I would say, no. It's not any more targetted than the billboard you see when you walk down the street.

As to your second question. I'm not 100% sure, but I think you add the soldiers name to the buddy list. I wouldnt know as I have no buddies... :P The only use I have found for the username is to log in.

And back to my actual topic! :)

Noone here plays the game? :-\

Quotethat doesn't make it any less crap or any less intrusive, EA make enough money without needing to advertise to people who are too busy shooting eachother to even notice them. it should have been an optional install.

Sure it does.. It's not like you have to watch it. Most people just ignore them and keep blowing eachother up. It's not like there are popups and stuff. And all of the ads I've seen doesnt even stand out. It's just another prop in the world of destruction.
And people have always been interrested in making more money. It's a part of human nature, called greed. But alas... I have no need to convert you! Just keep hating..

There is nothing that requires you to open any ports. The "adware/spyware crap" that you talk about, are subtle ads by companies on ingame billboards. None of the ads, whatsoever, are installed on your computer. The only thing they do, is that they check your IP address and show you advertisement in your language.

@Jim: What part of the game did you work on? :)

@Ishmael: You don't like the account name? The account name is actually hidden ingame. You create a solier, which you name, so most likely, noone would ever see your account name. Ignore this if I obviously misunderstodd.

Awesooome!!! :D I've been waiting for this game! :)
Congratulations with finishing! :)

I bought this game yesterday, and I already love it! I have been playing BF2 for some while now, and I must say, even though there are alot alike, this game has improved.

Well, basically what I posted about the game for, was because I wondered if there are anyone here who also play this game. I would love to play with someone I know, and not just random people on random servers. :)

Thanks :) Yes, I saw the flashing when I first posted it here, and has fixed that part.
I also realized something I did mighty wrong now. The head goes down, and so does the hair. The hair would go more up when his head goes down... Correct me if I'm wrong! (just thinking out loud)

I'll post the new edit as soon as it's done! Meanwhile, if there are anyone else who has any suggestions, I'd be glad to take them.

:)

Done! :D I actually had a very hard time deciding here, but the top three entries are:

3rd: Monkey! Great colouring and you kept the original shape well! A little more character would have been nice, but overall a great Sprite! :)

2nd: Mikko! Awesome idea! Love the colouring and the originality :)

1st: Tocsik! Just an overall awesome sprite and colouring! Great job! :) You decide the rules on the next compo!

And:

Everyone else who entered and did their best get this. Just keep it the way it is, or insert your own colouring from the shoulders and up! :)

Great job everyone! :)

Well... Where to begin? I have really gotten nowhere when it comes to games development. I think I have cancelled one ongoing game from last year, started, and ended one game, and got a mac which I love, but removes any chance of me actually opening the AGS editor.
Forum related, I think I have gotten alot further. Not that there is an actual way to get further in forums, but I really like the way things are turning out. Dunno why.. Maybe people have started hating me less.

Lately though, I actually picked up my productivity. I am writing a story for a game, which are by now about 2 pages long. I have several  backgrounds ready, a finished sprite with animation etc. :) I'm not promoting anything here, but it seems like I actually found a way to work. I do almost everything here on the mac, and when I feel it's time, I take the whole process to the livingroom where the pc is. So, I have a pc, but the family uses it alot, so it would be hopeless for me to make everything there. Setting my limit much lower too for this game so I won't get tired of the amount of work needed.

So to sum it up.. It looks like it's going better :)

QuotePlatypus's have beaks also?

It's the same thing...

The fact that humans can blow up planets is not any more unnatural than for example a monkey using a rock to open a nut! It's a species using a tool to accomplish a task. What you say are something like "Humans aren't animals! We use tools to do stuff."
Well, yeah, thats because we have the fucking intelligence to do so. And we are not the only species to use tools.

Monkeys:
QuoteIn Tanzania, chimps construct tools from grass and twigs which they use to extract ants from their holes.  Wild chimps have also been observed using sticks to withdraw honey from beehives, dig up edible roots, and as levers to open boxes of bananas left by scientists.  Leaves are also used as tools by chimps for collecting water and for wiping mud, blood, and sticky fruit from their bodies.

Vultures:
QuoteHungry Egyptian vultures use ingenuity in obtaining their food.  Since the shells of ostrich eggs are too hard to break open by simply pecking at them, the vultures use rocks to assist them.  According to reports by Jane Goodall from Tanzania, the vultures will search as far as 50 yards from the coveted egg in order to find a proper smashing tool.  Interestingly, the forward jerking movement of the vultures' head exhibited when breaking an egg with a stone is very similar to the movement used when the bird simply pecks to break open an egg.  Other species of birds break eggs open by throwing them down on stones.  However, this behavior is not considered tool use because the stone is not being used as an extension of the bird's body.

And more animals!

The only main difference is that humans have the intelligence to do it on a larger scale.
