You must the .cfg-file move out of the directory, patch it and move the .cfg-file back. This way it works.
The house is going to crush you.

Rui 'Trovatore' Pires

Which means, for future reference to anyone who wants to make a patch, that only the EXE file and any "GAMENAME.001" and such resource files, and maybe the readme, must be patched. Leave everything else alone, as it'll probably be the same anyway.

I'm really looking forward to play this when all the bugs are sorted out. How's the progress on the deluxe version?

Gord10

Actually I must confess that I'm currently working on another thing  :-[ (a little Half-Life 1 mod) I will continue on LitN Deluxe and oher AGS projects after I finish it.

I just downloaded the game and for some reason I can't install the patch.

Gord10

Guess you need the delete the acsetup.cfg file that was already installed.
Then try to install the patch again.

I hope it works.

I finished it and I have to say that the 18+ plus rating is unrealistic. I didn't see any nudity at all. It's a awesome game though.

Gord10

Thanks :)
Spoiler
I thought the hanged campers at the end of the game would cause problems if I didn't put that rating

Gord, I played your game and I would like to tell you my impression. ('cause I hope you appreciate feedback on these things)

First of all, great game, the story was quite out of the ordinary, the gameplay was easy and I managed to play it without even having a second thought about what to do next. Right then, three problems I saw in it, which, although they didn't downgrade the experience, they bugged me. And I tend to get bugged by the little things.

1. Spelling and grammar. I must say, and please don't get offended, that Lost in the Nightmare had the worst spelling and grammar I've ever seen in any game... I understand your first language isn't English, you're turkish, but you should've at least checked it with a proof reader or something... Nevertheless, I managed to ignore it and played it all the way to the end.
2. The end. What were those pictures about?! I mean, I stay on the rightous path for hours as I play and still, all you can give me are some photos of yourself?! Man, it's not like you're ugly or anything, it's just that I was expecting something else... maybe a small movie, or something...
3. Nudity. Where?! Where?! The spoiler campers? /spoiler I played it in 320x200, I guess that was my problem, 'cause I didn't see anything. I couldn't even make out where was the baby, let alone kill it!

Whatever, those were the lows, the highs were story, gameplay and 3d pre-rendered graphics. That's about it...

A deluxe version? Hmm... Let me look into this...

Dan N.

Ooh... hate to double post, but what exactly does the deluxe version bring us in comparison to the normal version, Gord? I didn't read anything 'bout that...

Gord10

Thanks...
Yeah, I can't say you aren't right about the negative points. Everyone can be sure that my next games will be completely beta-tested and proofread.

And the deluxe version... http://americangirlscouts.org/bbc.com/yabb/index.php?topic=23427.msg357441#msg357441 Guess you have missed this.

Ooh... commentary... no more spelling and grammar errors... more sound effects... I'm mesmorised...

Just a few questions though... Are you going to redo the entire game or just add some more stuff to the (already great) original? And will you take out those pictures of you from the end and make a proper ending? Please? That really ticked me off, to tell you the truth...
Also, I just remembered another thing that puzzles me about LitN: when to talked to the guy in the town (can't remember his name though), when he opened the door, you could see inside. There was a long corridor going to the left at the end and the wallpaper was creepy. Also, there were sounds of water, dripping like in a cavern and strange erie other sounds (I think)... At first I thought that the guy was evil or something, but it turns out he's your best friend. That was a bit odd, I must say. Care to explain?

Oh, and please consider this minor sugestion, how about you make the major choices in the game a little more tricky to decipher? I mean, killing a child, murdering your friend? A bit obvious...

Oh, and this might just be me, but the characters seemed a bit plasticky... detached... freaky sometimes when they spoke to each other. This might just be me, though...

I hope you don't take my critisism and sugestions the wrong way, Gord. Believe me, I did enjoy Lost in the Nightmare... wait a minute! There's a sequel!
*fingers tingle*
I'm even afraid to click the link.

PS: I give LitN a 9/10 on the Horror Game scale.

Kudos!
- Dan

Well, I just wanted Alper Taner to look evil. We wouldn't be sure who the real evil character was.

It wasn't very obvious to me when I played it. I thought that the character was self-centered rather than the kind of guy that would help anyone.

Hi ppl I come from Czech Republic and i d/l this game from czech server with non-commercial playing but full versions..

When i finished playing this game into end i had to write here bcos i didn't play so excellent game. Thx much to developers and pls email me if there are going with some news in this awesome game.

Cee ya  :=

Heh. Took awhile, but I finally got around to playing this.

I had played and disliked Asporia: Hidden Threat, so my hopes and expectations were frankly low.

And then I was blown away by an amazing story. I mean, not only is the story itself very good, solid and compelling, it's also told and structured beautifully. Reminded me of The Dark Eye, gameplaywise. For me, that's high praise. Congratulations!

QuoteWhat else would you want to see in this deluxe version?

Two things:

1 - I'd like to see the mouse cursor change to ARROWS when on a spot where movement will occur. Yeah, I know that means most hotspots, and I know it's not really necessary all things considered, but hey, it's deluxe! ;D

2 - Room transitions are so SLOW! At least give us the option to make them instant, or something.

Also, it wouldn't be a bad idea to either refine the graphics on some parts (this is a game that could stand 800x600 res because it's mostly a visual [very audio, too, accourse, but mostly visual] experience, and if the graphics can look clearer all the better - though they're fine as they are, mind) or increase interactivity in the rooms. I mean, either they're really pretty and rather empty or pixelated (though detailed) and rather interactive... methinks.

And of course, get yourself someone to fix your script, though honestly it's not as bad as people have made it out. It certainly didn't detract from my enjoyment. The dialogs are good, it's just the grammar that fails at times, and it's never all THAT bad. But fix it anyway. :=

There is only one instance of nudity in this game, though it involves a child. Other than that, the game is highly supportive of clothing only gameplay  :=

18+ is also related to violence, isn't it? There are some rather violent scenes, even though they're not animated. And the second nightmare sequence (the not-so-good one) is downright disturbing.

I've actually played the game long enough to say that Living in the Nightmare features some very graphic violence at times. There are constant visuals of blood, crucified skeletons, violent deaths, even a corpse or two. Pretty hard not to call this a violent game that deserves such a rating as 18+.
