Myself it's Grim Fandango, then Curse of Monkey Island and Day of the Tentacle.

Nine Toes

I really haven't played too many adventure games lately, but I think my most recent favorite would have to be 5 Days a Stranger.
Watch, I just killed this topic...

Nacho

I think every newbie asks this ::). But, no problem, as my favourite adventure game changes depending on my emotional state... When I saw POTC it was MI2, now, with my Indy DVD colection, I think I can say, Indy 3"...

My favorite adventure game is... Starcross.

"Flipping out and kicking off heads since 1996"

AndersM

I liked 'Future Wars', (I think it counts as anadventure game, it's at least point'n'click)

Mmm, Infocom adventures. True classics! Zork Trilogy here.

Best game ever is definately Monkey Island Trilogy (I know there were fourth games, but it was crap). There is just nothing like the hot winds of hell blowing at your face!

sedriss

Me favorite game is Beneath a Steel Sky.
Why? Becuse it kicks ass.
By the time you read this you've already read it.

Infocom!  Wiigii!  It's nice to see people still remember these.  I inhaled them as a kid.  My personal favorite has to be "A Mind Forever Voyaging."  AMFV had the most detailed virtual world I've ever seen, bar none.  Nobody has ever topped it.

I might be declared anathema, but I never really liked the original Zork much.  No plot, no interesting characters, instant death... nice puzzles though.   The later Zorks (Beyond Zork, Zork Zero) were fantastic, probably because the Implementors became writers and storytellers.

Grim Fandango and Seasons of Sakura tie for my favourite game.

Which reminds me, DG; I just managed to get SoS running in XP last week.

...

I'm sure that I had something to add to that, but it's gone.

Anyhoo, prolly Grim Fandango for me, 'swell.

Rincewind

Grim Fandango, Gabriel Knight 1, Discworld Noir...

Mm... Noir...

"Heard of the Milka?"
"Sure. Put it in my coffee-a."
"Ha, ha, ha. It's a ship."
"Yeah, I know."

"Oh, I'm not sure. My memory isn't very good. I need things to jog it..."
"Would a crowbar work?"
"That's not what I meant."

"If I mention a gold-plated jewel, will you say something sarcastic?"
"It's a good bet."

[/uncontrolled discworld noir quoting-mania]

...

...Ok. I'm allright now.

mmm. Discworld Noir.  Anyone who has played my games can see the obvious influence of DN.  A true masterpiece, marred only by the fact that it won't play on Windows XP. :-(
