I recently launched a first version of Ponderabilia in the freeware section, and at this point in time it is completely soundless. The original soundartist I had recruited did not come through, and I still think it would be a major asset to the game to have decent sounds running. I have a list of sounds required, and am currently looking for someone that is willing to create the music and effects in exchange for their name in the credits. All help is very welcome. Thank you. (Should you wish to check Ponderabilia out to have an idea, it's listed in the Games directory and currently has several threads running in the forum)

I'm not a musician but I have fun playing around with soundfx...

I got a nice selection of freeware sounds, collected over years, so I may be able to provide some sound effects. If you're interested, just PM (nod)

To be completely honest, I'm looking for a bit more than sound effects. The lead characters in the game need to have a little tune that is specific to them (I'm talking about the characters of Ankou, Syph, the Shaman and the Oracle), and I would really love to have a specific intro tune that is unique to Ponderabilia. I know this is a lot to ask, but I'm really determined to make this into the best possible game.

Ghost

Ah, right- then maybe specifically asking for a *musician* might be better. I started to play Ponderabilia- it looks gorgeous and plays well, so I daresay you'll find someone (nod)

Thanks Ghost! I'm not above the free library, either, so feel free to PM me. :) Also, if you liked Ponderabilia, please rate. It hasn't got enough ratings yet to show up.

Ghost

PM'd. :)

Don't worry about ratings in the DB; your game's just been added, and it can take weeks before a rating becomes available. I'll rate once I've completed the game (nod)

Hi Moloko,
there is this free software called Bfxr that I heard a lot of indie developers use, and its not bad. Its based of an earlier program called Sfxr I think. It gives you ability to create 8 bit sound effects. Check it out!(you can download stand alone version for windows, if you like the software, you don't have to use the web based one). I haven't actually used it myself, but I think it could be useful.

Thanks Bogdan! I've been playing around with it for a bit tho, and it's mostly geared towards platformers, which is completely different from what I'm looking for. It must indeed be a musician I'm looking for...

For sound this looks interesting:

For music, I like the following site as a fan of music in general, but I'm not sure how you would go about looping these tracks for game use:

We all have our time machines, don't we?

Hey Moloko !

I've just done a first run on the game (and I'm sadly bugged with the plier/electricity thing, but I'll retry later, from scratch if needed), and it is really great ! :D

I'm a music composer, and I'd be glad to write something for this, but to be honest, I have no idea of the kind of ambiance needed. The way the game looks serious, is kinda 'gore' in some ways (can't find a better word to describe it, but gore isn't the exact good one), and is in fact really funny... makes it hard for me to figure out what kind of music would work !

Anyway, feel free to contact me via if you're still looking for some musics !
MP, or here eldogond[at]gmail.com !

PS : I can't do the sounds FX thought :/ Only music, sadly.

To all people in this thread, and AGS-ers in general:

I have been positively swamped with talent after posting this request. Lots of people have been sending me tracks and amazing audio, and it looks like the game will have a complete soundtrack in no time. At this point in time I have most of the music covered. If I have contacted you personally, the information I gave you on what we needed is still accurate. At this point in time, and if I haven't sent you a personal message, we only need sound effects, but I figure that is something that we can definitely arrange (unless there is someone among you that breathes foley...)

I would like to thank all of you for the wonderful talent, the hard work and the inspirational mails. In ten years time (and to my shame) AGS has grown from a community of dabbling amateurs to a professional network, and it's great to be able to tap into that. Thanks so much everyone for helping me finish a personal project before I die. :)
