, they look enough. I suggest you use that same brick design for the entire room, it looks better than the other one and using two different styles in one room(from either the front or back) doesn't make sense.

I have made the bedroom look 25% smaller just by rescaling the picture image and then filling the rest in with black. I realise it may still look too big but when the player sees the other rooms and their sizes in comparison I don't think it will be obvious they are bigger. Making the room itself smaller another way would have meant removing items that I want to use in that room.
#169
The only issue I notice is that the angles on the left and right sides don't seem to line up, otherwise it looks fine.
#170
No, the sprites wont be from that angle, they're just average sprites and I realise they may look a bit weird in the game but I tested it and I don't think they look too strange, I'm not looking for the best design here, I've already got a part time designer for custom images and a coder so I'm concentrating on design aspects in other ways, for example I wanna be a web designer, so you understand the position, look of things and of course the whole storyline.

Yeah I think I'll make the room a bit smaller but it needs to be a bit bigger to fit the items in that I need, it might mean keeping the bed smaller, either way I'm gonna need to compromise somewhere, not everything is going to look wonderful so I'm just looking for the best compromise here I guess.

This looks better than the original, I'd keep the bed in that vertical position.
But, to repeat Tuomas, this room looks way too big for a bedroom.

Also, if you draw the walls skewed, that drawer in the topleft should also be skewed. The desk (which is very well done, I might add) looks alright, probably because the left side of the desk is drawn on top of the wall.

Well all the rooms need to be essentially the same size in the game(unless we're talking about scrolling ones) so I can't really make this one smaller than the others in the game. I can't think of a way to make the room smaller or look smaller.

Well moving the drawers to a different position should remove the need for it to look skewed but don't you think the bed itself looks way too big now and out of proportion with the other items in the room?

Anyway I suppose overall even if some things look a bit too big or too small, well it's my first game and I'm using premade graphics so I guess I can handle a few issues with game design without it ruining the entire game.

The way things are going I have a feeling it might be at least a year before the game is finished, if that.

It looks like the brick walls are trying to convey a slightly 3D look to the room but it sort of looks a bit unnatural, like if it were a picture for example taken on a angle the middle bit would also show that but it's straight. However as far as the objects against the brick wall, they look okay because they seem to be on the a slightly type of angle that works with the angle of the brick wall.

Otherwise the room looks very well constructed and appealing, the lights and shadowing will probably just make it look even better and I'd love to see the result once they're added.

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to ask this but I've been looking all over for textures that are appropriate for games, mainly things like tiling for kitchens and bathrooms and carpet textures. The ones I have come across are a bit too realistic for my game(as in they are basically real pictures, even though my game using hi res graphics). Also most 3D design.
So does anyone know of a source or program(besides GIMP or maybe some links to plugins or whatnot for it that could be added to the program for these textures) for this sort of thing and also I need to make sure I can understand the credit and conditions of using them, mainly on websites are a bit unclear or want links back on a website(so they're designed for websites).
#174
This is my revision but I think it looks worse.
#175
Yes the texture I used is some form of cloth but it was the closet thing I could currently find to carpet material.

I've already upsized the bed from it's original size and to do so again would make it look terribly distorted and really blocky I think.

I have a potential part time designer so perhaps if that is confirmed I can ask if they can make a better looking and more suitable bed. I decided for my first game to concentrate on the things I was good at and making graphics is not one of them.

However if I made another game I'd want all the graphics or at least half to be my own and the rest well by a fellow designer possibly but that's a long way off.
#176

Mostly I'm happy with it, however I realise the bed is in a weird position but with the free graphics I'm using it didn't include a version of it in a vertical position.

Also perhaps the carpet isn't working but otherwise I'm happy with it?

I have to say, that's the most cliched story concept of all...
Well my blog pretty much explains without giving too much away that it's not as clichéd as you may think. Of course the basic beginning concept has been used many times, I'm not claiming it isn't, it's how a storyline progresses beyond that beginning and ends up that shows whether it's just a copycat act or has original ideas.

Well before I had my sex change I was a man, just kidding!
Actually I'm 23 so too young and it was a joke anyway, I'm looking alot more locally.

Love the idea of a Doctor Who adventure game as I'm a fan of the show myself, however not so much of the movie.

I hope this is an appropriate question to ask here, what inspired the name for the game episode?

Then send some my way. ;D
