I'm just starting off with AGS, so I cheated and used a template until I grow a little more confident inmyself.
I'm using my new project to re-teach myself how to draw after a 3 year hiatus.

Suggestions?

They look good to me, they don't look too much like the template to be  completely recognizable either.

The problems I have is with the shoulders on the 3 girl characters, they look really broken down, pull them up a little. The hair on the dude is great and I love the shading on his chest.

Also, the crotch on the dude and the girl in blue jeans is a little weird, the 2 pixels meeting like that is awkward, I don't remember what it looks like in the template but if I did that then I'll have to change it.

I like the hair on pinky, the green highlights really work.

Trouble is, the sleeves don't. I don't know whether it's the too high contrast between dark pink and black on the border or what, but I'd try to fix that. The characters are also standing a little aggressively - although that suits the fourth character.

I agree with the sleeve thing. They look too thick, and they go too far over her hands. Also the two pixels at the top of the hair on the girl with black hair looks kind of weird.

I agree with Mr. C about the shoulders:


- lowered the shoulders
- thinned the neck
- added a little cleavage ('cause hey ... I like cleavage!)
- brought the head down
- fixed the legs/crotch area
- put the one arm behind to create a more relaxed stance

I dig the characters!  With a little more time and polishing they'll be fully functional!

i had problems trying to post earlier or else I would have replied sooner >_<

I DID fic the shoulders in the above image, they looked a lot worse before, trust me.
I checked out that template and Lester(Mr. orange hair) has the same two pixel thing going on with his crotch. The girls were all lengthened to widen the legs a little.

However i kinda like Darth did with Gretchen(Miss blonde) =D
The cleavage wont work because it's in between pixels or else i would  have done it myself XD
I only added the sleeves because i didn't want to have to draw both a left and a right walk cycle for her because her character actually only have one arm >_< So i his the prosthesis with a sleeve. XD

- I re-edited it once again and tried something with it tho.
- lighened her sleeve border and i think it looks a bit better

I made a few changes that might help you get back into the black art of pixel drawing




I focused primarily on the female shapes, giving them hips and narrowing their legs as they moved down.  I also touched up their shoulders and lifted their breast lines a bit.  I also widened their heads by 1 pixel to re-center them on the new bodies.

Edit 2 was more superficial, all I did was play with their faces a bit:

I think the upper torso of the pink girl could do with coming in a notch, too - it looks a little wedge shaped at the moment.

I agree with Tanker - ProgZ's edit does make the face more masculine.
I think it's the heavier eyebrows and the shape of the chin.
Otherwise, the edits are awesome! I especially like the "happy face" of #3 and the rework of the leg spacing.

Sorry Proggie, but the original characters have a certain... charm, to them.

I've kept the same sort of stance that Progz had reworked.
I think this is going to be my final edit of the characters. I can't have them too fancy or else they'll look out of place in teh rest of my poorly drawn backgrounds. XD

These are great. But the third (back) wiew is kind of wierd. Where the trousers meet the shoes (sorry i didn't kow to put it) the trousers could wrinkle a bit.  It also looks like she is standing in an extreme V like position. Try making it so that one of the shoes is only visible from the back (not from the side).
