Punchy

I have the CD version of Simon1, and he still walks damned slow. Crazy.

Simon 2 wasn't as good. He was just so unlikeable. Occasionally I didn't really want to insult people, but even if you click on the 'nice' options he twists it around and insults the person again. Funny for a while, but still unlikeable.

Simon3D hasn't been released in Australia. Where'd you get a copy Las? I'll have to find your house and steal it...

Las Naranjas

Taking inspiration from the game series Simon's creators drew inspiration from, I, uh, turned to piracy.

Which I justified by the fact I couldn't buy it legitimately.  I traded with Esseb.

SimSaw

I found StS 1 & 2  very good! I planned to make a film out of all 3 games, but I noticed that I don't have the time (school) nor the equipment (camera, good capture program...) to do that. Maybe some day I will be able to do that. If you want to help me then email me: SimSaw@web.de

StS 3D wasn't as good than 1 & 2 with the grafic. But I think the history of the game is quite OK, but it wasn't so good as I thought. What I hate most: The game end in the same way than the second game: To be continued. Simon is now in this strange world and has drunk in this games only a cup of coffee some soda bottles and only eaten a fruit. If Simon had come and mysteriously came back it would be better. I hope the next game will have a good end but it shouldn't be the last one.

n3tgraph

I have the original cd version of simon2 with talkie :)

really really lovely game!!!!
I never played simon 1 though  :-[
I can't find it anywhere

But I love simon

StS 1 and 2 were both great but I found StS 1 a bit boring because you spent a long time walking around trying to find places on the map. The pirate ship on simon 2 however was great.

Started playing StS3D few weeks ago.

You're wrong! He ate a mushroom too :P

Captain Mostly

I recently played Simon the Sorcerer 2 (having played the first one AGES ago). It's ok, but nothing like as funny as I remember the first one being. :(

Also, the story isn't up to much.

BUT the role-players are hilarious, and there are some really good jokes. It's just a shame that I am now playing Broken Sword 2 which makes the lazy plotting and cheap would-be-monty-python humour (let alone unforgivable "quoting" jokes) look all the worse. It's a stone cold shame.

ALSO Simon the Sorcerer 2 is one of the best examples of how NOT to execute post-modern "This is MEANT to be a family game! We'll never get a sequil now!" style comedy.

I'm sure the first one had these failings too, but I don't remember them.

Anyway, I still likethe game and stuff, it's just really not good enough to be a pofessional offering. Nor is it obviously amateur enough to be forgiven for it's failings

Ah yes, the 'fourth wall'. It was CRIMINALLY overused in StS2 I seem to remember, and mixed with the often puerile humour, the comedy of the game is pretty patchy. Good story and puzzles though.

I'm pretty sure that the original StS actually didn't have anything like as much of that kind of humour. It was slimmer on humour to begin with, and what there was of it was better. But StS1 had bad puzzle structure comparatively, so both games have their flaws.

Eggie

The two-headed shop-keeper part...

...wonderful...

And not a single joke about being trapped in a game.

*sigh*

viktor

I liked the part when he kisses repunsel beter.
Or the time he has that frog thing ( I can't remember the word)for hostige.
Or...
I'd better stop or you'll never hear the end of it.

STS1 is funny. I haven't played STS2 yet. Is it good?

Las Naranjas

It's still entertaining and playable, but not quite as fun as the original. The RPGers make up for it though.

Simon 3d sucks.

Heh, I havnt played any of the Simon games, or the Discworld games... I was mostly a Sierra guy growing up, and then Lucasarts, with MM and DoTT.

I should play them one day.

Eggie

The Simon games have great huimour. It's a shame that the actual gameplay doesn't really measure up.

Azure

Simon one is my favourite adventures  I played it on the Amiga Cd32 ( to show you how long that was ^^). I loved it to bits although  I was kinda put off by the changing of the voice actor from the guy who played Rimmer in red dwarf.

Simon annoyed me because he walked so damn slowly all the time, I got fed up and quit after not very long. I'm sure it was a good game though ;)

Ditto. I still have it on my computer, but every time I try to play, the fact that it's so stupidly slow drives me batty.

Las Naranjas

the version I downloaded had the same problem, but the cd version I got didn't.

I think that just means I'm more awesome than pete.

Well I thought STS2 was the best. I liked his sarcasm and humour.

STS1 had hardly any sarcasm.

Simon3D had cool sarcasm but that was the only good thing it DID have. >:(

I like sarcasm. ;D

I actually finally got a copy of StS3D off Esseb last year.

Oh dear.

I can't believe how truly awful it is. Sure, it was meant to be released a lot earlier than it was, but the graphics were shocking. I don't mind bad graphics in general, but when the character's hands are inverted in a pre-scripted opening cinematic there's something dreadfully wrong. And you can't skip the opening movie. I clicked on 'watch intro' in the menu, assuming it was there because they weren't going to show it to me in-game, and when I started the game the whole boring thing played all over again, with no way to skip. I ended up leaving the room and doing something else while it played itself out.

I got out of the monastery and then had to reformat my computer (for other reasons) and never re-installed the game. Maybe I'll go back to it eventually. One day.
