Just out of curiosity, which puzzles, in any adventure games, did you think were most ridiculous?

Eggie

Well...The twiddle puzzles in Toonstruck were pretty unforgivable. The Simon the Sorcerer had some real stinkers, too.
Hush puppies...Jesus...

Barcik

Currently Working On: Monkey Island 1.5

Cerulean

MI1: "How to Get Ahead in Navigating."

And just about everything in the Infocom Hitchiker's Guide, but it was by the man himself and we love him all the more for it.

I hated that puzzle! I was stuck on it from the time I got the game to the time I got internet and checked up a walkthrough. After that I finished most of the rest of the game with the walkthrough   :(

The ultimate Professional Amateur

Now, with his very own game: Alien Time Zone

Personally, I thought Gabriel Knight 3's Le Serpent Rouge and Sydney puzzles were truly wicked.

Gregjazz

I think I saw a similar thread on the HE forums.

In MI2, you have to 'take the sign' to get the shovel. Hmmm.....

Gilbert

Well... I'll say ALL teh puzzl3z in RLBAT.

Gemmalah

probably working out what you had to collect in the first part of toonstruck aahhh who thought that rock and roll would require a real bread roll.
Dragon Slayers demo finally finishedGet it here!

Lazy Z

Off the top of my head... the rubber ducky puzzle in TLJ, truly heinous.
'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves did gyre and gimble in the wabe. All mimsy were the borogroves and the mome raths outgrabe.'

Speaking of The Longest Journey, what about the crystals puzzle? You had to arrange four crystals in a certain manner, arrange some dials, etc. but everything I tried wouldn't work. I tried all "logcial" possibilities. Too bad too, because TLJ would've been the first ever game I played where I didn't need a walkthrough/cheats/UHS file, but alas I had to cheat for that puzzle.

Hush Puppies. By a VERY long way.

GAAAAH!!!!

Although if you mean "puzzles that make you do amazingly weird things, as though they were perfectly normal"... I guess it'd be Day of the Tenticle, where you change the American flag to be a knitted tenticle... It's just totally brilliant that something so freakish feels so obvious!

PeaceMan

I too must agree here,
QuoteHush Puppies. By a VERY long way.

The boulder puzzle in MI4

The coffin ride thing in MI4

I know it probably isn't a puzzle, but Monkey Kombat is a pain.

The slot machine in the Feeble Files (Instead of bloody playing the thing a hundred times over why doesnt he just give it a whack?).

Getting the green crystal in Toonstruck.

Dave Gilbert

Anyone play the Infocom game "Planetfall?"

In the game, there's a dark room.  Inside another room filled with radiation, there's a lantern.  You'd think that you would have to somehow survive the radiation to get the lantern, but no.  It's a red herring.  I spent AGES dying of radiation poisoning before I tried something else.  Not very fair. :p

HillBilly

Every single puzzle in "The Longest Journey". God that game was annoying. Still, i finished all the 4 CD's.

TerranRich

God, HillBilly, that's quite an annoyingly large signature image you got there. You'd better not post another time, or I'll have to smack you hard for wasting space.

If you mean the one, in the cave with the strange long seahorses... then yes, i couldnt do that one. It was in Chapter 10 I Think...I haven't checked any walkthrough yet... though it's more than a year ago I played that game. So I'm still stucked there, and haven't finished the game, though I'd love to finish it! ;D *without cheating*
