I had a saved game just before this part so I played it to see if I could help you.  I am assuming you are using the small pool of lava at the front because you said you can use the eye icon to look at it, it does tell you that its a small pool of lava. I clicked my crowbar on it, there is a little white dot at the bottom of the crowbar and I just positioned that in the middle of the pool and it worked okay for me.

Thanks Joyce. I am clicking the little blue dot on the crowbar in every inch of the lava pool and still no luck. I dont know what the problem is. Someone commented earlier about having difficulty clicking on things and by luck clicking on the right pixel. Perhaps this is what has happened for some reason. I guess I should have saved more than one game

The only other thing I can think of is that you haven't talked to Dioulie at the chasm where you need to cross. She tells you what she needs to get over, maybe you can't use the crowbar on the small puddle of lava until she has told you this. I think there was an option of asking her what should we do now? or something like that. I have tried my game again and nomatter where on the pool that I click - it works

Yes I talked to dloulie at the chasm first and then tried to give her the rope but she needed a grappling hook so thats when I tried the crowbar and then went back the next screen and saw the lava pool. And then you know the rest. Can you put your hand in the lava pool? As i said, I can see it, but then all the other icons act as if it isnt even there. I am really disappointed because I had come so far in the game and I cant bear to start it all again!

Yay! It finally worked. I went back through the process and talked to dloulie again at the chasm and then went back and it went in the pool straight away. I am thinking that the problem was the first time I handed her the rope and she said she needed the hook in response to that, but I didnt actually use the talk icon on her and ask her "what to do". Thank you so much for your help!

You are welcome, glad you got it to work, I was thinking of sending you my saved game but problem was in the other worlds folder they are all just numbered so it would have taken me a little while to figure out which one it was.

 ::)This is a fine , well thought out, neat graphics and so much more...........I'm glad there are 23 or so pages to check.  However, I'm still stuck, having given Wel something his cooked corn, and fallen to the ground.  I've typed in the correct spell ( according to my sneaking a peak) but haven't gotten anywhere.  Girlfriend says I should be doing this on myself....okay but everytime I enter spell word and exit I can't and am back to the spell page again.  So I need some specific help.

This is what the walkthrough says, after you gave Weldgil his corn, you talk to him and after you die, you have a new cursor (wand) and a spell sheet, you have to open inventory and  read spell sheet. Then cast RYKGEM on the Grim Ripper.(think it means Grim Reaper)
Its been a while from I have played and I looked to see if I had a saved game at that part but I don't. Are you seeing the Grim Reaper? (man in black cloak)

I do have the spell sheet and wand but my screen show only the spell sheet, it covers my monitor and I can't exit.  I did see the grim reaper but he's gone and here I sit looking at this large spell sheet. I have typed in 2 of the spells...reserection and the one that looks like its spelled backwards.  It's late and my mind is slipping  lol.    I need to get off the spell sheet.  Thanks for the input, I'll check with you tomorrow.  Jacquie

I loaded a saved game to have a look at the spell book and like you say the spell book covers the screen but there is an exit button at the bottom right hand corner and all I had to do was click the hand icon on it to exit. This happened to me when I was playing another game, I couldn't see everything on my screen. Somebody told me to run winsetup.exe for that game.
I am not very technical but try this
Go into Program Files/Other Worlds and look for winsetup.exe, double click on that. I had a look at mine and its set at 640 x 400. Look and see if thats what yours is set at and if not then click on that , then hit save or save and run.

I took your advice , in addition I went back to my previous saved game,Ã,  did things a little differently,Ã,  and now I've been to the lava lake, gotten tooÃ,  mouthy gotten killed again, have arisen and am wandering around aimlessly.....I'm sure I'll come up with something.Ã,  lol

Hi.

I am in act 5 and I can't seem to be able to set the trap. 

/spoiler I got the rod and the food but when I try to use the rod, I had to put the bait first and when I try to use the bait, they said that I need to block the hatch.  Can you help me?\spoiler

Marie are you using the walkthrough? Its been a while from I have played so don't remember exactly, I had a look at the walkthrough but its not much help. All it says is place the edible thingy on the surface in front of the hatch, it doesn't say whether you have to use rod or edible thingy first. The edible thingy is what you have after you use the AYOS spell on the orange ball. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Like many other before me I'm stuck in this cool game

My major problem is that in the walkthrough says that I have to put the ice cubes before everything else on the basin but when I try to do that appears a sentence "Why do you want to put the ice cubes in the basin?".

May this be some kind of a bug? 

Please help me.

I had a look at the walkthrough and all I can think of is - right before you have to put ice cubes in the basin you were supposed to read the instructions in the book first - have you done this? maybe it won't recognize that you need ice cubes until you read the instructions

 Joyce: Thanks for your tip, but... *blond moment* what book are you talking about? Is it the book that the monsters told Natalia about and that is in the 1st room of the mansion? But I've already read that one and I can't recall any other on the mansion... 

Your hint seems very reasonable but I can't figure out which book you're talking about...
