I had a similar problem once I got a load of music from my cousin. When the Mp3's played it opened a web page. But if I skipped the first 10 seconds or so. It wouldn't open the web page. And then AVG or Avira said Codec Virus or something. Maybe it was the uploader had a virus and then gave it to you.

For the record I trust incompetech.com and I'm pretty sure that any trojans I did or didn't get didn't come from there (the files were fine originally). Not trying to bad mouth it, I think it's a great site and one AGSers should know about.

Anyway, getting off topic. Security Essentials seems fine, know a couple of people using it and I've not heard anyone having any problems with it yet.

Layabout

I use it. Even when scanning it is very light on resource usage. I run avast along side it and they both pick up viruses very well. MSE is quicker on picking up a threat too.

I'm considering giving it another go, although when running Win7 RC I did come face to face with a nasty startup hang of my computer which I eventually tracked down to a malware protection service that apparently was part of MSE. But before that happened I had used it for a while, so I'm guessing it's not per se a flaw in the software but something else gone wrong, possibly issues with the RC or such.

Seemed good and well working up to that, hope it continues on that so I don't have to fiddle with it onwards. If not, Avira it is.
I used to make games but then I took an IRC in the knee.

<Calin> Ishmael looks awesome all the time
