Thankyou very much for your suggestions. I never would have found the fix had I not tried them out. What I discovered was that I was able to get AGSeditor to run in windows safemode, and this really confused me.

Investigating further I learned the problem turns out to be with my CA firewall. AGSeditor (versions 3 and above) must be added to the "safeapps" program group. Adding it to the "trusted" group or disabling the firewall isn't enough. There are a bunch of other programs that have this problem with CA's firewall, which is how I found the solution.

Thanks again.

Maybe uninstall the .NET framework and and re-install it.

Did a complete uninstall and re-install of .net framework and tested it with other programs.  Still same symptoms with AGSeditor.

I am new to AGS and am hating that my first post is an "unable to run" post but I hope that there is someone who can help me with to my prob. I am not that technical but can usually follow along.

When I run the editor, vers 3 and above (3.1, 3.1.2-SP1, and 3.2-Final2), I get a splash screen and then nothing. The program ends. No error messages. Nothing. It's as if the program is trying to run and then something tells it to quit.

I have installed and played some AGS games, marionette for example, with no problems.

When I run ver 2.7 of the editor,  it runs fine.

I am running XP pro, 1gig ram, latest .net 1,2, and 3, and latest nVidia drivers.

I thought it might be a firewall/virus protection (Computer Associates) thing so I disabled it and reinstalled  AGS but still have the same problem.

I am guessing it has to be something unique to my PC as no one else seems to have posted this problem. Any ideas on how to fix it would be greatly appreciated.
