Almost released on schedule, I'm proud to present Barn Runner 5: The Forever Friday 2.

An abandoned mall? Let the looting begin!

This medium length game picks up one hour after the last chapter ended. The mass hysteria of the "Big Crazy" has begun tearing through the city and it's up to our hero, Prick Peckard, to stop it.

Reluctantly saddled with a partner (the very man who is trying to fire him), Prick must venture into the chaos, armed to the teeth and looking for the people responsible for plunging Arc 19: Evansville into an orgy of looting, cannibalism, and utter disrespect for littering laws.

Will Prick survive his mission? Will he find the people responsible? Will his city survive the madness that has claimed so many other cities before it? And how does Welsh crooner Sir Tom Jones factor into all of this? You'll only find out if you download!

Available from TackyWorld Interactive, where the quality of our freeware is matched only by the price!

Congratulations on getting part 2 finished!  I've been looking forward to this.

Thanks! I've put a lot of work into this one and I hope it provides a meatier gaming experience than part one did (which was saddled with the introduction / setup duties that made it a little too talky and a little too lean on gamplay).

And thanks for Liimey Lizard. Awesome theme and I hope the series has a long run!

Your games are GREAT!   I am downloading part 2 right now, and I can not wait to finish downloading this game and playing it.   Thanks for continuing to make awesome games.  Keep up the good work.   ;D ;D ;D

Just finished playing part 2.  Not sure about side quests.  This is the best one, yet!    Great job!
Awesome, awesome, awesome.  Now to wait for the third part of this great series.  Terrific job!

Ah shit, I was just playing the only game that I haven't finished from the series and I was wondering where was the 2nd promised part, then boom today Forever Friday goes on..
Worked on Strangeland, Primordia, Hob's Barrow, The Cat Lady, Mage's Initiation, Until I Have You, Downfall, Hunie Pop, and every game in the Wadjet Eye Games catalogue (porting)

I don't think this is considered a hint or tip, but I really need to know...

How the heck do I get back out of the hallway leading to Prick's office?  I walked there from the hall near the chief's office, and now I've clicked everywhere along the bottom of the screen, and he seems permanently stuck.  What's the dealio, yo?

Prick can't go back to the lobby outside the Chief's office because Harry is waiting for him there. He has to have both the guns from his (secret) office and the DataLink he left in the briefing room.

You'll revisit that hallway in chapter five, and there will be a little yellow bar on the ground that let's you know where to go to get back to the lobby. But for this chapter, he can't go back until he's ready. (He needs to make a good impression after all).

Hope that helps.

(And thanks for all the nice words guys. I'm glad to know you were waiting for this one!)

All right! I've been enjoying this series ever since I first discovered it a few months ago. I just finished playing this latest installment, and unsurprisingly, enjoyed it. I love the various robot cameos, and
Spoiler
the interrogation scene was especially hilarious.

Wonderful job!

You continue improving yourself in your games!

The introduction of this 5-2 is very good, and you get very well the provocative girl graphic in the non-political humor

Congratulations for your last game!

PD: I'm continuing figthing with the terrible nigth chickens in 5-1 U_U xDD

Well, I'm gonna give some love to take some. First of all concerning all the games they're fun to play. Second of all, they're my favorite. Third of all, they rock.

But, well, concerning the last game and mostly some of them, well they need ambient sounds and original music, which I'd really beg to do for the next chapter. If the game had the music I have in my mind, it would properly depict the noir sort of style and the 80's that this game's having. PM me if you're interested. Nevertheless, as you usual this one's top notch, and to think yesterday , I just finished playing Forever Friday part 1. Concerning the barn runner if you feel you have to get rid of the name, you can always call the game Forever Friday, but now that seems a bit little late.. 8)

Hope you don;t receive this the bad way..

I hope that's a reference to the dream sequence set to the Tom Jones song. I spent just over 100 hours animating that damn thing. I haven't done that much hand drawn animation in ages and it was a blast to do. I had such a blast doing it, that now I have even more ambitious sequences planned for future games in the Barn Runner series. Kudos to CJ for making an engine capable of creating more than just adventure games. It does cartoons too!

Yeah. I agree. I went with the "silent movie" approach at the start of the series for a variety of reasons. But once the Forever Friday and the 5th Anniversary game are behind me, I plan on making some big changes to the world of Barn Runner. I'm overhauling the character sprites, probably moving up to 800x600, and I might even start using sound f/x. As far as original music, let me think about the offer. The big love scene from part three of Forever Friday is eating up all my free time right now. When the schedule loosens up a bit, I'll pm you and we'll work something out.

Ha!  "Harry Sach"!  I didn't get that until I read your AGS panel review. :)

Just finished playing, went back to see all the endings, great job, man.  The drunk Crow robot was my favorite guy in the whole game.  Hey!

I also noticed, Harry apparently has man-boobs at that one ending.

Thanks for an awesome gaming experience again, I can't wait to see chapter 3!

Thanks! Someone who e-mailed me last month said I have a reverse James Bond thing going on when it comes to naming the guys in my games: Prick Peckard, Harry Sach, Gary Minge. It just amuses me, I guess.

If you look closely, all the MST3K robots have made appearances in the series by this point. That was one of my all time favorite shows, and I like to work it, Star Wars, and Doctor Who in whenever I can.

As far as Harry's chest goes, that was supposed to be big pecs as seen from 3/4 rear profile. But, as you noted in your review, the art tends towards more towards "doodle" than polished. Believe it or not, I used to make good money in commercial art before deciding to spend my middle age years cramming American History into the heads of uncaring students.

With exceptions only for very detailed technical shots (like the exterior shot of the hangar bays in the opening movie of Friday 1), all Barn Runner art is done free hand on yellow legal pads in my spare moments.

Case in point, here's something I drew during lunch a few days ago:

Sketch-tastic!

This is from the game I hope to have finished in time for a Christmas release. This is Debbie in her elf costume, in the middle of a shootout. The sprite will be imported directly from this doodle and, minor tweaks aside, this is how it will look in the game.

I just don't have time to sit down a refine it much, even though I wish I did. Still, I think the Barn Runner games have a pretty distinctive, cartoony visual style.

Thanks for playing (and the nice review) and I'll do my best to get chapter three out next year! And as regarding your review, indeed I do like to draw the ladies (half naked and otherwise). But, hey, I'm equal opportunity. I put the fellas in there too! There's something for everyone in Barn Runner!

Something for everybody?  Dear God, what about the midgets?

...not that I like midgets or anything.

Play_Pretend

And the giraffes!  With their long, beautiful, sensuous necks...eating those upper leaves like the dirty girls they are...hell, it should be a crime *not* to want them!

...

I keep National Geographic under my mattress.

This was wonderful. I thoroughly enjoyed playing chapters one and two and am looking forward to the next. Thanks for sharing this with us all. Fantastic job!

Thank you for playing! It would all be a big waste of my time if nobody played the games I made.

I'm hard at work on chapters three (almost done) and five (halfway done) as we speak. Chapter four has been done for a while now. After that, the Fifth Anniversary game will cap this part of the story off and I think I'll take a bit of a break.

ProgZmax and Strange Visitor, I retract my statement. I've put a lot of fan service bits in my games to amuse myself and my play testers, but I may have to draw the line at anything involving midgets and giraffes. The letterbox format I use just wouldn't get everything in frame, you know?

Finished. Wow. That was definetely fun. Apart from the fact that I got stuck at the pencil puzzle more than the rest of the game..
