Esseb: No, it was not. Badly addressed, I admit. It was to rh-wotwassit, whose name I cannot be arsed to check for correct spelling.
I used to make games but then I took an IRC in the knee.

Ok, enough off-topicism, I think we've got the trolling out of the way. Please keep things relative to the original post, I don't want to see this turn into 80 pages of unnecessary nonsense.

Oh, so it's about sex? I didn't even think about it that way until you people with dirty minds mentioned it.

o_O

Yes, yes it is... it took me like 5 minutes of careful re-reading to figure out the clue to the real topic.

I have to say that it's a strange question to ask. For example, it's kind of like asking if you accept having an affair. Well, of course you do if you're having one yourself! but I don't think the wife would approve, you know? My family is famous for having their secret ladies, and there are even some interesting stories, though I don't think it's either accepted or frowned upon, at least from my point of view. Maybe the women in my family think it's wrong.

The best way to find out about your situation is just to be out in the field and talk about sex with people that you will meet and your future friends, to understand how they think about the topic. Maybe even mention your situation as a joke first (like SSH is doing) to see how they react. Doing research beforehand is going to be hard because it depends on the exact location in the UK where you'll live. I'm guessing that in the city people are sexually more open than a small city/town. Same thing here in the States.

Finally, asking for a phone number on first sight is one thing (and I haven't tried it, I do some talking first...), but asking for an intimate relationship, of any kind, on eye contact is another story.

I came on this morning, saw this topic and thought, "How on earth did it get to 3 pages already? It was moving so slowly yesterday".

Ah.

Like CJ said, if you don't like the subject of the thread and just want to attack the poster, don't post on it. I was rather bored with it yesterday but now that I know what it's about, it's interesting  ;D (Not in... that way... I just mean it's fun to read).

I think this is your answer right here though, if you were wondering about people's reactions to your lifestyle. Mixed, so you still have to be careful in unknown circles.

My own two cents on the subject, since it's been raised... heck, I wish kids weren't so innocent! One of my students asked me on Friday, "What does 'turn me on' mean?" and I was so embarrased to try and explain it to him. He's gonna be 18 next year so there should have been no reason for it. If kids weren't so silly about sex, it wouldn't have been so difficult for me. I'd rather we made efforts to make them maure about the topic, rather than keep them innocent... the only -reasonable- reason I can think of for keeping kids innocent is because keeping them at home watching TV all night would make it more fun for the rest of us when we wanna go out. No annoying teenagers out ^_^

The day I can say 'fuck' around a kid without fear of some angry mother getting narky at me... well, I guess it's already come because they don't have a concept of swearing in Japan (and if I say "fuck" in English, they usually don't understand anyway). Although I wish the language had stronger words for expressing anger, I admire that they don't just taboo certain words. It's so senseless...

Holy Cow look what I started...Ã,  ::)

And Rhape's reaction is EXACTLY why this topic is hard to approach people about here in the states, as most the populus react in that way. I've been threatened online, been slapped, in all of the attempts to talk to an individual on this subject only 3 reacted without anger (and 1 was because she was too young but she was interested) of the other two one was married, and the other just "didn't swing that way".

How the last 3 reacted is the mature mindset I'm hoping exists where I am headed, I know in Germany it happened quite often. I just don't see why people have to react so violently, Rhape seems the type of person that if (assuming rhape is male) another male hit on him he would get upset and possibly violent. I've had that happen a few times and each time it's nothing more than while flattering, not my thing.

And I wasn't asking if they accept having an affair, the question was (in more words), "Can you approach someone in the streets in the UK and talk to them in an effort (if chemistry is there) to make an interpersonal connection."

I did my best to be discrete on the full extent of my question, so much as to be enigmatic, so when I gave more hints as to what exactly I was asking I suddenly get attacked for trying to corrupt the youth.

And Rhape last I checked this was the general discussion forum, in which one can bring up any topic that is not covered in the other forums. This thread applies. This is one of the few forums that I know of that has a high concentration of European and more importantly UK'ers. Most of my other message boards have only a handfull (that I know of).

And really, he must have not been on these forums near as long as I have because there have been far worse topics on this board.

If anything it was quite amusing, however I do like to see that the acceptance list is quite a bit larger than the "Back to the depths of hell you demon!" crowd.

