A agree, that looks nice. I like the slightly sketchy shading style! The framing and foreground objects are effective too.

If the rounded corners at the top left and right are an arch that's part of the room (and not just an imaginary border) it would add some depth to shade the inside of the arch. I'd use a very dark color, almost black but visible enough to give the arch dimension.

Have you got a character to go with this? As the style is going to be hard to match in a sprite. Amazing if you manage it though!

I haven't finished a full character yet, but I will after I finish my second background (which is going MUCH faster). Then I plan on working on a bit of scripting, since I'm totally new to that as well (though I am a programmer, so it shouldn't be so bad  ).

But yes, I do think I can make characters fit, it's my own style after all!
