Did anyone see this just now? It was really cool. I didn't actually take part with the whole thing, mainly cos I was interested in how he was leading the people that were there and stuff. And having the girl they were ment to be contacting come in at the end was just fantastic...
I've decided I like Derren after all :)

I would have watched it, but I completely forgot and ended up watching Total Recall. Hopefully it'll be shown on UK Gold at a later date or something.. :) Or perhaps he'll just do another one!

Adamski

Yes, damnit I was watching Total Recall too!

I can't imagine it being anything other than an illusion as... well... that's what he does. And hasn't he been doing these mock seances on stage around the country?

Power of suggestion/mis-direction and all that.

I wouldn't know, I've never seen his stage show...

Yeah, the whole point of it was that it was a trick, and that seances generally are, and the mediums involved are actualy faking even though they don't know they are... (he had a fancy phrase for it but I forget right now). He got one of the people there to act as the medium and she was absolutely convinced that this girl was speaking through her.

People seemed to ahve got wound up that he used a ouiji board, but I can't see how that would be any different from summoning spirits in a seance (If you believe in it that is). I've heard/read people saying "Well, i was going to take part, but then they said they were doing a ouiji board and I don't think you should mess with that sort of thing". Does this strike anyone else as odd?

I think it was good, but when it came to it, the show was alot of his usual stunts, in a different way. Not that that's unimpressive, of course.

Remembering back to "Derren Brown Almost Blows His Brains Out", a while ago, you we're probly better off with Total Recall.  Personally, I watched Boys and Girls with Freddie Prinze Jnr, and I'm happy with my choice.

Besides, what with Big Brother 5, I'm boycotting Chanel Four for the next month and a half.

DGMacphee

I once saw a special on the guy where he made everyone raise their hands in a shopping centre. I thought it was bollocks, so I looked him up.

Then I found this:

I instantly became a fan of Brian Mung.

That's actually an officially commisioned game, ya know (hence the constant DVD adverts).

It's even linked on the front page of his website.  So yay.

Anyway, I normally find his programmes most entertaining; regardless of how he actually does it (you can sense on occassion that when he's trying to make you think he's using ultra-clever psychological illusiony stuff, and he's really just performing a standard magic trick), it's always fun to watch.  The séance was rather dissapointing, though, however much fun it was to see that one bloke making crosses and actually PRAYING because he was so freaked out; aparrently the version he does on his stage show is much better.

But anyway, any person who can make Stephen Fry yell 'FUCK OFF!' is a god in my book.

Sam.

I thought it was OK. I mean it was quite cary at first but then it just became ridiculus. I mean, flying balls? it just was too "smoke and mirrors" for me
Bye bye thankyou I love you.

Privateer Puddin'

I also watched Total Recall, it was most entertaining once again.

That was the point. It is all smoke and mirrors - a hoax.

The only reason they didn't show the stooge lifting the ball up with a stick because they needed to get people phoning in with their 'supernatural' occurences (If indeed the calls were genuine).

I thought it was excellent. Derren Brown is a master expositor.
