The AGS Panel is a team of AGS forum veterans who play all of the games here, and give them ratings from one to five cups. The rating system is as follows:
1 CupNot serious entertainment
2 CupsA reasonable game, worth a try
3 CupsA good game, worth playing
4 CupsA great game, well worth your time
5 CupsAn outstanding, must-play game!
Feel free to disagree with the panel's rating, and please don't be offended if you think your game has been under-rated!

(Why has my game been rated 1 cup?)

Close window
If your game has been rated 1 cup, please don't be offended! It's common for your first game release to get a 1-cup rating, due to the game having a lack of polish and flair -- which is understandable, because you're just getting started!

Please understand that the main purpose of the ratings is to help potential game players find high quality, bug-free games to play. You've probably learnt a lot about AGS as a result of making your first game -- so why not use that knowledge to start afresh, and do even better with your next game!

About this game

The Hotel Hansen is the nicest Hotel this side of the Mississip’, and you need to stay there for the night, because your getting tired, and would like to see the famous establishment erected by Bill Nye himself in 1959. You go into the lobby and get the key to your room, but when you try to get there, almost every door is locked! You are getting tired, so you need to find the keys to all the doors before sunset, when you pass out from exhaustion.

This is the UPDATED version 2.0 of the game. It was released Jan. 1st, 2004. Alot of the problems and bugs have been fixed. For instance, the game is no longer in Debug Mode, and the objects and cursors are re-sized and fixed. A complete list of fixes comes with it.
If the first download link doesn't work for some odd reason, just click on the mirror link. It will bring your to the Hotel Info page, from where you can download it directly off our site.

Sorry dude, but I refuse to pixel hunt. I only got as far as the janitors closet, so I am not qualified to you a + or -. I guess all I can say is I won't pixel hunt. I hope you can work on this point, so I can come back. Maybe I'll try Halloween, then comment. :)

This is the first game ever created by Mad Man Productions, so please be kind with reviews and such. I know its pretty crummy, and the graphics of characters and drawn pretty crudely. This was basically just an experimental game, to test out our capabilities. If you like this game, you should try its sequel, Halloween. It's about twice as good, and explains what happens at the end of the game. If you have any questions about the game (walkthroughs, secrets, etc.) please post them in the Hints and Tips forum. I check it regularly. You can also send my anything else, like questions about future games, comments, or just anything, at
