I have two ideas:

1. (was mentioned in the previous post called "Review, reviews, reviews...". Change "AGS Panel review..." to "Member of AGS panel...". Otherwise is misleading
2. When no one cares about that AGS Panel rating, why don't you remove it?

1. Explained in previous post. If the panel member's rating or comments are questioned (by another panel member or anyone else), the panel discusses it and comes to a decision, thus making it the opinion of the panel.

2. 68 percent of respondents to the poll use the rating somewhat.

As mentioned, the reloaded review was also just by 1 person, yet we still all call it a "reloaded review" and not "review of a member of the reloaded team". I donÂ´t think IÂ´ve ever seen a printed review of a game by multiple people who were part of a group.

MOST reviews ARE done by single people, and are representative of the thing they reviewed it for. A review in PC Gamer would be called a "PC Gamer Review", and not "A review from a member of PC Gamer", yet it will not be the entire PC Gamer crew that reviewed that game, just one person.

You know, I kinda ignored all the harassment put against you, because, hey, I guess you have an opinion, and everyone does. But it is kinda funny how you bring it on yourself. That previous thread could have easily been "Hey look, guys, IÂ´ve been featured in reloaded!", and most people (if they werenÂ´t nasty, and didnÂ´t let the past factor into their opinions) would have been happy for you.

Just like that thread you made before about the google thing.

I donÂ´t know if your games are "bad". A lot of people seem to like them. Not me, personally, but hey, there are a lot of very popular games (like yours) made using AGS that I donÂ´t like.

But you really turn people against you somehow. It must be a gift

This is absurd,

Have you actually considered the possibility that your game might not be that good?

I've been writing music and playing in bands for years and sometimes the fact of the matter is not that the reviewer is full of shit or that they just dont "get your work".

The fact is you might have made something that people just dont like.

We released one record which received one particularly apathetic review but we didnt go round burning the magazine and withdrawing the record or writing letters to the editor, which is essentially what youre doing.

We just made a better record.

So, any ideas about AGS Panel change? I know there are other complaing from other people previously. I know that this subject is very picky for you.

Did you lock the previous thread for 10 min also?

And why are you "defending" your game, Harg? Does it need defending? Is it a bad game?

The popularity of your game speaks for itself. I wouldnÂ´t know, but IÂ´m sure it has many many downloads. YouÂ´ve been reviewed a number of times.
EVEN many people in AGS enjoy it.

Do you think your game is so awesome that for someone to dislike it would be impossible? Because there will always be SOMEONE who doesnÂ´t like it. I donÂ´t remember exactly, but you even got long detailed posts in the games thread as to why some people didnÂ´t like it.

But why does that matter to you?
The best you can do is move on and improve your stuff. I think you did this.
The worst you can do is bicker about how the person who didnÂ´t like what you did is wrong. I think you did this too.

Is your ego so hurt by the Panel score (or is it the review?). As Vince pointed out, most people donÂ´t factor that stuff into their games. It is mostly there for classification and categorisation. There are a lot of popular games that didnÂ´t get a high score. Perhaps the AGS Panel factors things such as spelling and typos and "exits hard to find", more than reloaded does.

Harg, explain to me why is Frodo (which I really like so, no pun or anything intended) is better than the AGS panel. And how one person review is good, when you say that it's not if its done by the panel! And why do you even start a topic in which you say the panel sucks when you give a review of CQ I, that actually got three cups and it's not your problem!

You keep popping saying "HEY CQ III IS TEH AWSOME GAME OF TAHA LIFE BIATCHES! AGS PNL FOR LOSARRAAS!11!!"

What do you expect us to do ? Say "Thanks"?
Or agree with you? Why do you wonder why I said that you and Goldfish deserve the penis award, when in the skype conference, everyone was laughing when you got nominated?

But seriously, Harg,your strategy works. I would really like to play your next game NOW! I'd probably give away one of my toes just for a single screenshot. My advice to you, crank up the stuck up asshole factor even more and it will only make your games more popular. After all, it's too late to shake this bad image off and everyone will take your new project apart to find faults. It will be like watching Britney Spears live on X Factor and waiting for her to slip ( she didn't unfortunately; it was all lip-sync...). I can't wait, to be honest, but not in a nasty way. I think an idea of a game developer who is generally totally hated ( well, except for those PMs you get all the time) creating an ass-kicking game that will leave members of this community with their jaws on the floor, is extremely exciting and could be something that has never happened before!:) fair enough, you might need a miracle to achieve that... but I do believe in miracles.

Right now, I am seriously considering taking on a Harg-like alterego on these forums and making a little game that will be put ina similiar spotlight.... Of course, none of you would know it's me.... Or damn, I think I prpbably blew it..

Just so you know, next time there's another guy who raises so much controversy, it might just be me....

Harg, I think it's time to give it a rest.

There have been situations were I disagreed with the AGS panel and other times were I agreed with them. As with every other reviewing site out there. Opinions are always going to differ, and you cannot forbid people to have them or enforce your own point of view.

I'm sure many people played and enjoyed your games. And those that didn't... well, it's their own loss, isn't it? Making a big fuzz about the rating just gives you and your games a bad image that they probably don't deserve.

Look at the evaluation of Andail's survery http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=40679.0 how many people use the AGS panel review as criterium for choosing the games they play. Is it really worth it?
