Tokyo's Sky City proposal (as seen on Extreme Engineering (Discovery Channel)) is a pretty cool concept.

Facts
- With a height of 1,000 meters and a total floor area of 800 hectares, SKY CITY 1000 is a superhigh-rise city comprising 14 concave dish-shaped, aerial bases called, "Space Plateaus" stacked one upon the other. 
- Residences, offices, commercial facilities, schools, theaters and so forth are organically located in these spaces. 
- 35,000 people will reside here, and 100,000 people will work here.

Am I remembering correctly that there are licensing issues with regard .mp3, especially if used in a commercial game? Same goes for .jpg? Or was that just a bad dream I had a long time ago????

Scotch, rereading the thread I realize I posted the same reply. Sorry about that, I try to read all posts before posting; obvioulsy I missed yours (and go figure it's right before mine ).

But I agree with your statements, especially with regard to animating & Pro Motion.

I can pretty much do all of my sprite work in MS Paint; BUT that doesn't mean it's the easiest or most efficient tool to use. Especially when it comes to animated sprites (see ***).

I prefer to use Pro Motion. (btw 'Yahtzee' uses Photoshop)

I like the work you did, and i think bucketheads added to it by darkening it a bit. I have a few crits to add.

1. I think the tree could be a bit more ominous. Something like the the following could be added. Could also use some more smaller branches and detailing.



2. The windows with the lights on should still show some hint of curtains being there.

3. The bricks and a other elements of the hotel could use some aging and lose some of their 'perfectness'; especially the window sills, & pipes. Also some ivy clinging to the sides and fronts would really add to a lived in appearance.

4. Perhaps add some pots with a plant/small tree to either side of the door. And darken the grass on the right rear of the house (the area that is along the edge of the building).

Probably nothing new to you, but I didn't know these were playable right over the internet without any install!

Well you can't save progress, but at least I can kill some time at work. You can't save or install anything on these computers, so this works for me. Think I'll see how long it takes me to get through Hitchiker's!

I have a Sony Vaio laptop which ran me $1,500.00 and it's quirky as heck. I am much happier with my $1,000.00 Acer w/ 2gb ram, and Nvidia 8600GT. And the Toshiba that I picked up for $499.00 from best buy, actually out performs that Sony.

I have owned a couple of Dell laptops, and I haven't been impressed. More specifically I would stay away from the Lattitude line. For some reason their touch pad has a mind of it's own. It begins drifting all over the place. I have a feeling it's the location and the way it's wired. I have seen this on two models, 1 being the c610. I have also had the aforementioned standby/sleep issues with them; and noisy Failing HD's and heating issues to boot.

Abisso, you did a excellent job. It's just sublte changes that are being made, which just winds up taking some time, becuase it doesn't jump out as being incorrect so easily. I also need to keep the context in mind, as the dialogue is not in reading order; rather intermixed with all possible outcomes.

Most of the edits are tense agreements or phrases that don't translate exactly to english. But your translation was nearly 98% on the mark, from what I can tell. For the most part early reorganized the order of the parts of speech.

For example, I guess in Italian it's an insult to talk to one's shoulders. Where in English or the U.S. it's known as talking to one's back, or talking to the back of one's head.

Graphics 50% done... Is most of the game or all going to look like those screenshots. I can't judege without playing but I don't see much of anything, except darkness. I gather this advenutre relies heavily on story/text.

LOL: I am reading this at work, and all I saw was black screens; with the little color parts;  because the monitor is up higher than normal and it's an lcd. Upon standing up I saw the backgrounds. Could be interesting.

When I complete the last page tonight, I will remove the original translation lines and my comments. I wanted to leave them in for now, so I could go back over them after it's complete. This way if something doesn't make sense, I would still have the original translation.

BTW: It's taking a bit longer because of translations that make sense, but sometimes not quite what is meant. Just like 'long enough' and 'quite long'. Last night I almost edited "eruction" to "erection"; rather than "eruption". Good thing I caught myself. lol. Also trying to avoid any "All your base belong to us!"

Finally there are some vague, edits. Should I lean more towards U.K. words or U.S., ie Flat vs. Apartment. Colour vs. Color. Metric system vs. Feet & inches. etc...

Well both sites have something to offer, so I appreciate it. I have my old computers but haven't set them up since i moved. About 2 years ago I was big into emulators but lost most of my files on a bad HD that I didn't back up.

Are there also 'classics' versions of LSL series, SQ series, and Sierra or infocom games that will run on vista, available anywhere?

It's been a long time since I've played adventure games. Besides playing Missing about a year or two ago.

I was hoping someone could reccommend a site where I can purchase new and old adventure games that will run under vista. Stores by me just don't carry many of these games anymore and it's difficult for me to weed out what is/was good from the bargain bins.

It would also be helpful if the site had some screenshots, reviews, and or general plot/setting info.

Thanks for any help you can provide.
