Mr_Frisby

I was pretty happy with this - he's a character from a game I have been trying to write for a while - hopefully I will figure out a complimentary background style and be able to make a quick demo soon.
I'll post more info as soon as I have some good screenshots.
Just interested in peoples opinions on the style.

Took me all day (still not 100% on those back diags).
cheers!
Hey! All my awesome trophies dissapeared in the year since I was here last. CONSARN_IT! with an underscore!!! I earned dem tings!! Oh well. Hope your Monkey floats.

Very Good!!  ;D
A couple of things that bug me.
Firstly, the placement of his ears almost look like cheeks while he's facing forward .
Maybe move them up a couple of pixels and shorten the width a tad. His eyes might benefit from a little more detail, though it could turn out to be a style trademark amoungst all of your characters, in which case they'd do just fine :P
Might wanna remove some overall outline thickness... 1 pixel less perhaps.
All in all Very very nice!! can't wait to see more from you! :)

PureGhostGR

I like the attention to detail. It is mind blowing (are these stripes at his socks?)

excellent stuff. I would be very interested to play a demo.

keep it up! :)

Hollister Man

Great pic.  I agree that he MAY need pupils in his eyes, but look at Annie (the old comic).  I think it might be hard to animate much with the amount of detail you have.   Those lines in the collar and socks are great, but they could be tiresome to animate well.

The bottom line- it is high enough quality that if YOU like it, it is good enough for any game.
That's like looking through a microscope at a bacterial culture and seeing a THOUSAND DANCING HAMSTERS!

I really like the style. I've always been partial to the hollow pupils look (I use it for any cartoony-comic characters that I draw).

I like thick pixel-borders on computer drawn cartoon characters.

I'd been toying with some concepts myself that I may post later if time permits.

I wanted to do something with a really cartoony character with a thick, high contrast border around him set against a photo-realistic background.

Hueij

I think the blank eyes are really great. When I first saw him staring at me I had to laugh...

The thick outline and the thin lines inside are a good idea IMO, they really make your character stands out. I would like to see him against a background.

Good work!

Squinky

Don't change a thing, cause he rocks man....

MrColossal

i don't think those are eyes...

are they?

they look more like hair or some kinda eyebrow and not eyeballs

i enjoy him also

makes me think of french comics for some reason
"This must be a good time to live in, since Eric bothers to stay here at all"-CJ also: ACHTUNG FRANZ!

Mr_Frisby

Thankyou for the nice thing yall said.
Those are eyes, I just draw eyes like that lately -
there weird and keep me interested.
I'm working on walking and making a complimentary background so I'll post those too when I'm done
(maybe make a short 1 room demo 'r somethin')
but it maybe a little while.

Thanks again.

Mr. Frisby, I thought I'd post my concept of double-lined characters on a photo-real background. This image is using limited color, and is set at 320x240. The robot is a character named Inventory 04 that I've been kicking around in my head forever. He is currently in pieces and is non-operational.

The perspective is off, but I just thought I'd throw something together for you to see:

Hollister Man

I think what Doug reminds me of is Robotman the comic.  I think I've seen that style before, with the eyes up high without pupils.

Penquinx thats really good. I like the style.
I looorve robor man he is one of my favorites (although I haven't read him in years - I guess that stuff sticks to the back of your brain though)

Igor: thanx for the suggestion. I think you will be able to enjoy the eyes style more when you can see him interacting with more characters like him (I hope any way). I will keep your suggestion in mind but for now I think I like the eyes.

First i must say i simply love the character and animation. Great style!
The only thing that doesn't look that good to me are his eyes... At first i thought those are his hair. I think the problem here are not "hollow" eyes, which i personally like, but their placement.
Btw, here's a little edit of how i thought character was supposed to look the first moment i saw the pic, hehe:
