Been away from the forum for a very long time but I'm back and trying to actually finish one game!

Anyway I think my really old monitor is like only 15 inches or something and when I try to run my game that's set for 320x240 res in full screen mode bits of it are chopped off and the only way I can see the whole thing properly is to  stretch my screen smaller. I'm using 800x600 res for my desktop and can't even try to get it to 640x anything. So is this basically only a problem with my monitor or an AGS thing? Is there anything I can besides getting a new monitor(and yeah I'm hoping to get a bigger one next year!) or changing the res to be higher because my background is drawn in 320x240? ???

I know there's GIMP and the like around but what kind of programs do people actually generally use to for AGS games, I just want to get some ideas about it and how on earth I'd go about getting some decent images or whether I should just give up and enlist a designer. Any help would be much appreciated and I'm sorry if this isn't the correct forum for this.

Illegal exception
---------------------------
An exception 0xC0000005 occured in ACWIN.EXE at EIP = 0x00407775 ; program pointer is +6, ACI version 2.61.744, gtags (23,35)

This happened when I tried to run a game from just C drive(therefore all the files where just on C drive and not in a seperate folder for the game) but since I've put them all in a seperate folder it works fine. So it's no longer a problem but I thought you might want to take a look at what might have caused it anyway.

I deleted it, sorry! It was happening every time and I didn't delete or renumber the sprites as far as I can remember.

I've tried to found a way of displaying a picture file or sprite when a person looks at a inventory item but have not been able to find a way to do so. I tried using the change inv sprite option but that sprite didn't show up. Any help would be much appreciated!

I got a error when trying to view the default set of sprites. This may have been cause as I earlier imported my own sprite over the original and moved the sprite to a different folder. I have continued making the game from a old backup that still has those changes and it works fine.
Here is the erorr:
Exception 0x000000 at EIP=0x017732DO, AGSE v 2.61.490

I actually just got the conditional thing working before I read your replies but thanks anyway, I get the concept now that there needs to be conditions for both results. Also I was placing them in the wrong area and/or order but it seems to be working now I've fixed it up.
Also I will take up scripting eventually but not just yet.

Critics' Lounge / GIMP Question
Wed 25/08/2004 06:49:21
I've been using GIMP for a little while but was wondering if there was a way with it or any similar program that ever single part of one colour was wiped from a file. Like a purple background so no purple was anywhere in the pic?
Any help would be much appreciated!

I now intergrate most things I want to use for my game into the background as I can then work with the walkable areas easier but want to know if there's a way to use walkable areas and objects together? Like I want to have a chest that is solid but as an object it can't be viewed when desiging the walkable areas. Any help would be much appreciated!

I have an object(chest). I use the interaction to get the character to go over, run animation for opening, get some items and then the chest closes. There's also a add points thing there in the middle as well as a message saying what they've recieved. I then try to add a conditional so that doing the same thing a second time just uses the opening and closing animations with a message that its empty in between. I've tried using a variable change and if a item has something in their inventory but instead it just goes straight through the first step, then straight to second condition. If you try it again though the same things happens rather than just the second condition. Any help would be much appreciated!

I have read the manual for AGS and tried to look for some other things to tell me this but I'm still not quite sure.
I read it has multiplayer support but I have no idea how or whether this just relates to lan, tcp, internet connections, etc. or turn based on the same comp or both.
Any help would be much appreciated!
