This is the first room I made for my new game. The art style comes from this new FF game for the ds and it would look great for PMQ.2 since it is in "AGS format".

does it look good?if any one thinks they can make it look better then please do

Galen

Low resolution pixel art stored as MS Paint quality JPEGs...

No.

SpacePaw

Save it as png and repost :) other then that it looks alright so far (cant say completely though as it's all blurred due to compression)

Icey

Sorry it is jpeg because face book converted it to that, here

Actually that's pretty well drawn.

Even if you did take your colours from FF you seem to have pulled off the perspective pretty much perfectly (with the exception of the rug)

Nicely done.

Virgil

The back wall feels slightly off, like its leaning back. But that might just be me.

You're right. In this perspective it should be a bit broader at the top and given some width too probably

1.once you get to the top you will enter the top floor
2.top floor will be hiding until set 1 happens
3.Y or N,if there is a room with a top floor, you will be able to see the floor from the first floor only it will be 50% clear
4.floor 1 will be come 50% clear once on floor 2

The perspective may seem weird, but I really like it! It's a great background and fits the character style as well. There should be some shadow of the "ladder" on the wall as well.
Worked on Strangeland, Primordia, Hob's Barrow, The Cat Lady, Mage's Initiation, Until I Have You, Downfall, Hunie Pop, and every game in the Wadjet Eye Games catalogue (porting)

Kastchey

Actually, I'm pretty sure he simply copied a Final Fantasy background including perspective and details in a huge part, not only colors or general style. With some minor tweaks like that strange humanoid figure in the back or shadows on the wall near the ceiling. But anyway.

Icey, if you want your background to match a certain style, pay closer attention to how the original is drawn.
In this particular case: do not use brush tool, use pencil. Brush tool leaves those blurry stains and smudges around whatever you're trying to draw. The same goes for the carpet. If you want to add a texture to it, you should avoid using brush tool.
Or alternatively, you could use the brush tool to apply the blurry shadows and texture to the whole background, not just the parts you alter. The way it is now, some parts of the background do not match others, making your work look like... well, a copied background with some minor tweaks.

It's not a bad attempt though. Looks much better than your previous works, so it's definitely a progress. Keep it up?

I think neither.

Anyway, Icey, at this stage your games have stopped being outrageous thievery and have become honest downgrading. Keep on the good work.
Just one thing: try to understand what people say on the forums. You always seem to answer something that has nothing to do with what was said to you. How old are you?

Icey

I'm not seing your point?I just feel I have to respond to people...it could just me though....

Is the background scrolling? Is it real 3d so that when the player moves the background moves too?

I highly doubt that it is, and if it's not you really shouldn't use that style for your world map. Instead you should use a tilebased world map like in Golden Sun (I think) and earlier FF games (I, II and so on). Otherwise it will just look weird.

But if you decide to go for this style, I have  to say it's a relly boring background. It's not poorly drawn, there's just very little going on. just having one-coloured grass and some trees isn't going to cut it.

Introduce more colours to the grass (light green and dark green) and put stuff in there, like a river, some sand... Go nuts! (but not too nuts ;))

Best of luck with your game :)

You're so weird!

Chicky is probably wondering why you'd present us with a screenshot of your game's window in front of an upscaled pic that says menu in the corner.
What's the point?

Why don't you show us the complete original image you've used as background so we can crit it properly. Geez.
Dealing with you is quite tiresome since the communication line is halfway clogged all the time.

Calin Leafshade

actually I would suggest that the one in the background is the Final Fantasy picture he is 'being influenced by'
