Right now I can do the classic palm, various coin retentions, revolution coin magic, and a bit of the muscle pass.

To see the amazing revolution coin magic, click here: http://www.ellusionist.com/order/Revolution-Coin-Vanish.htm

So how about it? Any AGSers here magicians?

I do a bit of close up for family parties ...card tricks ...mindreading...a little bit of coin stuff but not much......impromptu magic looks best as it seems natural.

I don`t pull rabbits out of hats......just hairs out my arse...

Out of curiosity, does anyone here know about Telstar's old "game", Keith Field's The Magician? It was a pretty good manual of magic tricks, with a video demonstration of each and a step-by-step explanation. I guess it got lost, but I still have a copy, and I doubt I'm the only one.
Reach for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars.

Kneel. Now.

Never throw chicken at a Leprechaun.

Gregjazz

To me, the best magic (which is the only kind of magic I do) is impromptu -- so no gimmicks or anything like that.

Rui 'Trovatore' Pires

There's plenty of THAT in "The Magician", too. Rope tricks, coin tricks, card tricks, card SHUFFLES that look might good, impromptu magic, and "con" magic.

I've built some stuff before. I mastered the mummy casket at one period of time. Magic should be big in my opnion. Making an SUV disappear is a lot different then making a coin disappear.

I do some magic, mostly card magic, some coin magic and others.
haven't heard of the magican though

Geoffkhan i saw the revolution about a week ago did you by the dvd or figure it out i really want to know how this is done but i dont want to have the dvd.

Gregjazz

I haven't bought a single DVD, and the only real magic book (not kiddie book  :P) is Mark Wilson's Cyclopedia of Magic, which makes you a jack-of-all trades in magic.

Coin vanishes can be simply amazing. Just because coins are small...

I'll PM you RM.

Woah, that sounded weird.

sedriss

I do close-up on a daily basis. Mostly for friends and family. Been in da biz for a few years.
I work mostly with cards and coins. Impromptu is best imo, but i enjoy some gaffed tricks, such as the Invisible Deck, coin-shells and folding coins.
I'm actually trying to make a folding-Cd, but i dont really know where to start.  :-\

Heh, watch out with the CD. If you cut it the sticky dye inside will ooze out.

Recently I have learned:

Balducci Levitation
King Rising Levitation (this is amazing: http://www.ellusionist.com/order/king.htm)

To do with coin tricks, I'm starting learning flourishes as found on this great website: http://www.coinmanipulation.com/

It's all dexterity!

sedriss

I'm not too fond of the King Rising. I like the angles on Balducci better.
Balducci has been exposed on TV and on many websites though. I blame David Blaine.

Gregjazz

Exactly. Balducci can be cool, and with a big of practice you can go pretty high.

Personally, The Elevator looks the most impressive, where you can go like 6 inches of the ground and you can even shine a flashlight under your feet and people can be looking from any angle. You can even rotate while you're levetating. You can also do The Elevator anywhere.

Czar

The King's rising would be for baggy pant people the best.

I have street magic, it is great, tho i havent had the time to experience it fully.
I'll write some more when i read the whole thread.
Roses are #FF0000
Violets are #0000FF

are belong to you

sedriss

I've never seen The Elevator in action, but it sounds really cool. Anyway.. I dont do much levitations, and when I do, I mostly levitate money or glasses or something like that.

Google it. There's a cool video of it I saw.

sedriss

Found it. Yeah, it's really nice. Gotta try to figure that one out..

Also, i found some other videos of stuff the same guy made. His dancing cane trick is awesome.

Yup, sleight of hand for me too. I've been working on trying to master cups and balls.

Here's an excellent video of Al Schneider's routine:

Magic/Film fact: Orson Welles and Woody Allen were both amateur magicians. And Terry Gilliam likes magic too.

Gregjazz

That's really cool. I figured out everything except for the big cotton balls at the very end.

Even knowing how he did it, he's REALLY good at those illusions. I've seen a few of his other tricks (but not this one) and they all are impressive.
