Just when I was about to complain that noone ever wants to write me a PM and I feel so lonely the first entry came to my inbox. How could I have doubted that this person would not send in the very first entry ;)

So, stupot+, are you in?

Still waiting for andail's entry for his fav compo ;)

Everyone else reading this. Yes you! No excuses! Sharpen your pencil and write 55 words that are connected and form a short story of glorious drama writing.

I believe the manual should still have the page on upgrading to AGS 3.2, which details the new audio system.

and/or a link to a relevant wiki page maybe.

The last edition of the 55 word story competition is over way too long,
so fear not creative writers of the few words,
Andail, the host of the other competitions
generously allowed me to host this edition, so, with even less words,
here is the Drama edition of the 55 word story competition

The rules are simple:

You have until the 8th of February to PM me your story.
Just imagine friday as the deadline for the 55 words you want to write,
if you don't make it till sunday night there will be no extension.

Every story must be exactly 55 words.
If you want a title, it must be included in the word count.

This edition of the competition is all about the drama.
people talk about their weird and interesting problems.
Someone reaches a dramatic (turning) point.
What's your 55 word drama.

I'll just copy + paste your spelling errors and
creative formatting into the voting topic,
so have it all set.

Don't post your entry into the topic,
all entries and voting and results are
anonymous from the competition side.

:) :( :) :( :) :( :) :( :) :( :) :( :) :( :) :( :) :(

After the deadline, I will publish all stories anonymously and the community will vote for the top 3 candidates.
Once we start voting, you may discuss the entries in the thread, but not reveal any identities.

For some entertaining 55 word stories, you can find the stories from the previous rounds here:

I'm not sure, I nominated the games I want to nominate. When I click on the link to the huge list in the forum header AGAIN, are all my nominations deleted, or are they still there and I can change things around? I don't want to click to find out as nominating takes some time. And because I'm not sure about that I don't want to find out if I can nominate some categories, SAVE this, and CONTINUE nominating with my other nominations saved to my account later that day or on another day.
If reentering the nominations page deletes everything entered I want to send some nitpick feedback out. If not, I might change around my nominations some more later. or not. or later. or not...

Now this looks pretty pretty.
The characters look a bit stiff though, as if they were 3dmodelled characters in a computergame (roll) :-D

Does the ZIP format allow encryption? I know most game devs wouldn't want their resource files readily readable and/or replaceable like that. It's possible to extract the resources anyway, but at least it takes some work to do it.

For an easy start AGS could change the file extension of every open file to something like .ARF (AGS Resource File, not RUFF RUFF!) and strap off the file header. Then later add the header on runtime and treat the file as the file it is. Guessing the correct file extension takes some work already (well, then, videos are bigger than pictures, which are bigger than highscoretables in plain text, but you know what I mean.)
I bet this is easier to implement than file encryption. But encrypted files with the key hard coded into the game .exe are a bit harder to crack, but since you can extract resources from the exe already, this also not unbreakable I think. But at least a lot of work and more rewarding for the person that really wants that element of the game and is too lazy to write an email to the gamedev (or hack the gamedev and demand that resource with the compromizing data gained...)

btw, what files are openely added to the gamefolder and not already stuffed into these ressource containers and the game .exe?
