Just got my son watching The Goonies on DVD, I must of watched it about 24 times in the space of a week with him lol...but my God is it a great kids film.

It's a shame there's no films made like this nowadays for kids, the world's too PC. The Goonies had the kids saying 'shit', 'crap', there were penis jokes, it's EXACTLY how kids behave at that age. Nowadays our kids are spoonfed fairytale goody-goody 2-shoe-type CGI generated movie nonsense.

I'm guessing a load of you guys and gals must of seen this movie? And if so, what do you think of it?

passer-by

I have seen it when I was young. I'm still quoting it. I liked it. I've also seen Madagascar. Seven times in one week.  :-[
I liked both, for different reasons. I didn't value the foul language but the expession of some normal childish craziness, adventure-seeking and healthy disobedience. Some good scenario lines, as well, of course.

I hate pokemon-style films.

No.

Liked NES game tough.

Darth Mandarb

This is one of my favorite movies of all time!

It's one of those movies that my brother and I still quote regularly (as passer-by mentioned as well).

The part where Mouth shouts, "oooooohhhhhh shiiiiiiiitttttt!" when he flies out of the water-slide ... we just thought that was the most funny thing ever and would rewind it over and over and over to listen to it.

"Okay you guys; Michael Jackson didn't come over to my house ... to use the bathroom... but his sister did!"
- Chunk

"That's what I said, booty-traps ... be quiet, shhhh!"
- Data

"Ahhh man ... you smell like phys-ed!"
- Chunk

Oh the memories!  I could go on and on!!

DazJ

"And WHAT is that?" Mikey & Brand's Mum

"Oh shit what?!" Chunk

lol!

Infact, everytime Chunk says the word 'shit' it cracks me up!

OneDollar

I watched it a couple of years ago when I was ill and didn't like it. I re-watched it a month or two ago and completely changed my mind. I really like how it feels like we're getting a glimpse of just one of the adventures of the Goonies, and there's no messing around with "Ooh maybe we shouldn't do this our parents might get worried" or whatever. Nice and imaginative too, you can tell Spielberg wrote it.

Not one of my favourites, but a good one anyway

evenwolf

That was my mom's favorite piece!
"I drink a thousand shipwrecks.'"

DazJ

You idiot! You glued it on upside down!

Ruth, Ruth, Ruth, Baby, Ruth!

Stupot

Ahh I haven't seen this classic for a long long time...
You're right, they just don't make family films like this anymore.

Am I the only one who hears "Hey you guys!" and thinks of The Electric Company? (which is the TV show that Sloth was quoting?)  I feel old. :)

Evil

I love this movie. My friend and I used to watch only two movies when I'd come over. The Goonies and Mother Goose's Rock'N'Rhyme.  My favorite part of Goonies is at the very end when they talk about the octopus, but they cut it from the film because it looked like crap. They've even cut it from the DVD. It's not in the movie, but they didn't edit out the part when they talk about how scary it was.

"Fifty dollar bill. Fifty dollar bill. Fifty dollar bill!!!"

DazJ

Before I knew of the octopus scene though I presumed it was just your typical kids lying and exaggerating so it still worked.

Monster House is good.

Well, it has a good script at least. I wish they'd filmed it live action like Rob Schrab and Dan Harmon intended, though: The motion capture is hideous, watch with you eyes closed for best results.
