Five Magical Amulets

Hello I am playing Five Magical Amulets, a WME game, I realize that this is not an AGS game, but i was wondering if anyone else was playing this game...i am stuck and i need some help:

I need to get rid of the wasps outside the wizard's house so that the little boy can climb the tree and get the key so i can cook this pie for the fairy and the blacksmith...and/or get/make some bread for the bear...I think. Anyway, can someone please help me out? I have exhausted all converstions so i assume i am missing something that i need to do. Help

Just trying to download it now, thats a big game, its taking forever, right now I still have 45 minutes to go. Won't get to playing it until later though, maybe by that time you will have got further. Will we be allowed to post hints on here seeing as its not an AGS game?

That is so strange, I had no problems with it all, I downloaded it, it was called fma.exe and when I double clicked on it, it automatically installed giving me an icon on the desktop etc. It didn't tell me I needed direct X either so I must have already had that. When you d/l direct X, did you have to actually install it or does it just run automatically, I am just guessing here, I have really no idea. I know Rosie played it too and she didn't have any problem. Its a great game so I hope we can figure out what the problem is.

There is a forum for this game, here it is, maybe if you asked over on that forum, or had a look to see if anybody else had the problem. I remember now having one problem where I had got to a point and the game crashed on me but there was a patch posted on that forum so I d/l that and I had no problem after that. Think it was because I was playing in Windows98 and not Xp but can't remember but that was the only problem I had.

Hi Sunshine..... I have windows xp  and I had no trouble downloading that game.  I got exe.  and it put an icon on my desktop.  What is the exact problem?  Are you trying to download the game and it is not working??
Try going to the game and see if the author can give you some clue as to why you are getting setup instead.

I have windows 98 and I also have an icon on my desktop but when I try to play the game I get a message that I need DirectX 8.0 version or latest.  When I try to download 8.0 or 9.0 (which I spent the afternoon doing) my computer crashes and I have to reload and reload and reload. I did post for help on the author's forum and am waiting for an answer.

I was wondering, to download the game you had a few choices of mirrors.  I chose www.adventuredevelopers.com/downloads/.  Is that where you downloaded your game

Thanks but I have just downloaded from Mirror 2 (and it takes so long) and ran into the same problem, need Direct X 8.0 or newest version.  Downloaded 9.0 and there is always the same problem, it cannot copy 1 important file.

So thank you Joyce and Rosie but I guess I'll just forget about this game.  Too bad it did look like a very good game.

Sunshine, that is such a shame because yes its a very good game. If I was you I would email the creator of the game and ask his advice. I don't know much about directX didn't even know I had it lol, so I had a look under program files and sure enough there it was, I looked to see what version it was and it is 9. When I looked in the folder, there was just set up file. Maybe after you d/l directX you have to set it up. I don't remember doing any of this though so who knows. Anyway the creator's email address is olga@fabry.cz. If you do email him/her just remember to put the name of the game as the subject so that they know what its about and don't just delete the email. I don't think you will get an answer on that forum unless somebody technical reads it. I don't know if the creator checks the forum or not.

Hi Sunshine,

You are not having much luck are you. I was reading the replies you got over in the other forum and I checked the website that person gave you, but it was for windows XP and you have 98 like me. I had a look to see if I had those files you are missing and I do, they are in C:Windows\System. Wonder if you have to take your version 7 off before trying to put 9 on or somehow update version 7. I am not very technical, I could send you those files but I am guessing they would be no good for version 7. Isn't there a technical forum somewhere on AGS, maybe they could help or maybe do a search on the web for "updating directx"  I know its frustrating especially if your computer is crashing but maybe thats because you already have version 7 and it needs updated not a new version put on. We'll keep trying
