View schedule on the website: http://www.screen7.co.uk/adventurex/schedule.html

AGS attendees include: Mods (mark), Azure (becky), theSynapse (tom), Dave Gilbert, Grundislav, Yeppoh, Miez, Blount, Broomie, Intense Degree, theo, Grim, JSH, Technocrat, cat, ddq, Ali, MattFrith, Dragontoad, yamipanda, ... let me know if you're coming!

This year we have an exhibitor space and a lecture theatre which will host a single track of content across both days, including a selection of talks and game demonstrations, a special guest and a panel on each day. We do not get any freebies this year just a bit of a discount so too expensive to have multiple rooms. We will have the cafe open though on both days and that also creates another space to chill out and chat.

As there will not be separate rooms, everything is condensed into a single track line up this year. Doors open a little earlier than usual and the day ends a little earlier too. But there will still be a good selection each day (and time for lunch). We're looking into an evening venue, and also the possibility of a live stream (which in essence should be easier as everything happens in one room this time) but cannot guarantee that. Of course, we'd prefer you to come along ;)

Signup will be possible from Mon 26th Oct onwards.

Interested in exhibiting, talk, panel or something else? Please be aware we have limited spaces, though we are still figuring out just how many we can offer, there may be some additional criteria to guarantee a space/slot. Full information will be on the signup page which will be live at the website in the next couple of days. A full preliminary schedule will be announced sometime in November.

Please remember: No participation is officially considered until you have used the signup system/form at the website and received a confirmation from me personally.

Travel: You may want to consider getting the Tube to Canada Water or Whitechapel and then the Overground rail to New Cross Gate (or New Cross, though trains to this one I think are less frequent/don't run as late). The venue is about a 5 minute walk from New Cross Gate and maybe 5 mins more from New Cross. Here's a map of the Underground and New Cross Gate is on the lower right. Typically, Tube and Overground services stop at roughly midnight. Once on Goldsmiths site, there will be signposts to AdventureX in the Stuart Hall Building.

Hotels: There are many hotels nearby but specifically may be worth trying the Premier Inn, Travelodge and Holiday Inn's in the nearby areas, Deptford, Greenwich, Lewisham. There are also nearby hostels (one in New Cross) though its beds/rooms are going fast.

Hope to see you there!

Andail

Poobungies! I can't make it those dates :(
I'll send some other merry Swedes, most notably Theo Waern and Joel Staaf Hästö, to represent my nation.

cat

Sounds great! And the single-track-only issue I see as a feature, because last time I couldn't decide which talk to see anyway :P
Now I need to start saving money for a hotel room...

Miez

Great to hear it moved to the 12/13 december weekend - this means I can make it as well! ;-D

Grundislav

Woohoo! I am excited!

Some of us have already booked a hotel in Greenwich, if anyone else is interested, The Mercure is pretty decently priced for people sharing rooms.

cat

But if you don't have anyone to share with, it is 8-0

m0ds

Andail, Haha poobungies! Shame you can't make it, but thanks for sending us some Swedes :D

Grundy, glad to hear you've found a hotel and secured flights!

Cat, hotels, well for ultra cheap there's the New Cross House hostel I think it's called. There's also a Travelodge just a bit lower and to the left (of the Mercure) on Googlemaps which is about 200 for 3 nights. A Premier Inn just to the north I think at about 250 for 3 nights. And there's one a bit further away a Holiday Inn Express in Greenwich which is about 130 for 3 nights (with breakfast included) but not sure what bus connection it would require. It's also worth considering places along the Overground route via New Cross Gate which operates til midnight-thirty on Fri + Sat and 11.30pm Sunday. Canada Water, Whitechapel etc though I haven't looked into those myself. Hope you find something :)

PS. Thanks for the donation Misja! See you there then :)

Azure

You may also want to search for B&Bs since those are a lot cheaper than hotels in general. Same-ish price as the Mercure is the City Stay which has a kitchenette
www.voiceacting.space - Casting Calls for voice actors

cat

Thanks for the tips, I'll check out the Travelodge and the Premier Inn.
I had a look at the New Cross House but the reviews are terrible, even for a hostel :(

I wanna go! I wanna go! Why am I not living in Watford again this year, dang iiit.
I'm still going, I'm still going!

theo

Great to see this finally properly announced. We are indeed definitely attending! I hope to bring my colleagues mathias and henrik as well. :D

SO looking forward to this, had an awesome time last year! :-D

Love,

COWCAT

I *might* be interested to come (I'd love to show Demetrios there!) but I can't make a promise yet. I have an issue with my ID card which I have to renew (expired but it's "normal", the government increased the date but it's not written on the card...) and I have to evaluate the cost.

