Aaaah, thanks!!!  I had tried different areas but had not hit on the "top left corner" solution.  Much appreciated.
Still thoroughly enjoying this lovely game. (Getting near end now, I think).

1) Hmmmm!!!  My brain didn't work well for that mini-game!   Thanks a stack for your prompt help, allowing me to continue with the game now.

2) I have another query.  Throughout the game so far I am often having a big problem to click an inventory item on a hotspot, even though I have found the "label"(object-name).   I find the label, I click the inventory-item's icon on that exact spot, and it seldom works, then I have to keep doing trial and error, until I accidentally hit the hotspot, maybe tyring up to 10 times before I hit it. It is VERY frustrating and spoils a beautiful game.   Am I missing a different method here, or is it a Windows XP compatability problem, or what?   I have played point-and-click adventures for something like 30 years (since the days of the Kings Quest series) and never had such severe hotspot problems.

3) On the positive side, this game is terrific, the dialogues are well designed and logical, the graphics are excellent, the plot is very logically designed and the music /sound effects etc are also great.  Fantastic work, except for the hotspot problem.
I actually preferred A Cat's Night 1, but that is personal taste, and A Cat's night 2 is nevertheless a lovely game, well worth while and rewarding to play.  Both games are highly recommended - well done indeed!!!

At the herbalists when I have ingredients, I cannot understand how to use the mixing-screen to

make the infusion.  at the start of mixing, I click red, it then makes another red on the left panel.  Then I click blue, and it carries red, blue and yellow across to the right panel.   I click another red and it thrn shows two red plus one blue and one yellow at right, but then how do I tell the game that I have finished with ingredients? Also, at times it seems to randomly move colours other than I clicked, to right or back to left.

Please help re the process itself!  Thanks, Wendy

I happy you can go back to enjoying the game  I must work on this pause feature and try to disable it when save game window is open.
Hi Gribbler.  Finsihed The Bum.  Thanks again for your help.  Lovely game which I thoroughly enjoyed. Nice graphics, nice "plot", and excellent fun.  Lovely attention to "supporting" detail / atmosphere, e.g. the girl skipping in the park.  Well done indeed.  Highly recommended.  Regards, Wendy

Solved by Gribbler!  Gribbler, you are a star.   Based on your reply, I carefully checked it out :-the spacebar key turns on the PAUSED message while saving the game using a save-name with more than one word e.g. got<spacebar>bucket.    I particularly watched the sequence and PAUSED is definitely appearing after pressing spacebar.  If the save-name has 3 words (2 spaces), it turns on PAUSED on the first spacebar and turns it off on the 2nd spacebar.  So, when the gamescreen comes up after saving, if it has a PAUSED message, pressing spacebar clears it.  Don't know why that did not work before when I tried every key including spacebar, but now it does!!  As you said, maybe my keyboard's spacebar is quirky!!! However, the system-problem definitely kicks in on every save where there is one or more space in the save-name.
Anyone else who hits this problem, will benefit from our forum discussion and your solution!!!
Thanks a million, Gribbler!!!  Regards, Wendy

Hi Wendy,

Do you by any Chance remember when you downloaded the game? On 2nd May I've uploaded new version but forgot to change its numer ( :( ), it's still 1.01. I turned off debug mode in it which, I think, was causing some problems with the Pause Game feature. If you have the "first" 1.01, the one before 2nd May (uploaded around 8pm UK time) then downloading new one might help.

Hi Gribbler, thanks a stack for your prompt reply.  I am using Windows XP PC, and I had originally downloaded the game within the last week.  However I today deleted the original game-files and the saved-games,and re-downloaded again today.  I however still get the problem of the game-paused message. It appears onscreen after I have typed in the game-save name, but before clicking "SAVE".  Then after saving, the PAUSED message stays permanently on screen. I can move around and interact now (no longer frozen), but the game-paused message stays on screen all the time, making it impossible to play the game because the game-paused message covers a lot of the screen, hence I can't see enough screen-details to play (very frustrating).  I have done 2 screen dumps, if that would help you, but just please tell me how to send you the screen-dumps if you need them.
Isn't there some key-combination that will remove the PAUSED message? There usually is, for pause-functions. I tried all single keyboard-keys, including "P", and have tried Ctrl+P and Alt+P, but no luck.
Game is excellent as far as I got to yesterday (talked to Roy in shop, talked to manhole man), and I would love to be able to fully play your interesting and well-designed (so far) game. Regards, Wendy

Hi Gribbler
I have The Bum version 1.01.  Sometimes when I save a game, a "PAUSED" message/window pops up in the "play"/game screen and locks-out any further action, I cannot find a way to get rid of the PAUSED message and mouse-clicks etc are ignored.  I tried pressing every key (one by one) on my keyboard with no luck to unlock / unpause the game.
Please, how do I get turn off the PAUSED situation?
Many thanks

Thanks, HandsFree.  Appreciate your suggestion, I did not know how to contact him.
However, I have a few minutes ago eventually found the solution: - I was being "blind" - duh!!!
The answer is to  use the red lazer pen, not the ink-pen!!!!  I can't believe I missed that simple answer for so long.
Anyway, I must say I enjoyed this game, it is very well done, as are many of the RON games.

Have tried several times - still canot find paper or anything to write on to empty ink from pen.  Talked to everyone, nobody has anything to say.  Tried writing on all surfaces throughout play-area, no luck.  Please help, anyone!

Hi Ponch, thanks a stack for your reply.  Funny enough, I had thought of using up the ink by writing with the pen.  Seeing that I have no paper, I had tried writing on likely surfaces (wall-panels etc) but no luck.  I have had another search and cannot find paper anywhere. I have tried clicking the pen on all the characters and also tried to talk to each of them, but those 2 tactics do not work to obtain paper.  Can you or anyone else tell me where to find more paper?  (My original paper is on the teleporter ready to "send" and I cannot pick it up again).  Thanks. Reality-on-the-Norm / RON : Note to Self

I posted my query yesterday but it seems to have not gone though.  Here it is again:-
Towards the end of the RON game "Note to Self", I have opened the access panel on the bot (Phil), but it needs something to keep it open.  The walkthrough states that you must "use the pen WITHOUT INK" on the panel to keep it from sliding shut.  I have a pen in inventory but it is full of ink.  It will not work on the opened bot.  Despite much searching and talking to all characters, I cannot find a way to empty the ink out of the pen. Please help - what am I missing, how do I get the ink out so I can prop the panel open and get the chip out of the bot.
Regards and thanks, Wendyj