Oh and this is for Pesty "ME AND MY OLD LADY WANT TO HAVE SEX WITH PEOPLE! TELL THE CHILDREN!".

I accept you Alynn, although now my image of you has changed. Before you looked like that avatar of yours in my head....Now I see you wearing a burgandy turtle neck and smoking a pipe....weird eh?

Weirdly enough, I used to be in law enforcement, and I happened to move next door to a co-worker (A deputy). I then found out he was real big into swinging...I didn't mind except that his kids knew about his and his wifes lifestyle (I guess that is better than pretending and finding out later) and would talk about it with my kids. It was....odd....

jfritzyb

Alynn, why don't you make a game about your situation?

He he?

--JJ

PSÃ,  At the end of it, make a script where you ask the reader to PM you what they think you should do in that situation. Lol...

:D

My son is 18 months old and my daughter is 8. She has no idea about our lifestyle. And until we have the "talk" or until she figures it out on her own, then we'll explain it to her. However she is fully aware of what "gay" and "lesbians" are. It's hard not too this close to Seattle, and gay, lesbian, and homosexual are floated on the evening news and talk shows.

It's a personal decision, hell my wife approached me with this, and I damn near choked to death on my subway sandwich (I was midswallow when she told me). I just wish people would be open minded enough to say "While I don't agree with it, I'll accept your choices."

Hrm... No pipes and I hate turtlenecks... and actually I do look similar to my Avi, except for the glowing eyes part... that was a slight embelishment ;D

Yes jfrizyb, I shall, and the evil group of censors trying to destroy me!!!! i wil wen dis battel! :D

I figured as much.

It was, however, nonsensical. What manual should rharpe read?

Oh I dunno -- the City is full of stiff upper-lip suit types; move into the country and the people are at one with the animals... I'm sure AGA can fill you in on that...

Do you mean, perhaps, "While I don't agree with it, I'll tolerate your choices"? Acceptance requires agreement, after all.

Also, I don't think open-mindedness has anything to do with acceptance or tolerance. Having an open mind requires a person to take an idea that is given to them, consider it carefully, then make an educated decision as to whether to agree with it or not. It does not require you to accept the idea, nor does it require you to tolerate it.

For the record, I'm completely against your lifestyle as well; however, I'm not your mommy, and therefore can't make moral decisions for you. Unfortunately, I also am not in a position to give you any advice. Good luck finding what you are looking for.
Actually, I HAVE worked on a couple of finished games. They just weren't made in AGS.

Hahah, man, just stumbled on this thread and boy was I missing out.

I loved Rharpe's original post with his advice on picking up women... I think I may have shit myself reading that. Maybe just a little.

Yea I keep them in bags in the closet.

Actually, I'm lying. I've never been out of this room. But sometimes I see them walking on the street outside my window. And of course, they post here sometimes.

Quote]Obviously I have made a name for myself when it comes to opposing immorality... this is fine by me.

No, you haven't made a name for yourself as one who opposes immorality. You've made a name for yourself as the resident fundie with an assorted collection of chips on your shoulder, always eager to condemn and criticize with a bible at hand.

QuoteI like that everyone knows where I stand on certain issues.

See, this is the problem. Nobody asked you to pass judgement. It's one thing to present an alternate viewpoint for the sake of discussion, which is welcomed in a message-board, and completely another to get on your soapbox, preach, condemn and also rediculously claim you're 'doing it for the innocence of the kids'. Nobody asked you. You're not a moderator. It's not your job. You are not Becky's dad. Do in your own house as you desire. Here, it might be a better idea to treat dissenting opinions and lifestyles to your own with respect. We are NOT all American fundamentalists like you, nor do we all believe in your god, or adhere to your morality of choice. We may all discuss things that you therefore might find insulting or deviant if we so desire. If this leniency offends you, then leave.

I.E. Becky! She is a 17 year old that is now defending this behavior... she's only 17... I'm sure there are people that are even younger.

That's extremely condescending, and I think you owe Becky an apology.
I've met Becky and she's very mature and thoughtful, and strikes me as a person more able to deal with things of this nature than your obstinate narrow-mindedness will ever allow you to be.

it's now Everyone post cracks at rharpe time.
It seems to be that time quite often. You can do something about it, but you sort of need to realise it yourself. Good luck.
