Hey. Today I played one of the best First Person Shooters on the XBOX. The game is called Breakdown. You are a guy named Derrick Cole, who was a former U.S. Military Sargent. A lab in Yokohoma, Japan had did some experiments on you, and after the experiments you go into a deep coma for a long time. You finally wake up to have a docter saying "Hey, wake up."
"Your our last chance!" For over 10 years, the lab has been researching about a place called Nexus, a highly evolved culture that is sleeping underground on a place called Site Zero. However, their sleep is disturbed and they start to enhabit the earth. They plan to launch rockets and spread superhuman beings called T'lan Warriors all over the world. These creatures can withstand rockets, missiles, grenades, or any kind of human firepower. Apparently, you, Derrick Cole, were the only survivor of a project called The Alpha Project, in which experiments are done to enhance cells. Scientists have found what seems to be a super stimulation called "T'Langen" and when injected into human cells, the cells morph and rapidly increase, thus making the human body more efficient. Superhuman powers begin to develop in a stage called Accelleration, which can occur at any anytime. But you aren't the only one who has the uniqueness. There is a being who guards Nexus. His name is Solus. He has no understanding of feelings, fear, or anything whithin the human brain. He seeks and destroys, using massive power.

The reason why I love this game so much is because Namco has actually tried something unique with FPS. You can punch, kick, and basicly, do anything. You can even do backflips and you see it all through Derrick's eyes! The punch kick thing is different from other FPS's. You can get combo's the more you accelerate, making the game's depth alot bigger. If you see a burger or some soda, grab it and eat/drink it if you want to. Or look at a file lying around, also another thing that impressed me. I have one thing that I can't get over though, and that's the difficulty of this game. Even on normal, this game is extremly hard! Another concern is the game's interface. It can be VERY irritating! When you pick up an item, you have to look at it, then put it in your inventory. It gets annoying in battle or when there are many things to pick up. Another thing is health items. Some things like Rations, or, Cola cans, you can't keep them. If you find one you pick it up, look at it and you either eat/drink it or throw it away. That really sucks if you have low health and are stuck in a hard situation. But, it is a great game with a awesome story and outstanding graphics. Voice acting is pretty decent too. It's worth the rent or the $50.00 price tag, despite the minor flaws.

There was a game sort of like this on the dreamcast..  you played a ninja and you could punch/kick and use some wacky sword and electric things..

Can't remember what it was called though.

Mr Jake

meh, Id rather do all that in Multiplayer mode with TS (HL mod)

Czar

I'm curious.

Are games on CDs or what?
I'm a total expert on this issue, so if anyone could tell me a bit or two about it, i0 be grateful...

If you want a console, XBox isn't exactly the best choice in my opinion. Most of it's games are also available on PC you see.

Meh, even though i do not own an Xbox, and tend to be a nintendo fan boy, i tend to disagree with the whole xbox game = pc game thing but i can't be bothered to rant right now

R4L

Well I have an XBOX and I sure spent a hell of a lot on it. Just to watch DVD's on it, you need to buy a remote that doesn't come with batteries and all together it costs like 55 bucks. Games aren't that bad but the playstation and gamecube have the funnest games. I currently have 11 games and 4 controllers but no XBOX LIVE because I am a poor bastard.

Yup lucky's reply really got my xbox fanboy'ism heated. But i resisted the big shouting reply. And instead i give you this:

Xbox specs:

*CPU: Intel Pentium III 733-MHz processor technology with streaming SIMD extensions
*Graphics processor: 300-MHz, custom-designed X-Chip, developed by Microsoft and Nvidia
*Total memory: 64MB of RAM (unified memory architecture)
*Memory bandwidth: 6.4GB/second
*Polygon performance: 150M/sec

PS2:

CPU: 128 Bit "Emotion Engine"

    * System Clock: 300 MHz
    * System Memory: 32 MB Direct Rambus
    * Memory Bus Bandwidth: 3.2 GB per second
    * Floating Point Performance: 6.2 GFLOPS
    * 3D CG Geometric Transformation: 66 million Polygons Per Second

Gamecube:

    • 485 MHz
    • 32-bit integer
    • 64-bit floating-point
    • 16 Megabytes DRAM
    • 8 bits wide
    • 81 MHz
    • 81 megabits per second per pin
    • 81 megabytes per second bandwidth
    • 3-inch Optical Disc Technology (1.5 gigabytes)
    • memory cards

Just about sums up the system specs.

