It is pretty cool but I personally am quite dissapointed. I'm not gonna have a PS3 in a long time and I wouldn't want to make games for it anyway. Ah, I'll just stick with the old version.

Although I am quite interested in hearing how the adventure games would work on a PS3? Would it still be point and click and how would that be implemented?

This truly is a changing day in AGS' life.

Miez

Meh. I want AGS for Sega Megadrive. ;D

Peder 🚀

AGS for Sega Megadrive?? sounds awesome!
Why not have it for Sega Master System to?

That would be great! :P.

Nacho

I don' t agree at all. Consoles are for wanker teenages with acné, and AGS has never been that.

Well... It wasn' t.  :-\

hihihihi.
Are you guys ready? Let' s roll!

woodz

I guess we'll just have to form a splinter group and take the old AGS underground, Flood the market with classic AGS just to pee Sony off  ;)

If you build in a small exploit, this will be the selling point for the PS3, let me tell you. It's what's keeping the PSP alive. Nice one Justine Kiding! ::)

But why stop there? Look at ScummVM, it's everywhere. We need total domination over every gaming platform!

Can't wait to play 2010: World of Chaos and A Nigga's Revenge on the big HD screen. Am buying a PS3 tomorrow, that's for sure.

m0ds

Right, I just bought a PS3 for this, so you better not be pulling my leg, CJ! Otherwise you owe me £424! ;)

I totally disagree. I was a teenager with acne when I started using AGS, like most people here.

Heh, that was actually pretty funny...    ::)

I still am, except for the being a teenager and having acne parts.

This great news CJ. Congratulations. I have couple of questions:

- With dev kits, Are we going to be able to test our games without any problem in Windows XP SP3 and Wista ?

- Can AGS fans continue to develop AGS 2.72 ? I don't want AGS PC version to die :(

- This is not 1st April joke right ?  :)

Yarr.
Finally something on the way to the world domination. Sweet.

I still get the sneaking suspicion that this is an April Fools joke. Justine Kiding is extremely close...to Just Kidding.
On the other hand, maybe you're serious and just changed peoples names and timed this...
The fediverse needs great indie game developers! Find me there!

Steel Drummer

I think he's serious. I was browsing around the Sony website and saw an article that referenced this.
I'm composing the music for this game:

I'm pretty sure it's an April fools joke and if it's not, ill be disappointed. I'm not buying a ps3 and want to get updates for ags and I'm sure sometime later today he's going to say April fools.

Ishmael

I have a way better place to spend my non-existing 700-or-so euros.

Who needs the new version anyway? 2.72 is powerful enough for the PC as it is, won't take long after it's full drop from support to some underground operative to write a neat little proggy to add hardware acceleration runtime, and AGS for the PC will live, no matter CJ does with his provisions.
I used to make games but then I took an IRC in the knee.

<Calin> Ishmael looks awesome all the time

Have you not seen the official sony press release? It was on the uk news (BBC) this morning, regard as pretty big news for us brits!

Pumaman

Hehe, it's well past mid-day now so it's about time that I confirmed that yes, this is indeed teh April Fool. Don't worry, I have no plans to sell out and stop making AGS for Windows ;)

Thanks to everyone who played along, and no thanks to the couple of people that tried to spoil it by posting "April Fools" ... your cards are marked  :=
