Vel, isn't that fairly new? I was reading about it on GameSpot. Is it really that good? I was actually thinking about buying that.

I've heard very mixed things about Runaway.  Some people say it's great, some say it's so-so.  Regardless, everybody seems to say it's definitely worth playing, and we know it looks great.

It's a new game, so you SHOULD be able to get it wherever you get games usually.  Depending on where in the world you live, though, it's just been released so it may not be everywhere yet.  It's been out in Spain for two years now, and they've been working on localizing it and securing worldwide publishers.  I know it was just released a matter of days ago in the US and I believe Britain as well.  Various other European countries have had it for anywhere from a couple weeks to a couple months.

It's only recently been translated to English in Europe, so it may be some time/never before it's purchasable in the US.

Actually I think it's available now in the US.

Actually, I really think it is the best game of all time. Of course, only time will show whether I am right.

Runaway was quite good, even though Monkey Island 2 is the best adventure game I've ever seen.

So...
1. MOnkey Island
2. Runaway
3. Zak Mckracken

Well, i have to vote for two.

1. Curse of Monkey Island, i felt this was an excellent game, plus it felt like an interactive cartoon.

2. Kings Quest V. I remember getting this game when CD-Roms were first being used on computers, and all I remember was my jaw dropping to the floor when i first played it.

Both of these games, i still go back and play, i think they are that good.

I stick by my belief that the NES classic "Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom" is the greatest adventure game of all time. Since no one else will agree with me on that fact,  I'll also say that Heart of China, the Monkey Island games, King's Quest 5 and Sam and Max are brilliant, well made adventure games.

Without a doubt, 'Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge' for me. Maybe it's me nostalgia-trippin', but whenever I replay that game I still get so much out of it. Everything about it is near-perfect I think. I love the graphics, the humor, the puzzles, the plot (which is dramatic enough to excite the player yet still quite light-hearted in parts), and of course the excellent MIDI music that runs throughout the whole thing. It can't be beat.

Respectable runners-up: 'Day Of The Tentacle', 'The Secret Of Monkey Island', 'Grim Fandango', 'Indiana Jones And The Fate Of Atlantis'.

Notice it's all LucasArts, but they were the best IMO.

Runaway is available in the US.  I'm playing it now. It's not bad.  Not great either.  The puzzles are a bit random, and there's no reason at all to care about the main characters, but the graphics are gorgeous and the  NPCs are colorful and fun - this game has drag dancers, people!

I'm at the beginning of chapter 5 right now.  I'll see how the rest of the game goes before I pass real judgement.

is it just me, or are there a lot of threads about this?

In this order:
Monkey Island 1
Monkey Island 2
Beneath A Steel Sky

And I love DOTT too.
LucasArts rocks!