I'm hoping to be there again this year, on the Saturday at least.

As divulged by Andail, I will be attending this year, super psyched about my first AdventureX! :)

*edit I'm coming in late on Friday, heading back on Sunday evening. I'll be staying at the Mercure too!

Dave Gilbert

I'm booked! I arrive on Thursday morning and I'm staying till Tuesday. I'm also staying at the Mercure.

Technocrat

I shall see you all there! Since I now actually live in London, maybe I should consider being hospitable, or something.

Broomie

I'm at the Mercure too! Me and Jen Pattison will be showing off the new Infamous Quests game. Look forward to seeing everyone!

Great! Thought it would take me a couple more days but have managed to sort out the application form now. Pretty sure it's all working. (nod)

Whilst applications aren't on a "1st come 1st served" basis, there are a few additional questions on the form this year because we do still have limited spaces for all areas (due to the single track of events nature this time).

Follow the "apply" image on various pages for more info if you want to be an exhibitor, demonstrate a game, give a talk, be on a panel etc. If you contact me personally I will still ask you to fill out one of these forms so we have everything on record, thank youp!

http://www.adventurexpo.co.uk

Yeppoh

Booked flight, filled the application form, only the accomodation is left, and I'm good to come this year as well!

ddq

Flight and Mercure room booked. Hope to see everyone from last year and more!

cat

Flight is booked!

I have a suggestion for this year: Could we have name tags? Last year, there were several AGSer at AdventureX I didn't talk to, because I didn't know who they are. With name tags or just plain stickers, everyone could write their name and/or nickname on them and it is easy to recognize people. Even better would be blue cup stickers for AGS folks!

Peder 🚀

I don't think I'll ever make AdventureX... Why did you pick the most awkward time of the year to host these? :P

selmiak

@cat: Just craft some cool blue cup hats like you did with that finger puppets ;-D

Grim

This will be my third Adventure X ;) Really looking forward to it!!! :)

Nah, I booked a flight without check-in-luggage, so no space for that ;)

Matt Frith

I can't believe it's the fifth year of AdventureX already. Looking forward to seeing everyone again!  I will be staying in a hotel close by this time instead of travelling from home (around 2 hours each way) so that will make a nice change.

m0ds

#30
Haha, will try and sort out some stickers of some kind sure but a bit like everyone else, we're only turning up with a napsack too. Too many problems (such as can't park anywhere so can't bring a car full of stuff), costs & restrictions this year prevents us from really going all out and providing this that and the other.

Nice one Matt, see you there!

Chicky

Excited to return to AdventureX and see everyone, big well done on getting everything organized!

I think a name badge is definitely in order this time :-D

Sorry the application form is down at the moment.

HAS ANYONE SEEN HAJO ;)

My emails have completely died, so no point emailing me at the mo either lol. There's a slim chance the site (and all my sites) may go down too cos that's what usually happens when emails become unaccessible and hajo can't be found/reached. It may be related to an email spam issue I've had lately, I have no idea at this point other than I can't send or receive and the built in emailers on the websites aren't working either.

I don't think I can deal with an entire move to a new host to solve these problems immediately, though that's probably entirely necessary for me to do as soon as I can - but will try and get an alternative application method up asap (wtf)

It's fixed for now, you can apply again ;) If you did so in the last couple of days and you haven't seen your game/name mentioned on the site you'll need to do it again please http://www.screen7.co.uk/adventurex/apply.html

JoelMayer

I'm gonna be there too, even though i'm not a frequent forum user but looking forward to meeting some of you :)

theSynapse

Don't worry - I'm not a proper forum member either, but I'm helping with the venue!

You won't be the only non-AGS Forum member there. Look forward to meeting you.

I'm Tom by the way.

JoelMayer

Thanks, looking forward as well :)

I'm a Visionaire Guy, i confess, but but... AGS still has the best Community and all i want is frieeeeends :~( :P:-D

cat

Actually, since this an adventure game event and not an AGS event, there are many people not from the forums. There is a nice mix of game makers, game players, journalist and other people just interested in adventure games.

Looking forward to meeting you all!

m0ds

Suggested "alternate" venue for Friday, Sat and Sun evening - we have pretty much reserved a space now but the place is large enough anyway so we may not even need to use it. Food served til 10pm. Note this pub only opens from midday: http://www.thenewcrosshouse.com/find-us

Other note for hotel folks in the deptford direction: It's probably a 20-30 min walk from the Mercure, if you get a bus from that direction be aware it will drop you off in Lewisham way (a 1 way system) by the Uni main entrance (West side of google map), and you'll need to walk up to the New Cross House (that takes all of 1 minute) otherwise you'll end up at New Cross Gate, which is only 5 mins walk away so not a huge problem but just so you know.

ddq

M0ds, Azure told me that you might want some assistance with the livestream. I'm bringing my laptop and would love to help run the stream.

