========Searching for BS3 Patch======

I've play bs3, but i found a VERY VERY VERY SERIOUS bug!
At the end of paris3 scene , after george was attacked by the neo-templars,
The game freezes! i've tried to find patches on the NET and GOOGLE but
worthless!!

COULD somebody help me????????????

Khris

Hmm, there aren't any patches on the official site, but the troubleshooting section mentions this:
QuoteThe PC version crashes unexpectedly?

If you do not have directx 9 try installing it.

I loved BS1+2, and BS3 was great fun too, except when I got to Montfaucon (with the building site).  While talking to the builder guy, just going through the topics etc, the game froze.  My speakers looped, monitor read 'no signal' and I don't think the reset switch even worked.  When I managed to restart Windows refused to load and gave me a grave error about a corrupt file in the \system32\config folder, and the backups in that folder and elsewhere wouldn't work either.  It also screwed up my harddisk partitions so I had to completely reformat, which wasn't very nice.  Nevertheless, when the computer was up and running again I downloaded the lastest drivers, latest DX, latest patch for BS3 and carried on.  Except it didn't, it did it again at exactly the same point.  Since then I've pretty much replaced everything in my computer but I daren't try it again.

So yea, the BS games are great, I assume I just had a freak error with my PC.

I liked BS1, BS2 was a bit easy for me as the puzzles i found were the a bit the samey.
BS3 i didnt play as im a 2d man myself. Simon 3d and Monkey4 did not impress me at all for 1 reason and 1 reason only     ...  3D
Fair enough the world still turns when you settle on something you like but 3D... Why 3D? in my opinion 3D ruins the way we play adventure games, the customer is now limited on how far outside the box they can see as everything is there, all angles are visible  the imagination is put to the rear of gameplay and the customer/viewer no longer can expect the unexpected.
When i am awake i will probably rewrite this so it makes sense

Does anyone else see where i am coming from  ;D
Currently working on a project!

You can find cutscene packs for scummvm at http://www.scummvm.org/downloads.php, but the game itself is not free. You could try amazon or ebay if you're interested in buying it.

I feel sad, seeing as I haven't had a chance to play BS4: The Angel Of Death yet...
You're not missing out on much...

I recently started replaying BS1 and 2 again, for like the 10th time. I love those games. BS3 was a bit different, but still good. BS4 just kinda sucks.

Now that I'm working on my own game, I look at them much deeper. I know the story and all the locations by heart, so I'm more focused on technical things, like how the people are animated, what makes the background less static, how certain functions would work. It's good fun.

RAY-O, you can try out demos of the Broken Sword games and the Simon the Sorceror games, along with numerous others, on the ScummVM website...here.

That's the best you're going to get as neither series can be considered "abandoned".

For adventures that are "abandoned", you can try Abandonia.

MrBen

Has anyone played broken sword 4 yet? I've bought it but cant run it right yet.

Digital Mosaic Games

Broken Sword 1 is one of the best aventures ever!
The best Adventure in my opinion is GK1.

I didn't use to like steam but I've really warmed up to it this year, and if you pay close attention you can get some AMAZING package deals for retro games off there.  At one point you could get 6 or so lucasarts games for 5 bucks, all guaranteed to work on modern systems.  Broken Sword 2 and 3 are selling on there right now for $3 each until January 3.

Welcome to 2007  :=

Since my previous post on this thread i have completed BS3 and 4 and can say that they have nothing on the first two games, BS4 being worthless.

Also since this thread has been resurrected and the forums are somewhat more strict now, i recommend a move to adventure related.
