I have been having alot of trouble trying to use the ags interpreter under my distro (Xandros 2.x+3.0, which are debian based).  what will happen is that after following all the included instructions, my monitor will seemingly turn off, and remain that way untill I do a full restart of my computer.  I know the interpreter is other wise running, as I can still hear the intro and everthing.  its still responsive as I can click randomly, and hear foot steps.

I've tried just about every thing with the setup, but nothing seems to affect it.
thanks for your help

It sounds like the game is using a refresh rate or resolution the monitor doesn't support. Try running the game setup and play around with the "85Hz", resolution and "Force alternative letterbox resolution" settings.
Does the monitor turn back on if you force-quit the game with ALT+X?

And this is just a guess as I'm quite new to Linux myself (running Debian/testing), but have you properly configured your monitor for your X server?
Check the "Screen" section in /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 .

thanks for your suggestions strazer.  My monitor is configured correctly, but I fiddled with the refresh rate anyway, but it had no effect.  the letterbox opton neither.
and once my display dies, it stays dead. after I exit the game (at least I think I exited the game), even after it quits X and starts shutting down.  I don't see anything again untill the bios screen.
