Two options that I know of to convert midi to wav with your choice of sounds are vst instruments (supported by cubase, for example), and soundfonts (don't remember which software I used).
So if you can find either a vst instrument or a soundfont that sounds like a PC speaker you can use those with a software that supports the format.

General Discussion / Re: We are not bemused
Mon 18/08/2014 04:00:43
This thread bemuses me.

I want to try and tackle this from a different direction, and provide a more compelling reason to change the meaning of bemused: the original meaning has more popular synonyms- confused, puzzled, perplexed.
On the other hand, there is no word for "detached amusement", and there should be. So in that sense the language is evolving by becoming richer.

Edit: oh, pretty much what Baron said...

You're asking for the holy grail.
There is a very fine line between a funny dialogue and a tedious one.
I think the best way to tackle it is to let people who you think have the "right" sense of humor to enjoy the game play it, and see their reactions. You'll be able to spot which jokes work and which don't.
But even that might not be enough, as I can find a dialogue funny on a Monday and not funny on a Tuesday, depending on my mood at that day.
So good luck with that.. ;)
One last thought- I think the beginning of the game is very important, if you find the first jokes funny, you'll probably be more inclined to laugh at the rest of jokes too, even if they're not as good.

The following predictions are not formulated through any conviction but rather through contrarianism:  the only way I can win is by betting against popular opinion and hoping I get reeeeeeeally lucky!   ;-D
Taking your idea to the extreme:

12-Jul  Brazil 2 - 4 Netherlands
13-Jul  Germany 0 - 4 Argentina

Scantily clad female mounties driving motorbikes in ass-less chaps down the frozen, empty highways of post-apocalyptic Canada; demonic canine and sadistic avian antagonists frolicking about the Schmendersons' apartment; 1001 ways to win (and lose) beer; and a sure-fire roadmap to commercial AGS success: what's not to covet?  :=
This should have been in the promotional poster.

AFAIK in C# (if we take one for analogies) "internal" structs are those that cannot be used by external module. Here we have a struct that may be used externally (in scripts) but cannot be created with "new" by scripts.
Exactly, therefore Internal is not a good candidate in my opinion.

That would be confusing indeed. In C# static classes mean they cannot be instantiated (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/79b3xss3.aspx). So either support that or define private/protected constructor.
But static implies you can have only one, this is not the case here, you do have instances.

Protected or internal constructors are an option but would not be friendly to the AGS scripters who has no access to the inners of the built-in types, and so will have to learn by compilation errors.

The "builtin" keyword might sound like a good option, but I think that having to invent a new keyword should ring an alarm that maybe we're doing something wrong here, maybe we're thinking we're dealing with a new beast that was not seen before, but that's not the case.
And I think the term that is missing here is interfaces.
Interfaces can be used but not instanciated. Replacing our built in types with built in interfaces (only in the API that's exposed to AGS script, the engine will use the same types that will just implement those interfaces) will give greater readability to the fact they can't be instanciated, and will also give some other extensibility benefits. A user will be able to provide a different implementation to the character interface, and it will work out of the box with modules that use the character interface, for example. And if we have sub interfaces like a position interface that is implemented by the character, object and gui interfaces, it will make the code much more flexible (the tween module could be much simplified, for example).

What a terrible round for me! 0 out of 4!
And to think I was one goal away from getting the correct results for each of those matches...

Oh well...

That's great news!

There was a discussion about it here that you might want to brush up on.

Other than scintilla, the natives dll is probably the biggest hurdle. Like CW said, it has to be re-written in managed code.

Also, there's a utility somewhere on mono's website that loads all the code and searches for mono compatibility issues.
I used it a few years ago and fixed some of the issues (search for mono in the code), but you will find more if you use it...

Go Netherlands!

As for Argentina, I find it hard to believe they'll take the cup on Brazilian soil, with all the people booing them. If it will happen, it will be devastating for the Brazilians, I think.

There's also one in New York.
Planning to go there sometime soon...