Blount

Will we have another Adventure Game Trivia? Last year's was excellent!! ;)

yamipanda

Flight and hotel booked! :D I'll be staying at The Mercure as well.

m0ds

Good stuff!!

Wifi/stream is still in unknown status sorry, I did try the wifi at the venue last week and er, it didn't work at all... Hope to test it again at end of month, in a slightly more official capacity than the test last week.

Quiz: Yes that is quite likely...watch this space I guess!

Miez

Flight and hotel booked - I will be staying at Staycity Aparthotels Deptford Bridge Station. Which is even closer to the venue than the Mercure :D

m0ds

Neato! Just a couple of weeks now then...

Just to add that our Sunday special guest will be Steve Ince, who I had promised to make a return as he was only able to appear via skype 2 years ago. So there will be a chance to meet him and undoubtedly gain some writing and publishing tips. The schedule will be online around Dec 1st ... it's filled now - the application form is available for another day or two if anyone else wants to exhibit, but will be taken down very soon - regards!

theSynapse

Schedule?

Whoops, just read previous post properly!

Meh.. seeing the schedule I really wish I had the finances to come, the whole schedule seems really interesting..
Is anyone going to record the talks/panels?

Azure

Someone normally does and keep your fingers crossed for the live stream.
www.voiceacting.space - Casting Calls for voice actors

Azure

Since someone asked me to there is now a Google calendar/ICS file for the event. If you open the ICS file on a compatible phone it will save the schedule to your phone. You can also open the google calendar html link and save just the things you want. ( save the trees etc)

See you there shaun! cat, suggested The New Cross House next to the venue. Should be plenty of room and should be some space reserved for us if it's busy. Oh and forgot to catch up and ask will you be bringing any stickers even blank ones?

ddq

cat

Great, see you there on Friday! I just bought about 180 blank stickers, can you provide pens?

selmiak

cool,  I'd rather be there than just watching the stream, but better than nothing! The logo on twitch looks more like AduX than AdvX.

cat

Boarding starts, I'm so excited! See you in the evening!

yamipanda

I'm at the airport now. Will be in London in a couple of hours. See you guys soon. :D

Dave Gilbert

Arrived yesterday. I'm here at the Mercure, finishing up my presentation. Ping me if anyone wants to hang out!

Chicky

Gutted, don't think I'll be coming this weekend. Some family troubles have cropped up and with general life responsibilities I've not got the time to travel up to London.

Have fun everyone!

yamipanda

Just arrived at the Mercure and noticed I had my shirt on inside out, 10 hours after I left home ... I think I need a nap.

Matt Frith

A few of us are in the mercure bar if anyone is lonely.

neon

Since the 2014 thread is closed, I'm posting here.

While cleaning up my hard disk for the 2015 show I stumbled about Gigabytes of video material from 2014. It's actually pretty poor quality as the camera in the room was a bit older and didn't catch light and sound as expected. I've started to cut a bit of it, unfortunately I can't do everything as I'm already packing my stuff for London.

However, here some more stuff from last year:

Man, I watched it from the first beginning black screen till the evening! What an experience. This is the very heart of our globe-spanning community. Hooray for Mark!

Cheers to all out there at AdventureX...Will the livestream be available later somewhere for non-live viewing?

I sooooooooo want to see it! As well as what else you guys also get up to...

Just got back home, had a blast! Big thanks to Mods and Azure for organizing, can't wait for next year's edition! :)

Well done Mark and team on another great event. :-D Just a shame I could only be there for part of the Saturday.

Oh damn, that sucks! Any specific reason?

Stupot

Day 1 doesn't seem to be on Twitch. Is that right or am I just not looking properly? I've caught up with most of the talks and panels but still have few more I want to watch. All in all some good stuff. My highlight so far was Ian Thomas. Fascinating stuff.

I thought twitch was only live feeds. Are there recordings online? Please share :)

I have just landed in New York. It was a great time and I am already looking forward to next year!

Twitch didn't record the first day, but day 2 is archived at twitch.tv/AdventureXpo

Mandle

Cheers! I will check out the links during the winter holidays soon!

cat

The eagle err... cat has landed. I'm finally on the train back home. AdventureX was awesome, but I have to work on my travel planning :P

m0ds

It went down well in a strange sort of way...

is a lyric from an old ags opera LGM song! AdventureX however, went down very well. I'm grateful for everyone who turned up, making the journey, some fending off illness and others driving from far away countries just to be there... There's a lot to be grateful for and rather than try and list all of that, hope it was reflected in the event itself :) We had about 90 people on Sat and 60 on Sun so good figures for a new, slightly out the way venue. That means perhaps 90-100 individuals. Great! Glad Sunday stream got archived and very sorry the same didn't happen for Saturday but there are definitely a number of vids by Adventure Treff on the cards of Saturday items.