And the games, well its a matter of preferance in genre. Personally i like the more serious, lenghy games on xbox. As opposed to the short PS2 games or the happy go rescue a princess of Gamecube. But when it comes to playing somthing like Zelda at a friends house i find it a nice change to my prefered shoot'em up's like halo.

ohh and noticing the rappers post, xbox live DOES rock.

ok, rant over. Now what was the topic about? ;)

Mr Jake

... btw, if all firepower known to man doesnt work.. just what DO you use to kill the enemiesÃ,  :-\

edit: gamecube pwnz0r j00

BerserkerTails

As someone who owns all three next-generation consoles, I'd have to say that I think the Xbox is the best one, hardware wise. I still think of the PS2 as my favorite though, because I play it more than my Xbox. And I like the Gamecube least of the three.
I make music.

I have a feeling this post is gonna take a turn for the worst at any moment now.

Lynx 4eva!

Mr Jake

meh, I haven't played Xbox but PS2 is crap :D

LGM

I remember seeing this game on X-Play. It looks pretty neat. Can you see your feet if you look down?

Also.. You kids are spoiled. Personally, I would be glad to own ANY of the next-gen consoles. They all have great games. You youngin's take everything for granted. 15 years ago, the best thing you could get was a Nintendo... Gah!

It made me very angry.. I heard a 10 year old kid the other day complain about how Halo sucked... Kid doesn't know what he's talking about.. SPOILED BRATS! THE LOT OF YOU!
You. Me. Denny's.

R4L

Well Hotspot, Derrick Cole has those powers and he is the only one who can kill solus. You need to BOOM! GIVE THE SMACKDOWN! As for LGM, on the game, you can look down and see legs, a torso and that right there makes it unique. One part in the game Solus taunts you. Computer takes over and Derrick tries to punch but Solus grabs his fist and pushes him back on the ground. It looks cool. Definatly couldn't pull that off on 007 game. All James Bond is on those games is a floating torso.

NES rules ._.

so the game if more of a ninja game? hmmm, I haven't got an xbox so Ill stick to TS.

Lucky

Kinda funny how you XBox fanboys always keep showing it's specs. Good specs does not equal good games. Another funny thing is that XBox fans always praise Halo, but no other games. Not many great games for XBox after all? XBox Live is a great thing though, I can't disagree with that. I have to disagree with the wonders of watching DVDs with XBox though. You can get a better DVD player for cheaper nowadays. (And it won't take half of your bookshelf. :P )

As for PS2's "short" games... Actually I can't think of any way to reply to that, because I don't have any idea what you mean. PS2 has the best supply of games right now, and not just short games. Final Fantasies, Silent Hills, Grand Theft Autos, Metal Gear Solids... are those short? Besides, you can get PS2 for pretty cheap nowadays.

Gamecube. I don't like to praise this, because I'm a fanboy. But still, it has great original games as long as you haven't killed your inner child.

Well, let's hope I didn't spill gasoline on flames now. I hate arguing.

well i liked the original's. But when it comes to FinalFantasy 12 or Resident evil6, Grand Theft Auto5(sa), Mgs3, SilentHill4 the room. It it gets a little boring.

So i say, all in all. Build a decent pc, download some emulators. And play all the games.

capish

Sylpher

Just to be a bitch Resident Evil is only at the 4th game (well I guess 6th if your technical. Are you technical? Do you read in binary? Do you feed on batteries?). Final Fantasy is getting a bit annoying now though this is ture.
