What do you think of the game? Got it working with ScummVM. Really fine game. Played at my friends when I was a kid and have tried to find it ever since.

Well now I got it. And it still rules! The graphics are sooo sweet and the whole game is funny.

General discussion about the STS1 and STS2. And if you have tested the STS3D please, leave comments about it too.

ThunderStorm

Yeah, I loved the Simon games too. In fact, they have left a noticeable impression in my profile.  :)
I loved the nice animations throughout the games, perhaps they made me go on playing even more than the storyline.

rorschach

Simon 1&2 are sweet.

Simon3D is a big pile of crap!
Boring puzzels, the graphics is just bad, millions of bugs... etc. etc.

Captain Mostly

I loved the first one. But I've never found the second one in even the most comprehensive second hand game shops... bah!

You. Me. Denny's.

Simon annoyed me because he walked so damn slowly all the time, I got fed up and quit after not very long. I'm sure it was a good game though ;)

MadReizka

Have you played STS1? It walked even slower in that than STS2.

Las Naranjas

I got the CD version, and he magically started walking faster.

And i really enjoyed it, even if you could term it an MI clone.

2 was fun, but didn't have the charm.

And I uninstalled 3d after the first puzzle.

Both Simon 1 and 2 had that special 'X' factor that gets me hooked on said game and renders me unable to put them down. All Lucasarts games had this 'X' factor, as did the Discworld games (although the 2nd was a little iffy)... so that can only be a good thing...

Las Naranjas

And then Adventuresoft made the Feeble Files which is painful.

Man, the hush puppies puzzle is made to look mundane compared to some of that rubbish.

Simon 1 and 2 were pretty cool. Very nice graphics. The animations were a bit akward though. And the puzzles were sort of iffy sometimes. But them Simons is classics!!

Really? I liked the second one best. First one was good too, but puzzles were so obnoxious that i had to use walkthrough all the time.

Get teh CD version ;)
He walks as fast as Guybrush in the CD version :D
Veteran, writer... with loads of unreleased games. Work in progress.

No, no, I have never liked StS... *hides Simon costume and numerous memorabilia* Okay, I so lie alot. STS rocked! In the dark and distant past, when I was 6, it was all I played ;) and I completed the first one, too, even though most of the jokes went over my head. StS2 was weird, though. It was harder, for one. And Simon didn't look quite right. He certainy got more unlikable, but still not as bad as Simon3D.

Simon 3D, was in my opinion, the WORST adventure game I've ever seen! I mean, I could create better 3D graphics, and I've over ever made one thing! It looks like they ripped Grim Fandango and made it worse. And this costume is AWFUL. It doesn't even look like a cloak.

In closing, I'd like to say something.

Point and Click = Dead.
AGS = Not Dead.
Simon3D = Dead unless....
Headfirst*, AGS. AGS, Headfirst. Happy?

*The creator of the simon games, I think :)

If and when Simon3D comes on budget release, buy it. The graphics are awful, but the same old Simon humour and puzzles are still there...

deltamatrix

SImon3D spelled trouble. It was disappointed after a long wait and I ended up having to get a walkthorugh because I wasn't sure whether my being stuck was a bug or just me. IT WAS A BUG!

Simon1 was the first talkie adventure I ever played so no longer I got hooked. I played the demo with my family and we loved the woodworms bit.

Simon2 was very good because of the sarcasm and homour. Simon1 had less humour and it didn't seem to suit Chris Barrie in this case despite that it does in Red Dwarf.

Simon3D was destroyed before it was released.

Don't diss Feeble Files! I enjoyed that. :) And Discworld 2 was a very good game with the homour and good Eric Idle voice acting :)
Discworld 1 failed me for some reason.

Shame most of these games won't work on XP.

I thought each Simon game got a little better than the previous one. Who knows, if they continue like this they might eventually be able to measure up to Discworld 1.  ::) (Which is one of my favourites. I was pretty let down by DW2, but the developers managed IMO to make another good game with DW: Noir.) I think that what you think about these games much depends on your kind of humour. I find the MI games somewhat overrated too. Decent games that gave a few laughs, but they don't make it to my top ten list (which currently contains 15 games).