I didn't get time to play many games this year so I didn't get much time to speak to as many people as I'd have liked to (and pretty tired at night/pub after many long days) nor could bring much stuff or setup a table myself but very thankful for your support whether you came, watched on net or are Rebecca, Tom and Drew... thank you! It's also great that community members supplied some great content for the event over 2 days, Francisco, Dave, Ali*, Stefano, Rem, Broomie to name a few... thanks!

Did have a good chat with a good few people though definitely, nice to catch up with the ags crew, nice to meet new people including adventure corner dude and additional adventure treff fellas, and so many others. Having a lazy couple of days playing some game I managed to get hold of but should have an update to the website and reflect our charity total and donation by end of the week. Do appreciate that people bought raffle tickets and made online donations, or exhibitor donations. Although a little will go back into what was spent on prizes its still a high figure raised near £200 which would beat previous years. I'd like to put in a bit myself on top to be sure of that fact but don't have my payday figures yet. Anyhoo watch this space I will post that news here.

Thanks again for attending, supporting, your kind comments, spreading the word and the love for adventure games and AdventureX! Glad to hear here and elsewhere that people got back safe and sound (cat!), and that a few "lost" items turned up in pockets! Hope those of you who stayed on longer than I did or left later on Monday had a nice day/rest of time in London. Maybe we can do it all again next year... :=

* Arrived home to my Nelly Cootalot gifts, thanks man!

Dave Gilbert

Back home and back at it. This was probably the best year yet. As I said often during the weekend, the one room setup was PERFECT for an event like this. The event was a lot more focused, everyone had the same experience and nobody felt like they were missing anything. Wonderful talks by all. I am very much looking forward to next year!

Azure

Thanks everyone for coming, Mark for listening to Tom & Myself's constant suggestions (laugh), Tom for venue wrangling, Drew's stream mastery and tech and everyone who exhibited, attended and gave Latency feedback. Now that Tom can potentially organise the venue for us, I hope we'll be able to organise with much notice.
Bit sad I didn't get as much time to catch up with some folks this year, but hopefully will do next year.8-)

After checking a lot of material, I'm happy to say that we will be able to cover the Saturday up to the panel, so we have most of the day on video and audio. It will take some weeks with christmas and new year ahead to cover everything, but sooner or later we will be able to provide all the stuff in good or less good quality.

For now, two interviews:

Stupot

@neon
When you say 'up to the panel' is that including the panel? Coz that's the one thing left that I missed which I still want to see.

neon

Yes, including the first panel with Francisco Gonzalez, Alex Francois,Alisdair Beckett-King, Jan Kavan and Ian Thomas.

Hopalong

The Alisdair Beckett-King interview is pretty funny. Definitely worth watching.

Azure

Good job Adventure Treff catching up on stuff I missed.
www.voiceacting.space - Casting Calls for voice actors

Thanks, we're trying to release as soon as possible, but first we do the interviews because they are also needed for e.g. upcoming kickstarter campaigns.

Here are two more with Daniel Black (The Last Time) and CBE (Someday you'll return)

Thanks to Tom, Rebecca and Mark. This year's AdventureX was excellent. The venue was great, and the focused one-room setup worked brilliantly. Thanks to the Adventure Treff team too!

(Glad you liked your rewards, Mark!)

You can always check our playlist, we will release more videos soon as I had a chance to give the video material to Basti while I was in Munich during the last days, so we don't have the bandwidth problem anymore.

Thanks a lot for all your work on the videos guys - it's great for memories, not to mention help for publicising the event next year!

Happy New Year all! Was a pleasure to have you all at Goldsmiths, and I'm looking forward to it next year already!

Thanks neon! Appreciate all the vids you've produced, still got a few more of them to watch myself but found them all very enjoyable so far (well done peeps) :)

In other AdvX news, I'll be making our charity donation at the end of the month and will update the website a little at that point too (put this one behind a 2015 tag but also hope to showcase some of the videos on the front page etc). As Tom (Synapse) hints, unless the uni do a u-turn on event policies midpoint through the year, it'll likely all be same place next year, maybe a weekend or two earlier though. So that means it can be booked and people can book their stuff earlier ;) we'll let you know!

I realize it's just a tweet, but if you want to drop by twitter and poll your favorite date option for this year, we are happy to gather your votes as we're getting things organized earlier this time ;) Thanks!

The next step will be confirmed date, a shiny new website & thread here...and more! (watch this space) :)
