A couple of character models

Here are a couple of character models that I've made in the last few weeks.

This first one is  a (so far unfinished) piece of concept art - "if there was a Quest for Glory game with an east asian setting, what would its young hero look like?"

This next character is Cornelius Glory, scientist, poet, and gentleman explorer. He's the protagonist for an original game concept that I'd like to turn into an actual game:

Feedback would be greatfully received - positive or negative. :)

Technocrat

Nic models, but I think Cornelius' head-to-body ratio is a bit off, compared to the first. Even if you were going for a cartoony style, I think the head is just a wee bit too big anyway. I think it's a good shape though, would just need to be a wee bit smaller, to match the body. That is, unless all of the characters are going to have a consistent ratio, but there's the first one, with a better proportion.

Thanks, that's a good point, but they aren't intended to go together. For the second one - Cornelius - I deliberately chose to have him resemble a caricature. So, yeah, you are correct that the proportions are non-realistic, but this is a stylistic choice. Hah - perhaps I have weird taste? :)

There is a rule of perportions that works for everything but chibi. the hand is the size of the face. Even for most cartoony characters, this is still true. Very good otherwise. Just the right amount of cartoony detail, without going overboared. I like. :D

Thanks for that. After reading your feedback, I experimented with increasing the size of the hands. They're a little larger now and the model looks better for it.

The first one could look more asian / anime with a more upturned nose and a narower bridge, but apart from that I think you achieved your goal.

I think the second is much more interesting, however. I love the tones of his clothes, but I think his eyes and hair could be more muted. As they are they make him look a little unearthly. A richer maroon with subtle variations would be great for the hair. A deeper green for the eyes would be more mysterious. I'd also give him bushier eyebrows if he's meant to be over thirty.

What application are you using to generate these characters? It looks great!

They're hand-modelled in Lightwave 3D, not generated.

Paper Carnival

The head of the second picture is still too big. Decrease the size a little bit (even if you do aim for the large head cartoony style) and increase the thickness of the arms. I think the arms, even for a normal size head, are a bit small.

Thanks but, no, I'm happy with the proportions as they are. :)
