The AGS Panel is a team of AGS forum veterans who play all of the games here, and give them ratings from one to five cups. The rating system is as follows:
1 Cup Not serious entertainment
2 Cups A reasonable game, worth a try
3 Cups A good game, worth playing
4 Cups A great game, well worth your time
5 Cups An outstanding, must-play game!
Feel free to disagree with the panel's rating, and please don't be offended if you think your game has been underrated!

(Why has my game been rated 1 cup?)

Close window
If your game has been rated 1 cup, please don't be offended! It's common for your first game release to get a 1-cup rating, due to the game having a lack of polish and flair -- which is understandable, because you're just getting started!

Please understand that the main purpose of the ratings is to help potential game players find high quality, bug-free games to play. You've probably learnt a lot about AGS as a result of making your first game -- so why not use that knowledge to start afresh, and do even better with your next game!

About this game

Why can't you remember a time before the snow started falling?

The Cabin is a short, first person, slow-burn psychological thriller set in a cabin. Why is this cabin here? Better yet, why are you here?

The Cabin is proof-of-concept game created in 15 days for the November 2020 AGS monthly adventure game challenge.

Some have found the puzzles a bit challenging. Others have thought that they were too easy.

The first hint is: get the satchel and journal before doing anything else.

The second hint is: carefully investigate each screen for hotspots and clues while inside the cabin.

Alright, where's that first thing? Spoil me.

AGS Panel Review

"Very impressive MAGS entry. Shines in both writing and visual aspects and tells a compelling story."

10 people commented on this game (newest first):

Visually impressive and immersive, in no small part thanks to the well-executed first person perspective. The ending is also great, it managed to both surprise me and creep me out. On the downside, the puzzles, while not bad overall, can be somewhat frustrating and pixel-hunty.

The 3d Graphics in the Ego perspective Point and Click The Bit Priest offers us are fantastic, as is the story with the really surprising and incredible ending.

Nice little game. I found a few of the puzzles a bit cryptic due to missing the interactable areas (i.e. the bed), but it was otherwise fairly logical.

Great achievement visually under the time constraints (MAGS game). I had to use the hint section for a couple of parts verging on pixel hunt but it was fine overall. Original story.

Seriously impressed. The size of it, the implementation... There are some small criticisms that could be made, sure, but in one month this is a hugely impressive achievement.

How fun can it be to make a meal? Quite a lot, it turns out.

Great story, especially at this time of the year (December). Puzzles are difficult but they're logical. This could be one of the biggest game ever done for a monthly competition.

A very professional looking game with 3D graphics and a good story. There was one puzzle where I got a little frustrated and started just clicking around, but in retrospect it was not that hard. There is also some very nice voice acting!
Definitly one of my favorite AGS Games this year.

A bit confused sometimes, though the puzzles are logical. Amazing ending. It just need, perhaps, sound effects or music to improce the feeling of isolation and text during the speeches. It woudl help to non english people to understand the dialog. Great job, anyway.

WOW. Just wow. Incredibly well done. Impressed from the moment the intro started. Loved the navigation system, reminded me of Myst. <Click to Show Spoiler>Interesting dynamic for an adventure game of having to find the Inventory before you can start carrying items.
