I've been a Deviant for a little while now ...

I love the idea of that community but the server (or site code) TOTALLY SUCKS!!!

It's sooooo frickin' slow.

My question is this:
Are there any members here who are subscribing Deviants? They claim that if you become a paying member the site speeds up. Is this really true?

I'll be damned if I'm going to give them any money for that slow of a site. It's rather pathetic.

I use LGM's server and upload my pictures to an online diary. www.xanga.com But as for Deviant, I would say screw it. You are probably better off making a website with your art on there. That way you have what you want without them bitching, giving you rules.

Deviant Art is an online community for artists. You post your art work there and it's a huge community so you get lots of feedback.

I like the idea ... but it's gotta be the slowest/shittiest server I've ever seen!

Evil - I like your work. I'm currently working on my own company's website. Part of that is my portfolio site. I think what I'll do is just use (free) Deviant Art to bring people to my website. My server must be 20 times faster than theirs.

It seemed pretty quick for me to.. faster than most sites, actually. Weird, maybe my 33.6 has be buffing up recently.

I wonder what's up with that? Did you try to go into any galleries or view thumbnails? That's usually where I run into the bottle neck. Just the front page tends to connect quick for me too.

Or when I try to submit some work.

Deviant Art is fast for me...most of the time. On other occassions, it seems to get extremely slow. I don't know why. I'm guessing it's traffic.

This is horribly non-scientific but:
10:20 PM (PST) from California. Connection: 584kbps DSL via 10 Mbps wireless connection.

Main page load: 2.5 seconds
Main page Refresh: 2.65 seconds
View submission [4592263]: 2.7 seconds (r=514x682)
View submission [4576823]: 1.82 seconds (r=681x800)

Seems pretty quick to me. I would have to assume that sluggishness is due to traffic at certain times of day and not do to the site itself.

I have a deviantARt account. The server is generally okay for me. It takes about as long as a massive page filled with 30 or so thumbnails would usually take to load.

I like the site, it doesn't have too many rules.

It runs slow for me as well. Friggin 10 seconds before a page loads!! Cripes!!
