Thanks for the feedback (I should have mentioned that it was pretty short!)

Ascovel: Any chance you could post the details of the error message?

Here it is:

"Access violation at address 012540C3 in module 'ATKOGL32.dll'. Read of address 0483200."

Cool game, good job Ali! Must have been a lot of work with all those animations. They look good.

What does working with DAGE feel like? has it got what it takes? Seen through this game it looks surprisingly competent.

kaputtnik

I just ran it in WINE under Linux, works pretty well, if a tad slow. A lot of times there was a strange flickering between dialogue lines, as if another line was displayed for a quarter of a second or so, but then after that the correct line would come up. And does Sissy have a walking animation?

Can't give any feedback on gameplay and story, yet, but it really had the Grim Fandango feeling (although this is probably because Grim Fandango is the only 3D adventure game I have ever played, other than I Was A Vegas Showgirl (TM), haha)
I, object.

You probably need to update your graphic card drivers. What graphic card/OS are you using?

Anian

Hmm, well I think the camera was placed a bit too low, in almost every scene, which made it kind of hard to navigate, everything else, from style to puzzles, I liked.
I don't want the world, I just want your half

RadeonX1950 on WinXP and I do have the latest (or should I say last) drivers for it installed.

My computer has only really allowed me to preview it, the animations run fine but walking around is extremely laggy on this machine. But what I saw seemed fantastic Ali, well done! Lots of potential. If only the resolution could be lowered for older machines like mine!

Ok, I really don't have a clue then  ???

I hear you. Though you can change the resolution from config.lua file - all the hud sprites and texts doesn't scale accordingly. So this is something I need to implement on newer versions.

Don't kill me, but for some reason the game started working after I restarted my computer - right now I'm having the time of my life with a Vegas Showgirl. :D

How did you know I'd be eating a cookie when I read the manual??!!

Interesting :) I wish all my programming problems could be solved like this!

Finished it yesterday, I liked the dancing puzzles.

Ali

Thanks for the responses, chaps! Pauli has now created a home for the game here on the DagePort site.

In answer to your questions/comments:

theo: Glad you liked it. Give DAGE a try and see for yourself. It's pretty strong in key adventuring areas like dialogue and inventory systems and room setups. I came across a few big issues with DAGE, but Pauli has done a major re-code since then which looks like it addresses them. It would (will?) benefit from better integration with Blender, but I don't think it's far away from being a robust and well rounded engine.

kaputtnik: Glad to hear it's working on Linux! The dialogue flickering is not unique to you, it's an issue with DAGE which is getting better but is not quite perfect yet!

anian: Interesting comment. I hate high angle cameras, but I'd never thought about it like that! I'll take that into consideration if I ever do something like this again.

Mods: As soon as DAGE supports changing resolution in-game I'll release a Mods edition in super low-definition! It'll probably make my low poly characters look better...

blueskirt: Glad you and others liked the dancing puzzle, it was my favourite too. Though the animation:gameplay ratio was not very efficient. Have another cookie!

Ascovel: Thanks for playing. I'm happy to have introduced you to the age-old technique of turning it off and on again! Take this knowledge and spread it among your people...

Igor Hardy

Now I finished the game. And it was all great (especially the ending). But I still have one burning question...

WHAT HAPPENED WITH THE LUCKY HAT!!!???

Ali

Well...

Spoiler
The answer's in the last line: it's not really that nice a hat. Getting the hat was Billy's goal (and if you know the folk song a guaranteed way of getting killed). To survive the story, Sissy had to realise that she didn't care about the hat and Billy didn't really care about her.

I admit there wasn't very much game for that character development to happen in, but that was my aim!
