Is it me, or was there something wrong with the forums. On my computer, peoples post's magically vanished?

Now its got me wondering if something is wrong with my computer.

Squinky

Yep, I posted some stuff, and it dosen't seem to be there anymore...althought this "test" may be unrelated...

Domino

Maybe this test was the AGS version of the Philadelphia Experiment. Be afraid.

A lot of posts are gone, and I know I'm not just freaking out because posts that I know I made are gone. I thought I'd leave a note just in case it happened to anyone else as well. Maybe moderators need to re-lock some threads if they've changed anything in the past few hours.
Once I killed a man. His name was Mario, I think. His brother Luigi was upset at first, but adamant to continue on the adventure that they started together.

Domino

same thing happened to me, at first i thought it was my computer. But now i know it was just the forums that had the problem.

i swear we went back in time.

Darth Mandarb

It jumped back in time!  2 PMs disappeared from my list!

"Bill my friend ... strange things are afoot, at the circle K."

Domino

It was weird because i had seen a thread started by or locked by MrColossal, and then a couple of minutes later, the thread had just started.

oh, the damage to my brain, oh the damage.

heading off to watch Back To The Future

Okay, I think I get it. To put everybody else's words into intelligent and readable form...

Basically, posts and PMs made during a certain period of time just a few hours ago, were erased. It gave the effect that we had all traveled backward in time, as those posts are now gone and it is as if they were never posted.

I experienced this just now in the Adventure talk and chat forum, with my AGSopoly thread. I had replied to it, and suddenly my reply was gone, as if I had never posted it.

Weird.
Status: Trying to come up with some ideas...

MrColossal

No need to worry,

It turns out we were all part of a tangental universe that has since been reversed thanks to the awesome powers of the reciever.

I won't mention who the reciever is in order to protect his family from any danger, just know that thanks to his sacrifice we are all safe.

Now, who shall enjoy the Onion Rings?

Now, i may never be able to order Onion Rings at the Burger King drive-thru without shedding a tear.

The computer probably had a problem, and a backup was loaded.

I don't know where the forum is hosted, but if it is on a Unix system, this is entirely possible. Once someone (a custodian) tripped over the cord to the e-mail system at my Uni and didn't plug it back in; crap was screwed up for a week. That was a total power loss though.

..So it wasn't just the moderators out to get me?

You guys might want to check the inside of your shoes before you put them back on.

Chicky

Same here...There was 2 replies on my thread and now they magically disappeared. It's clearly the work of a petty thread thief. Think about it - they come wandering along, see a few posts they find interesting and think:

"Ooh, I like these, I'm having 'em."

and before you know it they're rammed into his sack and he's away...

WE can only pray he meets a painful death  :P

It seems that the web hosts have decided to move us to a new server. Except that they took a backup 5 hours before they actually did the move, and didn't bother to tell me about it.

So yes, any posts made between about 23:00 GMT yesterday and 04:00 GMT this morning have disappeared.

If anybody made any particularly important posts in that time that they want to retrieve, the old server is still intact here:
http://12.129.225.115/~agsforum/yabb/
BUT if you click a link it will take you back to this forum, so you'll have to keep editing the URLs if you want to browse the forum there.

Meowster

CJ, I have to tell you something about the future!

Haddas

I thought CJ had pressed Delete by mistake. Whew!
