In stead of games, anyone here who also still own old vintage software?
If so, share a photo  :)

Still got this one on the shelf: Broderbund Software's BannerMania from 1989.
Used this program quite a lot for school projects back when I was about 14 years old.

The sPatch modeler. I still use it, and it still installs and runs on this Windows 7 system. I do have to jump through some hoops to get the models out of sPatch and into some of the other programs, since it only exports to a couple of file types. An endearing quirk...

did you seriously skin win7 to a win98 theme?

and what will happen in about 400 years after 90 more windows versions? will they have a windows 98 again? Or will linux have taken over the world by then?

I do that too :). Easier for the eyes.

Windows 98 never get old, boy! :D. I don't think that linux will take over the world by then because of my two wild assumptions:

1) Microsoft's business backbone is Windows and they will not ever abandon it. They'll try tooth and nail to make it best (money speaks, ofcourse).

2) Apart from Linux, many more Operating Systems will be released having greater features than Linux and there is Apple Inc. too. They wouldn't want to run themselves out of the business, do they?

The oldest program I regularly use is Paint Shop Pro 7, which came out in 2000.

Btw, to get Win7 to look like in that screenshot you just have to deactivate all the Aero stuff, right? When I have to start somebody else's computer in safe mode because they got a trojan, that's how it looks.

I still have some old applications (Deluxe Pain(t) 2+4, Borland Pascal etc) but those are still shelved at my parent's house.
On my Amiga I rely on Workbench 3.1 and Directory Opus 5 almost every time I boot up the machine.

As for Windows - I use the classic mode too :)

@ Selmiak - Yeppers, only the cat stomping across the keyboard late one night is partly to blame. Took her fewer keystrokes to make the change than it has ever taken me.

@ Khris - Correct, if that was a question. Right Click on desktop -- Personalize -- scroll down to Basic and High Contrast Themes and pick Windows Classic. But, you knew that already, I'd guess.

I got a used copy of Deluxe Paint 2 that I occasionally use. Mostly for mapping muds as the program has built in grid support. Of course having to port the maps for PCX to GIF is a slight hassle...
