10 days would be good, then those of us who really wanna see New York (I definitely want to go again, I loved it the last time) could spend the remaining 3/4 days in NYC, perhaps a few of us together, maybe alone, whatever...

n3tgraph

I personally don't have to see NY really... :)

I never visited it or anything, but it just doesn't attract me somehow :P
besides going to america itself is expensive enough for me ;)

But... you're Dutch! You should love New York!

Stupid age limit ^_^
I'm going to be defectingmoving to West GermanyConnecticut early next year, and the probability of me being able to use some kinda car (albeit an illegal, uninsured, cheap ass hillbilly one), or even some kinda bus is reasonable. However, if you're going to set an age limit, I guess that means I'll have to stay at home, and not get the criminal record disowning by parents alchohol induced kidney failure experience of meeting AGS heroes I've always wanted. Bummer. ^_^

dont worry, it just means they have to hold another mittens in the USA so we can meet the americans .. and all the people that go in 2004 and more have to go

Pesty

I promise to try very hard to get to Mittens, mainly because I do not want eric to swallow my soul (I need it!). I have the same problem Dragonrose has, what with being a girl going to visit males I have never met in person before. My mom thinks me going would be fun, but my dad's quite a bit more paranoid about me.

Money is the only other big issue. I'm unsure of where I'll be in a year or so, school or job-wise. I would start saving up now, but I have no form of income and you can't save up nothing and turn it into gold, now can you!

I know its a long way off but, for me at least ,the sooner a date is settled the better.  I'm pretty sure I'll be coming regardless of what dates are chosen but it would just make it easier to start planning.

Those who have problems getting parents' permission should point out that at previous meetings, there have been really young people attending, albeit no girls of course, and there have been no problems whatsoever.
If necessary, we'll do a fruittree action, where we all adress your parents personally and tell them why you should be allowed to go.

Heh, nice idea Andail. Anyway with the new age limit (which i understand) I can't go, not would I have been able to anyway, lots of reasons. Anyway, I was just wondering if there's any idea of where the Mittens after 2004 (2005) will be held? I'll be 16 then, though finances might still be a problem..

Anyway, everyone enjoy Mittens, and take lots of pictures! :)

first of all: I WILL be comming to the US mittens...  It would be foolish of me not to, hell, if you reserve far enough in advance, you can go just about anywhere for about 99 bucks.

Secondly, I want to hit the 2005 Mittens, I may sell one of my kidneys to get the cash to do it.

I heard it was in Benedorm, 2005. Anyway, its too early to dicuss 2005, please, lets not. It just gets everybody arguing. We've made it a rule that we discuss and decide where the Mittens to follow is decided at MITTENS, not on the forum.

Therefore if you want it to be held in your country, go to Mittens. :)

Also, to reassure parents hopefully a phone number or phone numbers will be available for a parent to contact the Mittens supervisors (or previous ones if necessary).

I will be there.

The sooner the basics are worked out the better.

Date?
Location?
$$ for extra activities?
$$$ for lodging?
Length of stay?

Money, as always, is tight so it may seem like it is really too early to say all of this for sure but, I really need a figure to shoot for. Doesn't have to be exact...how much did other Mitteneers spend in previous years? Not on travel, but on everyday stuff.

7 to 10 days sounds pretty good for the length of stay.

So, is Eric the official thingy and is New York State the offical place? I vote yay on both.

Why, the locations all the way to 2007 have already been settled. It's just no one reads earlier posts in threads.

Yes please!  I think if my parents actually talk to someone they'd be okay with it.  I was supposed to go to New York for a school trip last year anyways.  It just never happened because of stupid George "The Chimp" Bush and his stupid warmongering.  We'd even paid for most of it when the school board cancelled all out of country trips.

Eric - why over 18's only?

My guess is that it's because 18 is considered adult age in the U.S., and I suppose it's just easier in terms of liability and so forth.  For people under 18, Eric could possibly be legally at fault in some way if someone was injured or something under his supervision.  That's my guess, anyway.
