Yes I'm using AGS. And this is a link to the template I'm using.

http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=20327.20

I used it once before to make a game but didn't mess with the scripting that much though. But I do know a little about scripting itself.

OK I just reverted the leg back to the way it was only higher and repositioned the arms.

I did look at the link but...

I'm sorry to bring up personal issues I dropped out of a special ed school because the pressure became too much for me. I've always wanted to make video games and if I can't do it right with AGS I feel I've failed.

I spent so much time drawing in school and art was my favorite subject. I feel like if I fail in these fields. I've failed being a human being. I know I probably sound whiny but I'm trying. I do appreciate the help and support though and I thank y'all. I won't give up till I got this right.  I promise myself this and the whole gaming world.

You guys kill me. I laughed so hard at y'alls jokes on that pic. I'll be working on it tonight I guess...

That is if I can stop laughing long enough.

O.K. I hope I got it this time but here she is.

Well I've been busy so I haven't done much but dress her and add a kick sprite.

So what do y'all think?

I guess what I kind of like the best so far is the example that Brentimous made. I guess I'll try and go with that because some more of my characters like one that I plan on calling Mistress Kitty will be a bit larger. But then again I plan on making a ballarina character so maybe I'll work something out and get back with y'all. Thanks again for all the help.

Edit: Ok I took Brentimous example tried enlarging it to a bit larger size. Now I have not trimmed the outline yet the way I did things and I Think I'll do this from now on like most of y'all have shown me. Start with stick figures use familiar shapes and start naked in black and white. and hopefully my next character will be better at first.

I may regret saying this but money is not the only problem in the world but...

I admit I believe in God but I deal with a very sinful life that I came from and yet because of the way the world is going. I'm drowning in a lot of what the media has been pushing down my throat and I don't know if this forum would be any different. But  even most forums I've openly talked about my issue say go for it. You can't change who you are inside. And stuff like that. But I'm not here to judge people over it because I'd be a hypocrite but I do want to live my life for God. Don't know much else to say but this is how I feel.

But getting back on topic yes money is a great problem and it is said {The love of money is the root of all evil} and I believe it.

Aright now what I'm dealing with for one.
Her feat are kind elevated in my picture because she is going to be in high heels as pictured above. So for what I'm going for with the feat is obvious.

But like you sythe and the others have said I guess I still have to work on her curves.

Am I right or am I wrong. Making her evenly proportioned.

Of course the end result Will be similar to any other fight game out there. I'm going to have her with a battle pose and she will have punch frames and kick frames. Which will be a bit harder unless I could figure out an easy way to make her 3d but still with the anime style look. But I've tried the 3d programs ags has plugins and modules for and they were difficult to use for me at least.

But getting back on topic I like the way you drew her but of course like I said I'm kind of going for her fighting pose or stance to begin with. Then I'm going to try to animate her. Again to all who have helped me so far thanks.

Edit: I took a closer look at yours sythe and corrected a few issues with mine around the torso area.

Thanks Ben but I only meant that I was keeping the cursiveness. As for the skirt issue I will correct that when I redo her clothes.  Oh and I slightly modified the face that you made where she is now wearing make up. Blue eyeliner and pink lipstick.

By the way anian  I went ahead and took your advice thanks for the tutorial. What I did is use shapes and put them together piece by piece. Also I used the curved line tool in ms paint.

  I did start off using a stick figures cause the fighting game template I'm using starts off as just two stick figures as characters so I'm also at odds with the size issue. Meaning that I can't make her two small or there will be issues with where the punches hit. I will update this thread also as I create more characters. Thanks for the help so far. Y'all have been very helpful.

Quote from: Ben304Other than that, there some other strange elements - chunky legs, bendy arms and a bottom that sticks out more than it probably should.

Quote from: Calin Leafshadecan bottoms ever stick out more than they should?

She's just a curvy gal.

incidentally why would this thread be unsuitable for those under the age of 13?

Well I like the face you made for her Ben.I even saved it just to use as an example on how she will look. But I have to agree with Calin whats wrong with a lady being a bit curvy I wasn't looking for that type of image but I think she looks pretty good for the most part. But maybe I should start from scratch and try to work out a few little kinks in her look but other than that I like her bottom the way it is.

And to Calin about the age issue. I thought because Lovey Dovey is wearing an open front see thru skirt with thigh high leggings and garter belt I thought it may be a little inappropriate for children under 13. Such as like example Ivy from Soul Calibur fame is why the game is rated T.

Quote from: anianWell, I even gave you a link to a tutorial, but you somehow missed the point a bit. But yeah, what InC said, practice a bit to get the hang of it. just a bare figure and poses...or maybe a something like Spiderman (cause that's basically a figure with no face but it makes it fun).
Try to fill out a piece of regualr a4 print paper with like 5 sketches of a female body in style you'd like, BUT do it by the book - draw a stick figure, draw shapes, check the relations between bodyparts and face parts etc. Just by doing that you'll see some things look better. After a few pages of doing stuff like that and you'll see much improvment.
And when you do that put them in a drawer, then, after a day or two, look at thsoe papers and you'll see much more things that were wrong. As you get better it will get harder for you to recognize what's wrong with a sketch (though, to be honest, you're kind of far away from that right now and some issuses are really obvious). I know it's hard to draw with a mouse, but you could get a picture or something in the background and use it as a template even.

Redrawing the whole sprite every time you thought you saw what's wrong will just make it a longer process and make it harder to spot when you actually got something right.

This is not meant too be harsh, just advice.  Smiley

She is an Amazon princess that just moved to a city to get some fighting action and prove to her tribe that she can be both posh and powerful at the same time.
I'm kind of slow, so I ust noticed this. Isn't that Wonder woman origin story sort of?  Grin

Sorry I didn't quit get what it was at first you were saying or showing me. I'm gonna look over her bit by bit using the guidelines you suggested and see if I get better Other than that as I said earlier the bottom is fine as is.

Oh by the way I didn't notice the similarities  but I don't recall Wonder Woman entering an all girl fighting tournament.  ;D

Well I worked my head shrinking voodoo.  ;D
And worked around the face and this is what I got.

Also she has a better more realistic skin tone I think.

QuoteBasic errors: the head is too big, the limbs too fat, the body too thin. The eyes are way too big and too far up.

I guess I can agree on everything said here. But I'm going for kind of a Japanese anime type look. But I guess I should work a lot on the arms and legs and the body. But as far as the head and eyes go if I want the anime look does it still need some improvements. By the way I'm not too much use to drawing such big sprites and or full size pics with the mouse. But thanks for the input so far.

Her name is Lovey Dovey and she is for a fighting game I'm making using the fight game template. She is an Amazon princess that just moved to a city to get some fighting action and prove to her tribe that she can be both posh and powerful at the same time.

I want to put starting inventory in a second inventory GUI. But I don't know how to add Items to the second Inventory box only the first.

I plan on making a big Icon Bar and wanted to get a small GUI button to open it. But I can't seem to get the button to work. Here is my code so far

Code: ags
function btnIconBar_OnClick(GUIControl *control, MouseButton button)
{
Display(gIconbar);
}

Thank you I did what you said and it worked.

I'm sorry if I'm being a pain by posting too much but I need help again.

I'm trying to make it where my character can use two different items but not at the same time.
But she keeps using both when I select a certain item. how do I get her to use only one item.
Here is my code

Code: ags
function cmary_UseInv()
{
//Mary puts on black silk dress
cmary.ActiveInventory = idress;
player.ChangeView(1);

//Mary puts on maid outfit
cmary.ActiveInventory = imaid;
player.ChangeView(5);
}

I feel so embarrassed  asking this cause it should be easy but my template I used for battle didn't come with all the basic GUIs. So I tried to add every thing by starting a new game with the GUIs built in and copying the scripts from it to my battle game but the GUIs won't work

Here is a sample of my script

Code: ags
function btnInvOK_Click(GUIControl *control, MouseButton button) {
	// They pressed the OK button, close the GUI
	gInventory.Visible = false;
	mouse.UseDefaultGraphic();
}

function btnInvSelect_Click(GUIControl *control, MouseButton button) {

	// They pressed SELECT, so switch to the Get cursor
	mouse.Mode = eModeInteract;
	// But, override the appearance to look like the arrow
	mouse.UseModeGraphic(eModePointer);
}

function btnIconInv_Click(GUIControl *control, MouseButton button) {

  show_inventory_window();
}

function btnIconCurInv_Click(GUIControl *control, MouseButton button) {

  if (player.ActiveInventory != null)
    mouse.Mode = eModeUseinv;
}

function btnIconSave_Click(GUIControl *control, MouseButton button)
{
  show_save_game_dialog();
}

function btnIconLoad_Click(GUIControl *control, MouseButton button)
{
  show_restore_game_dialog();
}

function btnIconExit_Click(GUIControl *control, MouseButton button) {

  QuitGame(1);
I believe the problem should be in there some where.

Well I've figured out that it stops at 4 HP if that helps any. Thanks for telling me how to get the HP numbers. Now I guess I can look over my script for the number 4 maybe I'll find the problem that way.
