Sunrise Manor - Official Topic (Title screen added)

I got this idea for a zombie-horror game called "House of the rising sun".
Yes, I get inspired by music, I don't know why.
It's just a small idea for a story:
There is a story about a house far out on the country, that is called "Sunrise Manor". They say that at night, the house is inavded by monsters beyond your scariest thoughts. But then, why is it called sunrise manor?
That's because, they say that it's the only house where you can see the sun rise at morning in the whole country.
As the sun rises, the manor becomes nothing but, a normal manor.
Although, no one has ever got the guts to go into the manor, not even at day.
They say that, as fast as you go into the manor, the sun will go down quicker than anywhere else, and the monsters begins to rise from where they vanished when the sun rised.
And the night won't end until they've had their meal for the da... I mean night.

It's just a small beggining of a story, If I'm going to make this, it'll be after I'm finished with "Life of a Rockstar".
So, what do you think?

This part, I don't understand. Why wouldn't you be able to see the sun rise from any other house?.... Or did you mean something else?...

Why do you say this, out of interest? Personally, I think it's much more of an achievement to successfully pull off a serious horror game then it is to do a jokey one. I'd say this idea has the potential to make a good straight horror game, though it all depends on how well it's handled of course.

I made a slight change of the story:

That's because, they say that as the night stretches over the house, it changes shape to a big, dark and monster infected manor, but as the sun rises, the manor becomes nothing but, a normal manor.
Although, no one has ever got the guts to go into the manor, not even at day.
They say that, as fast as you go into the manor, the sun will go down quicker than anywhere else, and the monsters begins to rise from where they vanished when the sun rised.
And the night won't end until they've had their meal for the da... I mean night.
However, there is a story about 5 youngsters that got lost as they were searching for the town's local pool-club where they were supposed to meet their other friends for a drink.
They saw the big manor (the sun hadn't gone down yet) and one of them said:
"Let's go in and ask for help there!"
As no one knew about the dangers of the manor, they drove towards the manor.
The road was sorrounded by tall and dark trees.
As they were half-way towards the manor, a very hurt and insane man came towards them and warned them: "Don't go there! There are demons, zombies, ghouls and monsters beyond your worst nightmares!"
The young man driving the car, which thought the man was just demented said to him:
"Get out of the road, oldie! We're just gonna ask about the way to the pool-club!"
"That's what I was going to do too, Don't blame me if you get eaten by the monsters, I warned you." the man says as he walks away into the deep dark forest.
The youngsters were all a little bit frightened of what the man said, but they drove towards the house.
As they arrived, one of the two girls in the car said: "Are you sure we should go in there, after all you heard what the old man said, and the wounds on him looked very suspicious."
The guy who drove the car stepped out of it and said:
"Don't worry, Clara, If we get attacked by any monsters, I'm gonna protect you til' they've eaten every single piece of my flesh."
The other girl stepped out of the car and said:
"Let's go then. It's getting kinda dark, and John has probably been waiting at the club for a while now."
"You're right. Are you coming guys?"
The other two guys climbed out of the car, and they started walking towards the manor. And that's how it all starts...

Sounds better, but i prefer the fact that its the only manor that sees the sunrise, I like that kind of weird stuff. Thats just my opinion.

Hmm... It can still be the only that sees the sunrise, because of the fact that it's all woods and plains around it.
Do you guys think I should do this or Life of a Rockstar first?

ALthough they are both very good games I think yoiu should do this horror game first, it seems very unique and interesting something that i could play for hours.

It's a few kilometers away from the town but yeah, You can't see the sunrise in the town, since it's a town with tall buildings and such.

Hehe, He wasn't insane from the beggining but all the ghouls and monsters etc. made him go mad.
I could a little bit too the story that "Almost everyone who seeks for the pool-club ends up at the mansion for an unknown reason".

sounds cool.. But House of the Rising sun is more about fighting normal people.. lol I dunno, I have to listen to it again.. But if I listen to it I think about a western or a cool movie I'd like to address similar to Dead Man Walking. But that's just me.

It looks a bit disorganised. Also, I think there is too much blood for it to look forboding or scary. Perhaps you can give the title a bit more depth as well? It looks kinda flat now...

These few hints should help make the title screen look better:

- The "Sunrise Manor" font looks good for now. I wouldn't change it - maybe change the colors and make it a little less bright. Also you could reduce the effect, that in the middle of "Sunrise Manor" the font is brighter. This looks too standard to me. But altogether the font is still good.

- The Menu Option Buttons ("Start New Game", "Load Saved Game" and "Quit Game") are looking way to standard. To make them better change the Arial-Font. Then change the color. Maybe you could use the same font style than in the title font "Sunrise Manor"!

- Ok. The next thing is the background. This black/white color gradient is a good idea. I would keep it but maybe try to kill that "stairs"-effect. I don't know if its just there because of that compressed image format.

- And then - as babloyi said - change the blood brushes you've used. Don't use these brushes all over that image... try to create a little "lake" of blood or something on the right side of the image. It would look better, I think. However - just an idea.

Over all - good work. Keep it up.
