I have never done a back ground yet as I have been using some from the net .
Thinking maybe it was time to try one , I'm  bad at art so Not the best background and doing the other stuff in the room has me sitting here thinking maybe I should give up now . lol
Well anyways what do you think and should I stop now ?

Why give up? It looks very nice so far. There's very little to criticize or give advice about, yet, but after furnishing the room and adding more details, I'm sure It'll be pretty nice bg. Shading too, of course. Current volume lights from windows are too bright, unless you'll paint other areas of room alot darker.
Keep on going!

I guess thats one thing I have to learn is how to make the other parts darker .
And make the furnishing etc .. I tend to draw stick people . heh heh

I use this quote all the time!

You have a great start there!  I find that when I start making backgrounds I get discouraged.  But as I add more and more detail you kind of hit a groove. Pretty soon you'll feel unstoppable!

Trust me, keep it up!

Add some furniture, pictures, TV, etc. and you've got a great background!

rtf

NOw that's my kind of room!

One computer, and a ton of space to slide around with the chair!  ;)

Hi candle,

I liked the backgrounds you made for your other game, 'The Devorn  Murder Mystory'  with Adventure Maker.
This is a deffinate change to the backgrounds you have made before. I like the door and the windows best.

Thank you , The Devorn game I used a lot of 3d stuff to make the rooms so not real hard to do but this drawing by hand , wow this is hard .. I have been playing the "Flight of the Amazon Queen" and there must have been 30 or more people that worked on that and I see games here that are just as good and one person has made it ..
Here is the room now .

And I found a tut from InCreator's  and gave that a try to see how I could do . my tree didn't turn out like his but it may be good to use in part of my game .

Thanks for being so nice to a noob ..

Candle

BTW
I found this on line to use but was wondering if I would be looked down on if I use him in my game ?

I  think I could draw something but would be nice if I could use something done for my first game . bad ? good ?

Vel

Dude, that's rudy from Colonel's Bequest.

Candle

Ok thanks I have not played to many of these type of games so I don't know a lot of them ..
So looks like I should try and draw my own sprite ..
Off to give it a try ..
Thanks for your help .

Nobody'll look down on that.  Characters and their animations are one of the hardest parts of game making!  You didn't claim that you made him yourself, so you're in the clear!  You might want to change him a little ... just do a paint-over if you will.  That'll make him more yours!

The room is getting better and better!

The new lighting effect is a little off ... but not too bad!  The left side shadow seems out of place.  The direction of the light beams coming through the windows makes it seem like the left wall would be more lit.

The bed, bed table, desk, candles.  Juicy details!!

The outside:
I would suggest staying away from light colors for outlining.  Use a darker shade of the color your surrounding.  Aside from that, it's a nice background.

Keep it up!

I changed the shadow on the left side and it does look better , thank you for the suggestion .
I think I may still try to do the walking sprite but it may look like a big glob of ____ . lol
But  thank you for being nice to me .. Darth Mandarb

it's also a good idea to do those major lightfx, like the lightbeams coming through the window, at the end when all the objects and details are in place..so you don't have to draw those light effects on the objects self on which the light shines. Make a new layer on top after wards and add the cool lightfx...since the lightbeams might look different if certain objects are blocking its way...

hope this helps...

[ yoda ] Oh, to Kaaz you listen ... yess! [ /yoda ] :)
I always put my lighting and shading effects on layers 'above' the rest of the scene.  It's really the best way (I think) of doing it.

I, however, put them in first because it keeps my mind on where the light sources are.  But either way, using a seperate layer for the light effects is a good idea.
