Apparently Ron Gilbert and Tim Schafer´s Double Fine are working on a new game, you can check it out here: http://grumpygamer.com/6386281
And for what Ron says in his comments, this IS an Adventure Game and not a puzzle platformer.
What do you think?
It´s not Point n' click, that's for sure.

I've never seen a game that isn't a puzzle platformer look so much like a puzzle platformer.  But we shall see...

Stupot

Looks pretty awesome, even if it doesn't quite match everybody's definition of 'adventure'.

Doesn't look adventure-y in the slightest, but it DOES look awesome!

selmiak

looks a lot like trine. Which is not a bad thing but also not the adventure game I was expecting...

Ali

Am I right in thinking this is not the Kickstarter project?

Jared

Yeah, this is what Ron Gilbert had signed on to do with Double Fine before the Kickstarter idea was tabled. They need to make that a little clearer to people..

The Kickstarter is in the very early design phase. It's funny because other Kickstarters are now getting flak for not having enough of a fleshed out concept. Tim Schafer literally did not have a single word written down about what the game would be...

And ironically, by posting prototypes, the Space Venture Kickstarter is receiving flak and some removed pledges from people thinking the final product will require to be played in a browser or Chrome, or people thinking the game's not polished enough, forgetting it's a damn prototype.

Looks lovely. I'm waiting to see if it's as traditional an adventure game as they say but I love puzzle platformers so a puzzle platformer with extra emphasis on the puzzle and said puzzles being designed by Ron Gilbert holds awesome potential for me.

Indeed. And I don't know what he's fighting with such statements.
I mean Double fine is fighting making adventure games in general, part of it is mixing generes and new gameplay, which is fine with me, but when they tried to make an adventure game, they got a ton of support...it's really weird.
I don't want the world, I just want your half

I does look an awful lot like "Ron Gilbert does Trine"--which, don't get me wrong, is an AWESOME concept--so I'm not sure why he's trying to trick people into thinking it's not a puzzle platformer...

Ugh. Why the hideous overblown run cycles?
I'm not too impressed by the trailer. Thank goodness this isn't the kickstarter project.

What about this? I think I will play it when it comes out... maybe is console targeted but hope in a PC release.
Any of you know when it will be out? It looks like a Monkey Island platform with nice 2D-3D mix :)

Cyrus

There's no definite release date, but it seems to be early 2013. Have you seen the official website: http://thecavegame.com/?

I like graphic artwork in this game. I don't know why gamers nowadays (maybe the younger ones and shitty consoles) want 3D... it looks so crappy
The funny thing is that one of the first LucasArts job ever, "Rescue on Fractalus" was 3D too :)

Gabarts

Well, I think this game will be a real adventure, it looks like a platform but the graphic sceneries and other things have a lot of "Monkey Island" touch. Remember "Little big adventure"? That was good... :)

It looks like a pretty generic DoubleFine-art-style game to me, to be honest.  I see nothing there to convince me to buy it.

I mean seriously, it LOOKS boring.

I was disappointed with the tedium in Deathspank. I nearly fell asleep in my quest to finish it; I don't mean this in a figurative sense - towards the latter stages of the game my eyes were literally drooping shut because I had to fight my way through more and more bland enemies.

It pleases me to see Gilbert returning to puzzle based gameplay, and it also pleases me to see it done in the Double Fine style which I find much easier to read than the style used in Deathspank. I'm a little saddened by the fact that the characters themselves won't speak, but interested in the idea of having the setting itself be a character.

Hard to know what to think about this until one can actually play a demo. I enjoy stuff like Rochard and LostWinds, so I think this style of game has plenty of potential, but it's not like they've given a comprehensive outline of the game.
