I think that if we stickied every solution to common problems we'd have 1000 sticky threads. When I have a scripting problem, I either ask a friend or do a forum search for a thread in which my problem has been solved (which I believe is the common thing to do). If you give your thread a nice, clear title, anybody who searches for a solution for their problem should find it straight away.
With regards to all this talk about standing in the community and earning respect, I completely fail to see the relevance. There's a technical issue, and you've found a solution. How does your forum "status" change the reliability of your solution?
Usually I've found that on the Internet communities just as in real
life ones there's a bit of a pecking order and occasionally someone
finds it easier to people to take notice of them if they do something
that improves their pecking status. not that this thread was an
attempt at gaining any more recognition within this community!
