Armageddon

Your choice of 3D modeling program is melting my eyes. :P

Jaffles

Great stuff guys! Ponch, I'm glad to see you're making a foray into the great white north again!

Anyway, here's my contribution, some concept art for Reon Quest Episode 3

When chaos threatens to plunge the world into darkness... only one reptile can save the day...

Pinback

Here's a short proof of concept I worked on last year for a Horror dungeon crawl. I really wanted to see if I could make an Elvira/Eye of the Beholder type engine within AGS. I was happy with the test results but felt that the graphic assets would be a drag to make en masse for full production.

Features

*Two rooms in 3D!!!
*Music and sound effects
*Combat/XP Levelling system
*Infinitely respawning demon that looks like an onion
*Healing potions
*Compass
*Working "quit" button
*Room object

Controls are pretty simple. Click the arrows buttons to move. Left click enemy to attack. Right click potions to use.

Here's my follow up to Resonance in its current form:

It's not a direct sequel or a spin off.  It's set 30 years after the events of Resonance.  The ramifications of the first game are felt and some familiar characters and locations may be making appearances, but the story stands on its own.

That's all you really needed to say.  (nod)

I'm wondering what kind of things you write on these notes. I've been looking at making a large project and want a nice way to organize it visually.

I'd love to see you start a GenGen thread on how you organize your project. I'm really curious, especially since you've actually finished a large scale project, it obviously works well for you.

So many inspiring entries! But there are still not enough romantic horse sims...

m0ds

Wait, that man is going to have relations with a horse??!

Since everyone is posting something. Here is some low-res shit of mine. And when I say shit, I really mean it as I can't draw well  (wrong).

He is meant to be the main character for my first game which I had planned to release at the end of June. But now I'll release it after OROW. So, this game will become my 2nd  :=

EDIT: BTW Amelie, your art is very nice.

More action...

Play the alpha right in your browser on our website! (You will need to download the free and small unity player plug-in.)

Hit F10 at any point in time to check out the options menu, under controls you can find and rebind the controls! And don't worry, in this alpha build you are currently invincible. But your enemies are not!

This is a space action game in the vein of Wing Commander and X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter that I've been working on and have been for quite some time. It's made with the Unity Engine and will be available on PC, Mac and Linux computers. Consoles are also possible assuming we get enough funding. Kickstarter is an option in the future! It's being developed by two people at the core and then we have a third guy working on the music!

Let me know what you people think and how you liked the playable alpha!

Armageddon

That is the most amazing Unity game I have ever played and the pixel shader is brilliant and the windshield refraction, oh my! 8-0

Very impressive. I've been trying to make a deresolution shader in  Unity forever, how do you do it?

kconan

Most stunning cockpit I've ever seen in a space game.

Also, I love Pinback's dungeon crawl GUI.

Jaffles

DoorKnobHandle that game is incredibly impressive! Nice job!

Thank you for the comments everybody! :)

Armageddon, we are simply using a scene buffer (ie. a render texture) at 640x400 resolution. Then you can scale that up to whatever the game is actually running at with nearest neighbor as opposed to bi-/linear filtering and voila!

Retro Wolf

@Adeel. I think that little guy looks cool!

It's so great to see so many different styles in one thread -- from Shane's EGA surfing game to Katschey's mind-blowing "doodles" :) Each of these is fun in its own way, and each brings back a memory of one game or another.

DoorKnobHandle: I've never really gotten into spaceflight simulations, somehow, but this looks just gorgeous, too good to pass up.

Adeel: How's the work on those going? Any new anims that I haven't seen yet?

Amelie: Romantic horse sims is another genre I've never had a chance to play. I'm intrigued?

And here's a little conceptual graphic I cranked out just now, based on a sketch that's been lying around gathering dust since February or so:

This is how I picture the main character of a yet untitled project. In my head I call it "Wimpire" -- an amalgam of "wimp" and "vampire" -- but that's not going to be the title. I want it to be something that google hasn't heard of yet -- because every time I search for "gray" and "fitz", I get a zillion entries for Graham Fitzgerald. And "wimpire" seems to be the term for Twilight-esque fangers -- who are in abundance these days.

Aaaanyway, I have just a few rough pencil sketches -- but this game's been on my mind for quite a while, probably more than two years. Initially, I pictured it lo-res, with graphics similar to Monkey Island 1 -- with my trademark 4 colors, and somewhat serious and dark in tone. Think Gothic novels. Then I got a different idea, something totally wacky -- strangely enough, inspired by actual (and recent) events -- and as I started doodling, with just a basic idea of what the character should look like (scary-goofy, basically), I came up with this. Hi-res and smooth shading seemed like a natural choice -- with the original four-color palette maintained. A lot of thinking will go into the background art style to keep it consistent -- both with other bg's as well as characters. Right now, though, I'm more focussed on inventing puzzles and weaving them into the game mechanics -- including two playable characters. It's going to be a more puzzle-driven game than Gray -- with lesssss dialogue, so that I could make it a full-talkie without losing my vocal cords in the process ;)

DKH, those gifs must be good. My browser keeps breaking :P

Seriously guys, there's some great stuff to look forward to judging by these posts.

Thank you, Oldschool_Wolf. He is the improved form of my pixel art (ever). I have planned to send him to RON world after the game's release. So you can play with him as much as you want. :)

Adeel: How's the work on those going? Any new anims that I haven't seen yet?

Thanks for the concern, Fitz. Sadly, no. There aren't new animations for you to look at. However I have drawn a background but left it in the middle to pursuit my OROW game. I'll finish it and complete my game A.S.A.P after my OROW game.

Your character looks great. The story have many elements to make it a good one. Looking forward to play and/or helping you in your game. One more thing, I wish to say:

Spoiler
It's good that you have decided to go for high-res this time. Since you have good art talent / skills, therefore the game will look great. I have played one game with high-res, i.e, Barely Floating and liked it very much.

@DoorKnobHandle:
Looking forward to download your game. Screenshots look great.

DoorKnobHandle

Thanks Stupot! The gifs are a bit on the heavy side but I hadn't heard from anybody in regards to their browser breaking down!

Adeel, you can play the game already right now, you just need to go to www.wingsofstnazaire.com and download the Unity web player plugin for your browser (it's linked on that page) and then you're good to go. If you don't like playing in your browser, a complete website overhaul is almost ready and when it rolls out, it will also feature old-fashioned download links so you can download the latest alpha build to your computer and play it from there, no problemo!

Considering my Internet Connection's speed: I think I will be happy with "old-fashioned download links". It would be great!

EDIT:   Maybe Stupot+ is using Internet Explorer :cheesy:.  Just saying.
