Excellent demo indeed.

Well drawn background and characters, top quality music and well put together (for a demo it's top)

Keep up the great work people :)

Kweepa

Backgrounds look beautiful!

I hit a couple of problems with the interface - at one point I had an arrow instead of the cross cursor. I'll try to repro that. Also, seems odd that you have to press F3 to get to the inventory. 7DAS did this much more smoothly. I'm not suggesting you do it that way necessarily...

I really don't understand the walk speed. Doesn't it annoy you when you test the game? When developing I like to speed the character up as much as possible until I'm ready to beta test, then I scale the speed back.

Having read the other replies it's clear I missed a lot of this demo. Time to play again!

Darth and guys you are awesome.
This game of yours feels like it's done by a proffesionals.

Just one thing to make the final game PERFECT.Nataly side view just improove it somehow(the front view is PERFECT), we know that you are able to do it. And GUI 10 out of 10.

keep great work up

Thanks for the other kind words!

hey :)

Your game looks excellent! I love your bgs and that darn car is so amazing.

One thing (might be only me) the main female character looks a bit amateurish to the rest of game (gui interface and bgs). If you could possibly ... maybe .... improve her... it would be the sweetest game ever :)

Thank you people, for all your praise. I know we deserve it, but it's still nice to hear. :)

Anyway:
Quote from: SSHbtw, you used a slightly old version of 2.71 to make this, didn't you? The game doesn't quit properly for me, but CJ seems to have fixed this in the latest RC...
Actually, it's 2.7. We've already upgraded from 2.62 since the very start of the game (just after the ATC), and I can't honestly see us moving to 2.71 unless there're some vitally important features added. Or, of course, unless this becomes a major bug - what exactly happens?

Please do. Can you remember anything about where/when it happened off-hand?

QuoteAlso, seems odd that you have to press F3 to get to the inventory. 7DAS did this much more smoothly.
Actually, it's 'Tab' for the full inventory. What do you mean about 7DaS - that you'd like to be able to look at items by right-clicking in the mini-inventory (the one that pops up with the verbcoin)?

QuoteWhen developing I like to speed the character up as much as possible
I can't speak for the rest of the team, but I did tend to test it with the gamespeed turned right up - mostly when I was playing the through the same damn interaction it for the 5th time in as many minutes!
I know what you're thinking ... Don't think that.

Some people seem to have had AGS games not quitting properly: when closed in ANY way, the window disappears but there is still a task on the taskbar, and it requires killing in the task manager to get rid of it. I think it was an Allegro bug. I haven't had this problem happen again with the latest 2.71RC3

OK, I've heard about that but never had it happen (with any game, and don't seem to get it with this one). I thought it was mostly games made with the earlier 2.71 releases?

Is anyone else having this problem with the demo?

Very promising! Gorgeous backgrounds, very impressive.
This makes ATC sort of worth all the hassle :)

Am I the only person who can't download the demo, keep getting a blank screen everytime I visit the homepage :(

Yes, me...And with other games too (Prodigal, The Winter Rose, etc.)...But, is not a big problem at all...

Tried it, loved it.
BG graphics is superb (and a bit more!), though I don't like character art and animations at all:(

Trying not to be harsh - characters, drawn in Darth's way, have nice detail and colors, but the expression on face somwhat disturbs me. Like they were overdepressed or mentally insane giving this "whatever, shoot me with that gun" face.

Music is another very special part, I hope whole soundtrack follows this nondisturbing and deep style.

Since it's a demo, bugginess doesn't count much.

But the GUI is a bit uncomfortable, The menu could open with a single left click and give options, it would be much easier this way. Just like it was in The Hamlet.

looks nice.Ã,  ;) good job on the backgrounds. although, it looks a bit dead, but i dont know if thats what ure going for. I'm just saying that cause I'm playing flight of the amazon queen at the moment, and love the way they play around with colours to liven things up. so, if you really want to show that people here can make pro games, like you said you wanted to show, maybe study some of the pro games' bgs a bit more. but, great job so far.
the task bar shouldn't appear when you click right mouse button on open space and not hotspot.

It happens if you select one of the GUI options with the right mouse button.

...produce something at a proffessional standard. Also, to prove that adventure games DO NOT cost big money to make, if four guys can make one in their spare time..
i aggree that apprentice has already proven this.
but if you look at a game like flight of the amazon queen, it was basically made by 2 people.
one guy co-designed, and wrote the whole engine (which none if you are actually doing, since ure using ags), while the other guy co-designed, did ALL the graphics and the animation, and even helped with some scripting and sound. and the game is really big.
and awesome. but ure game looks great so far, keep up the good work. i dont hope you guys take this the wrong way, im not trying to be rude, just pointing out some facts.

creator of Duty and Beyond

Sam.

no offence taken at all.

Thanks for your opinions, and I agree, apprentice was one of the best games made in AGS, and we hope to achive something similar to this (not in style, but quality).

FOTAQ was a great game (and I thought the team was 4 people, what we have) but it lacked something in my opinion, it lacked the heart of an adventure game, i didn't really care whether or not i finished it.

With AOK, we hope to re-create the magic of old games, but also add to the genre, this isn't just a re-hash of old stuff, we have written a whole new interface, from scratch, we wrote a plot, from scratch, and all of the graphics are done by one person, from scratch.

Hopefully we will be able to produce something you all will love!

if you do have any development specific questions, feel free to contact me (or any of the team) directly using the telegram system on www.amuletofkings.com

Bye bye thankyou I love you.

I'm glad you didnt take it the wrong way.Ã,  :) I'm really looking forward to ure game, and cant wait to play.

yeah, 2 people worked on the game for a year and a half, then signed with warner, and got some help, like one guy converted the game to pc.

but the graphics, animation programming and design of the game was all done by the original 2 members (john and steve), as far as i know.
of course, they got help with voice acting, and quality assurance and stuff like that.Ã,  :)
