The AGS Panel is a team of AGS forum veterans who play all of the games here, and give them ratings from one to five cups. The rating system is as follows:
1 Cup Not serious entertainment
2 Cups A reasonable game, worth a try
3 Cups A good game, worth playing
4 Cups A great game, well worth your time
5 Cups An outstanding, must-play game!
Feel free to disagree with the panel's rating, and please don't be offended if you think your game has been underrated!

(Why has my game been rated 1 cup?)

If your game has been rated 1 cup, please don't be offended! It's common for your first game release to get a 1-cup rating, due to the game having a lack of polish and flair -- which is understandable, because you're just getting started!

Please understand that the main purpose of the ratings is to help potential game players find high quality, bug-free games to play. You've probably learnt a lot about AGS as a result of making your first game -- so why not use that knowledge to start afresh, and do even better with your next game!

About this game

Due to the volume of downloads and attention this little game has received, I decided to release a special edition of LaSol. The special edition can be downloaded from Mirror 1. A short one-room escape game, which won the February 2011 MAGS by a single vote! Stan Winston, a janitor working on a luxurious man-made island resort, the LaSol, is about to have his life turned upside down, quite literally. FEATUERS: - Full voice acting - Original music - Multiple endings - Text languages: English, German, Dutch, Italian and Finnish Web coverage: http://www.switched.com/2011/03/31/submerged-lasol-avoid-the-rising-tide/ http://www.adventuregamers.com/article/id,1287

Nominated, Best Short Game 2011

AGS Panel Review

"Well thought out survival themed game about an ordinary man who finds himself suddenly trapped in the middle of a huge disaster and facing possible death. The gameplay effectively combines real time, multiple threats, red herrings, realistic inventory items and helpful optional actions."

8 people commented on this game (newest first):

This game really surprised me with how good it is. I was not excpecting such a strong game from a single room escape.

WHAM once again proves that he knows suspense and atmosphere. The sense of urgency created by a slowly, but steadily flooding darkening room creates a feeling of claustrophobia and back-of-the-mind panic that frustrates and at the same time makes the player want to come back for more.

If you're looking for an old-school adventure game that can do horror without resorting to cheap scares or encroaching monsters, this is the game for you.

Fun to play with nice voice-acting, interesting setting, good use of a timed-threat and believable puzzles that allow for some flexibility. Kudos for the effective water effects as well.

My only real annoyance was the emergency exit hotspot in the middle of the location which I kept activating while I only wanted to the other side.

Amazing short game. Challenging, good sound effects, music, ambiance and speech. A must play !

My only wish is that all AGS game would be of a such good quality.

Good use of timing and realistic danger to the character outside his control. The way the environment changed (water rising, lights dimming) added to the sense of urgency.

Saving and returning to saves is tricky as its impossible to tell how close a save is to disaster (i.e. if you can change your fate from a particular position or whether there just isn't enough time)

Really nice game. Everything makes it unique(cursors, GUIs, sounds), and even though It's short - I had a lot of fun playing it!

Very good. Despite being short, this MAGS game packs in a lot of gameplay and replayability. I challenge anyone to complete it successfully first time.

And here comes a game. Initially it gives you the impression that it's nothing but an escape the room kind of game. But then physics comes around. Totally worth my time.
