Just a quickie.

I have a file in midi format, which I would like the game to play every time score is given.

However, AGS does not recognise midi extensions as "sound" files, but as music.

Do you guys know of any free programs out there to convert midi to .wav?
It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It's the size of the fight in the dog.

I believe there was a thread about this, perhaps in the general discussion area?  I tried a search but didn't find it. Anyway, the problem you've got is one of taking something that uses your FM synth to a digital recording.  So,  you can play the file and record the output.  I don't know jack about your system but the SB Live & newer cards have an option to record "What U Hear." This gets rid of crappy-recording issues.  I believe Winamp can handle the same task by going to its options and changing the output plugin to the wavewriter plugin.  You open the file, play it back (will take only a few seconds) and voila! You've got a wavefile.

Or you could do some decent googling.

Hay Aussie,

Quick Question...Quick Answer:

TiMidity++

It's not the easiest program to install, but once you get it up and running it works fine. However...since TiMidity uses Eawpats to convert midi-instruments to wav, the sound of your song will slightly change. Depending on the type of music, this should either be considered an enhancement or not.

Oh...and one last remark: They say the GUI overlay does not work on NT and might not work on XP...On my XP-Pro machine I have no problem what so ever.

Good Luck,
Hope it helps...

Ps. You'll probably also want some URLs so you don't have to Google yourself.

hey aussie, I've got a program that does exactly what you want

it's called "MIDI2WAV Recorder"

you can record straight through your sound card from midi straight to wav, I've used it and it works like a charm.

I could probably email it to you, it's about 105kb

you can just load up an app such as cooledit or probably even sound recorder, hit record then start playing the midi, it worked for me and i've got an SB16

I can only recommend you free online services like solmire.com. But my internet connection is no good for converting a bunch of midis. So I use commercial MIDI Converter Studio.
